Harvard law professor Alan Dershowitz has often defended President Trump's executive power, most recently pushing back at leading Democrats for suggesting Matthew Whitaker can't be the acting attorney general. But, Dershowitz did not paint a rosy picture for the president in terms of Robert Mueller's Russia investigation. The special counsel's conclusions will be politically "devastating" for the president Dershowitz predicted on ABC's "This Week."

"I think the report is going to be devastating to the president," Dershowitz said. "And I know that the president’s team is already working on a response to the report."
"The critical questions are largely political," he added. "When I say devastating, I mean it's going to paint a picture that's going to be politically very devastating."
President Trump dismisses the Russia probe as a "witch hunt." Still, last week he complied with Mueller by submitting answers to the special counsel in writing. The lawyer commended Trump for that choice last week during a chat with "Fox & Friends."
It was "very smart" on the part of the president to answer the questions in person to avoid a "perjury trap," the professor mused.
The lawyer added that he's seen no evidence Trump is guilty in any collusion, and if there was collusion, "that's not a crime."
