This month, Townhall reported how a new poll revealed that the majority of Americans believe that there should be an age cap as an eligibility requirement for presidential candidates. Shortly after, a separate survey Townhall reported on found that 62 percent of voters believe that Biden is unfit for another four-year term as president. Sixty percent said the same of former President Donald Trump.
A Pew Research Center survey released Tuesday found that 63 percent of Americans express “not too much” or “no confidence at all” in the future of the U.S. political system. Twenty-three percent said that it is working “somewhat well.” A mere 4 percent said that it is working “extremely” or “very” well.
Only 16 percent of respondents said they trust the government “always” or “most” of the time.
“While trust has hovered near historic lows for the better part of the last 20 years, today it stands among the lowest levels dating back nearly seven decades,” Pew’s write-up stated.
Twenty-eight percent of respondents indicated that they dislike both political parties, the highest share in three decades of asking the question. Twenty-five percent said they feel that they are not represented by either Democrats or Republicans. Sixty-three percent of respondents said they are dissatisfied with the 2024 presidential candidates that have emerged so far. A majority of respondents said they’d support term limits and age limits for elected officials.
“The survey also provides people several opportunities to describe in their own words their feelings about the political system and elected officials. When asked to sum up their feelings about politics in a word or phrase, very few (2%) use positive terms; 79% use negative or critical words, with “divisive” and “corrupt” coming up most frequently,” the write-up explained.

One issue impacting most Americans since Biden took office is the economy. A recent poll from Suffolk University and USA TODAY found that more Americans trust former President Donald Trump on this issue than Biden, which Townhall reported.
"It's been pretty bad, and I was a supporter of Biden, so I don't know what's going on," one of the respondents, Javier Torres, told USA TODAY. "Maybe it's not all his fault − or it is? I don't know. But something's got to give."
