Cruz Addresses Iran Controversy: No One Will Be Forced to Their Knees Before An Enemy If I’m POTUS

At tonight’s presidential debate in Charleston, SC, moderated by Fox Business Network, Sen. Ted Cruz’s first target was President Obama, specifically his lack of leadership in regards to the ten U.S. Navy sailors who were detained by Iranian authorities. It was unacceptable, Cruz said, for the president to not even mention the sailors at his State of the Union address Tuesday night.

The controversy in question unfolded when the U.S. Navy ship ran aground and sailed into Iranian territory. While Iran promised they would return the sailors peacefully, footage showed them arresting the Americans, forcing them on their knees and telling them to put their hands on their heads.

“It was heartbreaking,” Cruz said.

Yet, our Secretary of State thanked Iran and our president remained silent.

As a result, Cruz made a prediction.

“The next commander-in-chief is standing on this stage.”

He got more specific. Should he be elected president, Cruz said he will never allow an American to bow before our foes.

“If I am elected president, no serviceman or servicewoman will be forced to be on their knees in any nation that captures our fighting men and women.”
