Today has been kind of a weird day in Congress. Namely, Sen. Ben Sasse (R-NE) accidentally spilled a Dr Pepper on Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), which morphed into an excellent Twitter exchange.

Cruz (or the staffer who runs his Twitter account, at least), ever the good sport, tweeted that Sasse was now cut off from his office's Dr Pepper fridge. Dr Pepper was created in Texas, so it's very on-brand for Cruz to apparently have a fridge full of it in his office.

Sasse, on the other hand, said that he was wearing a "Lee Harvey Oswald Was Framed" shirt. This is a reference to the bizarre conspiracy theory that Cruz's father was somehow involved in the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.

And then Cruz volleyed back with an image of the Zodiac cipher, maintaining his undisputed status as the Congressional king of the Twitter burn.

In 2013, an odd meme started that claimed Cruz was the Zodiac Killer, the still-unidentified man who killed at least five people in California during the late 1960s and 1970s. This meme picked up steam during the 2016 election. Cruz now appears to have embraced the "Zodiac Ted" moniker.
Sasse had the last laugh though, saying he found "Rafael" (Cruz's father's name) in the cipher, but not "Grassy Knoll."
