Dealing With Hamas, and Perhaps Its Sponsor

The opinions expressed by columnists are their own and do not necessarily represent the views of Townhall.com.

The world witnessed evil this month of a kind barely seen since the Second World War and perhaps not since biblical days when the idolatrous Canaanites slaughtered and burned infants as sacrifices to their god Molech.

The 10/7 atrocities include the behaviors which incurred God’s wrath and judgment during biblical times – and should again. Being burned alive was the most common death for ancient victims of child sacrifice.

And as if those horrors weren’t enough, the savages of Hamas engaged in gang rape and beheaded babies in their cribs.

This is the ilk and ideology that brought us 9/11. But the 10/7 event was worse on several levels. The number of victims this month equaled around half the casualties of 9/11. With the US having forty times the population of Israel, it’s comparable in scale to twenty 9/11s.  And this attack was deliberately done on the Sabbath and also coincided with the joyous Jewish holiday of Simchat Torah. Pearl Harbor would have had to happen on Easter Sunday to be equivalent.

Hostage taking – also known as kidnapping – is another abomination. The Left wails about the slave trade, which starts with kidnapping, but can’t find their voice to condemn the practice when perpetrated by the Islamic terrorists of Hamas.

Palestinians in Gaza celebrated the slaughter and promise more such savagely. They’re calling for and are sworn to genocide against all the Jews on Earth. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin called Hamas worse than ISIS. Yet when something can be done to head off this genocide, the world briefly pays lip service and then thwarts the attempts to battle the perpetrators.

With that in mind, how tepid is US support for Israel? The Senate passed a resolution which says it "stands with Israel as it defends itself, including Israeli efforts to diminish the threat posed by Hamas" and "reaffirms Israel’s right to self-defense, and is committed to helping Israel safeguard its people from future aggression."

But almost in the same breath, it “urges the Biden administration to immediately call for and facilitate de-escalation and a cease fire to urgently end the current violence,” thus invalidating the whole resolution.

Sure Israel should declare a cease fire – after they can’t find any more terrorists to fire at.

Then our fool of a President proposes giving the “Palestinians” (read Hamas) a hundred million dollars. Just insane.

Don’t forget, Hamas and its supporters raise their kids to hate Jews and Americans. Israel is only the little Satan. We’re the great Satan. They believe their religion commands them to kill the infidel – that’s us – and they’d commit the same carnage here if given the chance. With the Biden border non-existent, it’s a real possibility. Israel should be encouraged to go on the offensive and we should be prepared to do the same.

It’s the only way to effectively deal with such depravity.

The God of the Bible describes the murdering of babies as detestable and commanded the Israelites to annihilate the perpetrators. But that was a unique time which can’t be extrapolated to our day, although the current atrocities are no less heinous. And the Israeli Defense Forces are loath to kill women and children, despite Palestinian mothers and fathers indoctrinating kids from their earliest years, even dressing and training them as suicide bombers.

But Israel cannot continue to live with a time bomb next door. With the great majority of its populace having finally had enough, there’s little choice but to mount a long-term and sustained assault, world hypocrisy be damned.

No matter what Israel does, it will be accused of genocide (and has been already). Yet that’s what Hamas openly calls for – with no corresponding condemnation. Such a double standard must not be seriously countenanced.

Few people outside the region realize it but the entirety of the Gaza Strip is smaller than Lubbock Texas. With the majority of Israeli and US citizens in support (despite the new and unprecedented displays of antisemitism here), Israel should go on the offensive until there are no tunnels, terrorists, or weaponry left in Gaza. And when operations are through, a buffer zone should be put in place so there’s not just a single fence separating the residents of southern Israel.

The world will scream that Gazans are in an "open-air prison." But they have been for 18 years, since Israel pulled its forces out. Only the prison has been presided over by Hamas, not Israel.

With the hatred Islamists have for the West, can we doubt that the terrorists of 9/11 would have been glad to deliver a nuclear weapon to Manhattan instead of planes?

It’s time to deal with Hamas and perhaps even its nuclear-obsessed sponsor. On that hopeful note, Israel has declared that the leaders of Iran are not off limits
