Wendy Davis: Trump Benefited From An 'Undereducated Electorate,' Which Is A Right Wing Conspiracy Or Something

Former Texas gubernatorial candidate Wendy Davis is the last person to be offering election commentary, especially since she wasn’t able to clinch 40 percent of the vote in her doomed bid against Republican attorney general (and now governor) Greg Abbott. The former Democratic Texas state senator, who rose to national prominence for her filibuster against a late-term abortion bill, said that President-elect Donald J. Trump benefited from an “undereducated electorate,” which once again shows that some Democrats simply don’t get it (via Star Telegram):

“Let’s face it, Republicans were rewarded by an undereducated electorate,” Davis told the Texas Standard, a public radio program, on Thursday. “And I don’t think it’s too cynical to say that the true right-wing conspiracy in this country is the undereducation of the populace. It has benefited them and it is not an accidental outcome.”

What are you talking about, Davis? Millions of Obama supporters voted for Donald Trump, The Washington Post had this to say about the Rust Belt surge that went to Trump:

Of the nearly 700 counties that twice sent Obama to the White House, a stunning one-third flipped to support Trump.

Trump also won 194 of the 207 counties that voted for Obama either in 2008 or 2012.

National Public Radio also mentioned how Democrats’ complacency in their big city approach could leave them out in the cold. After 2016, that’s become a reality. That’s not an undereducated electorate Ms. Davis; it’s working people saying too long the Democrats have abandoned us, we’re mocked incessantly by the elites in the big city bubbles, and we’ve just overturned the table. It’s time for a new contract—and if Trump isn’t it, we’ll throw him out too. Also, let’s be shy to say this: Clinton was a terrible candidate who just couldn’t resonate with a large swath of voters, much like Romney. Also, I can save y’all a lot of time with what she said next. She hasn’t made a decision about challenging Sen. Ted Cruz in 2018. Right, because she’ll lose badly. Barring a massive alien invasion or an asteroid strike, Cruz will probably be safe. Even if she’s appointed somewhere in the Trump Administration, Abbott will pick a GOP replacement and even that person is going to be safe from the underwhelming aura that is Wendy Davis.
