Artisanally-Crafted Narratives – NBC NEWS

It is rather apparent that the press, overall, is sympathetic to the writers’ strike in Hollywood, as well as the parallel walkout from the SAG-AFTRA union. (They cover this, despite the conflict of interest in being guild members themselves.) Even with this in mind, one might want to step back and consider the rather obvious nature of the coverage you are providing on this particular topic.

The industry’s rank-and-file screenwriters have been off the job for nearly 100 days, and screen actors have been on strike for more than three weeks. The dual labor stoppages have pushed some workaday scribes and performers into precarious financial situations — with no end in sight.

Let us see if we can make the connection here. You say that refusing to work for three months has led to an extended lack of income, and this, in turn, is creating financial hardships???

One might think a group of people skilled in creating complete plotlines would have been able to sketch out these developments ahead of time...

Pre-Written Field Reports – CNN

There has been all manner of media outrage about the news that Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has removed another state attorney who was backed by George Soros. Let us know when you see a major news outlet that is looking over the record of Monique Worrell to see if there was justification behind the move.

CNN covers this decision in expected fashion, suggesting this was done purely out of some kind of personal spite from DeSantis. We get the usual notice that she was democratically elected (a defense always offered up to Democrats but never heard when Republicans are challenged thusly) and we hear of the political motivations behind the decision.

Absent from the coverage is this list of criminals who were granted lighter than required sentences or outright released, only to go and commit other serious crimes as a result.

Legalized Press-titution –  THE NEW YORK TIMES

  • The rejuvenation of the Veep continues unabated.

We do not really want to suggest The New York Times is pimping on behalf of the administration – so we will just show you, instead.

The press has been diligent the past few weeks in trying to boost the stature of Vice President Kamala Harris, a clear sign the skids are being greased for President Biden to step away from a 2024 presidential run. Here we get a near-1,500 word profile on the woman we should already be familiar with after years in office, but apparently, we have all missed out on her magnificence in that time.

Note they claim she had “momentum that propelled her” into the role of VP. This is the woman who did not garner a single delegate in the race and was polling in a distant 4th place in her home state before she quit her presidential campaign and it was announced she'd be Biden's running mate because of her gender and race.

But sure, “momentum”...

Presentation Paradox – CANADIAN BROADCASTING COMPANY-HAMILTON

In covering a school rally that was held to support the DEI programs and policies at a Toronto school, CBC barely gives any pause to address the perceived problems with the program. What is remarkable is, while granting so much defense for the program, the cited needs for it are compromised by the very same actions coming from the program.

At issue is the DEI policies that have come under fire after a school principal committed suicide. Many voices were given a chance to express the need for DEI instruction, including racist bullying. Barely mentioned, however is how, in front of co-workers, the principal had been labeled a “white supremacist” by the DEI instructor and came under verbal fire for questioning whether Canada was more racist than the U.S., per the lawyers representing the principal's family.

However, that instructor was given the chance to defend her program.

Kike Ojo-Thompson, chief executive officer of the KOJO Institute and the anti-racism trainer accused of denigrating Bilkszto, said the accusations are false and mischaracterize what happened. Ojo-Thompson calls Bilkszto's death a tragedy and offers her condolences to his family, but also said his death has been weaponized to discredit and suppress anti-racism efforts.

Pulitzer Prize Nomination: Distinguished Local Reporting – CBS CHANNEL 4 NEWS

Although this is a transparent effort to support school free lunch programs (or, to coax people into clicking on a linked Bento-Box offer), we need to applaud the brazen desperation of this local affiliate to generate hysteria over a non-existent problem.

Between on-campus meals made available to basically all students, or the wide preference of lunch receptacles on Amazon and elsewhere, we are not even sure how many kids tote the sack-lunch option anymore. But rest assured, despite decades of kids who brown-bagged it every day without issue, your kids could die if you carelessly pack them their to-go meal!
