Major Progressive Group MoveOn.org Endorses Sanders By Record Numbers

Chalk this up as another major blow to the Clinton campaign. MoveOn.org, a prominent progressive group, announced Tuesday morning that it is throwing its support behind Bernie Sanders.

Not only did MoveOn members vote for Sanders, they voted for him overwhelmingly.

With a record-setting 78.6 percent of 340,665 votes cast by the MoveOn membership, Senator Bernie Sanders has won MoveOn.org Political Action’s endorsement for president with the largest total and widest margin in MoveOn history.

The group’s Executive Director Ilya Sherman offered five reasons for why Sanders is their chosen candidate. They include: His commitment to combat corporate interests, standing up for oppressed communities, his anti-war agenda, his electability and, finally, his ability to generate such a convincing amount of support from MoveOn members.

Social media users noted how awkward this must be for Clinton.

Sanders is poised to win the New Hampshire primary, currently leading Clinton by double digits and he is toe-to-toe with the former Secretary of State in Iowa. Is Clinton in danger of being upstaged in the Democratic primary – again?
