For whatever reason, the mainstream media loves to ask former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton – the very woman who ran for president unsuccessfully on two different occasions – what she thinks about the 2020 field of candidates. She has made it very clear, on multiple occasions, that she opposes Sen. Bernie Sanders (D-VT) being the Democratic nominee. She reiterated that position during a Sunday morning interview with CNN's Fareed Zakaria.
"If Bernie Sanders is the Democratic nominee, will you campaign for him?" Zakaria asked.
"I will support the nominee of the Democratic Party," Clinton replied.
"But will you campaign for him?" Zakaria pressed.
"I don't know if he would ask me to campaign for him, Fareed, because I have no idea what he is thinking about for a general election campaign" she replied with a laugh. "As I've said many times, I do not think he is our strongest nominee against Donald Trump."
Why would Bernie want Hillary to join him on the campaign trail? She really doesn't want to see him become president. He has enough momentum without her. If Hillary hit the campaign trail on his behalf, that would open him up to a host of issues – Benghazi, her email scandal, Fast and Furious – that he likely doesn't want to remind voters about.
Hillary is more of a liability than an asset to whoever ends up becoming the Democratic nominee. Whether or not Bernie or Joe see it that way is a different story.
