President Obama spoke from the White House Thursday on the horrific shootings that left 14 individuals dead in San Bernardino. The president said “mixed motives” were evident in the massacre, but told the public to “rest assured we will get to the bottom of this.”
After Obama sent his prayers to the victims’ families, he explained how his administration was planning to address the violence, suggesting gun control is again in the cards.
“It’s going to be important for all of us, including our legislatures, to see what we can do to make sure that when individuals decide they want to do somebody harm, we’ll make it a little harder for them to do it. Because right now it’s just too easy.”
He emphasized this point, insisting we’re going to have to “search ourselves as a society” to make sure we can take basic steps to make it “harder, not impossible,” for individuals to get access to weapons.
A press conference led by Attorney General Loretta Lynch will be held later today.
