Rep. Keller Hails President Trump's China Deal as Win for Both Pennsylvania and America

President Trump signed the first phase of his landmark trade deal with China this afternoon. At this point, tariffs on China are not yet lifted, but the president hopes this will soon be the case.

Rep. Fred Keller (R, PA-12), a freshman congressman from the key state of Pennsylvania, has emerged as a rising star in Congress. A native to the central region of the Keystone State, Rep. Keller won his special election in May 2019 by a colossal margin of 68 percent. In a year of Democratic enthusiasm, Keller blew his far-left opponent out of the water and became an ally of the president in the lower chamber of Congress.

Rep. Keller expressed his support for President Trump’s deal with China, an agreement that puts the United States in a comfortable spot in the global economy, while also holding China accountable.

“With China pledging to purchase $75 billion of our nation’s manufactured goods, the Phase One China Trade Deal is a huge win for the nation’s manufacturing industry and will be particularly beneficial to Pennsylvania hardwood producers with their inclusion in the trade deal. For decades China has taken advantage of the United States through currency manipulation, intellectual property theft, and an unfair trade relationship, but prior administrations sat by doing nothing hoping the status quo would be better than the process of seeking a better deal,” Rep. Keller said in a press release.

Talks on phase two of the trade deal with China will begin as phase one of the deal kicks in, as Cortney reported earlier.
