Iranian Islamic Guard Aimed Naval Weapon at US Helicopter

Members of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard pointed their weapons at a U.S. military helicopter in the Strait of Hormuz on Saturday,  an action Department of Defense officials described as "unsafe and unprofessional," according Reuters.

Another official said the incident occurred during the daytime hours as the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Eisenhower was moving through the area to exit the Persian Gulf.

The officials, said the incident took place when a Navy MH-60 helicopter flew within half a mile of two Iranian vessels in international waters. One of the vessels pointed a weapon at the helicopter.

"The behavior by our standards is provocative and could be seen as an escalation," the officials said.
