Sessions Shares This New Detail About Strzok's Status at FBI

Earlier this week Peter Strzok, the FBI agent who was removed from the special counsel investigation over his inappropriate political bias shown in text messages, was escorted from FBI headquarters in Washington, D.C. Attorney General Jeff Sessions confirmed Thursday that his removal from the building was due to the fact that he lost his security clearance.

“Mr. Strzok as I understand has lost his security clearance," Sessions said during a radio interview on "The Howie Carr Show."

On June 19, the day Strzok was escorted from the building, his attorney issued a statement regarding his employment, saying Strzok “remains a proud FBI agent who wants to continue working to keep the American people safe.”

“Pete has steadfastly played by the rules and respected the process, and yet he continues to be the target of unfounded personal attacks, political games and inappropriate information leaks,” attorney Aitan Goelman said in a statement.

“Despite being put through a highly questionable process, Pete has complied with every FBI procedure, including being escorted from the building as part of the ongoing internal proceedings.”

Former FBI special agent and spokesman John Iannarelli told Fox News Strzok's forced removal was a “rare occurrence.”

“To be escorted out of the building before the OPR investigation is completed and a decision is rendered is fairly extraordinary,” Iannarelli said.

Strzok has offered to testify before the House Judiciary Committee and any other congressional committee that invites him.
