Ha: NYC Mayor De Blasio Booed on Opening Day

NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio was loudly booed today as he threw out the ceremonial first pitch at the New York Mets' game. Today is the first day of the 2014 MLB season.

New York Daily News posted a video, and it's not pretty:

De Blasio has come under fire for shuttering high-performing charter schools and for his past associations with far-left groups.

Baseball fans in attendance were similarly displeased with de Blasio's record on education:

“I’m not a fan of his — especially on his [positions on] charter schools and pre-K,” said booing fan Jodi Freed, 42, of Bayside.

“Is school a day care or education system? He needs to show more concern by getting rid of Common Core and educating, starting on basics.”

Glenn Smith, a computer programmer from Kinnelon, NJ, was blown away by the overwhelming boos for the recently elected mayor.

“He’s only been in office for three months. They were pretty hard on him,” Smith said.

De Blasio, despite being the mayor of New York City, is a fan of the Boston Red Sox. It is unknown whether his fan affiliation also contributed to the barrage of boos.
