As a reminder, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) has already made his intentions clear. Sens. Rand Paul (R-KY) and Marco Rubio (R-FL), for their part, will make major announcements on April 7th and April 13th, respectively.
And now, of course, the next shoe is about to drop: Dr. Ben Carson will let supporters know "one way or another" if he's a candidate for president as early as May 1st:
Ben Carson told supporters on a conference call Tuesday night an announcement about his presidential plans is likely just over a month away.“I will more than likely make an announcement one way or another during first week of May,” Carson said about 40 minutes into a question-and-answer session with supporters.
Now that he's already established a presidential exploratory committee, however, the chances Dr. Carson doesn’t run for president are exceedingly slim. Indeed, ever since he lambasted President Obama at the National Prayer Breakfast in 2013 — while the commander in chief looked on rather irritably — major journals and grassroots activist alike have urged him to throw his hat into the ring.
But will he answer the call as expected, or pass up what will surely be a difficult and uphill battle to capture the GOP presidential nomination? We’ll know soon enough — in about a month or so.
