Bay Buchanan Says Claims of a GOP War on Women 'Outrageous'

Bay Buchanan is a force to be reckoned with. She was the youngest treasurer in U.S. history, a single mom, and has remained a prominent voice in the conservative movement.

And she finds the narrative claiming a GOP war on women outrageous.

"I find it outrageous that they would even suggest that somehow Republicans are against women," Buchanan told Townhall at the Republican National Convention. "It's just ridiculous on the very face of it."

It's also unfortunate, Buchanan said, that the media perpetuates the storyline. But when it comes to the GOP combating the narrative, Buchanan said there are some in the party who are fearful to combat the narrative—which she deems unfortunate because she sees no truth in the "war on women" accusations.

For Buchanan, women, when it comes down to it, don't vote that differently from men--they're thinking about things like jobs. It was a theme that fit well with the image the GOP presented Tuesday evening at the convention: a series of strong speakers, including several women who could speak with authority about small businesses, emphasizing the theme of "We built that."
