Was the Copenhagen Global Warming Summit Walk-Out a Win for the U.S.?

Sarah Palin sat down Friday night with Tribune-Review political reporter Salena Zito for a wide-ranging interview that covered the economy, education, energy and the Alaska governor's approach to governing. It was Palin's first face-to-face interview with a print reporter as Republican vice presidential candidate. John McCain's running mate was in Pittsburgh for a fundraiser at the Westin Convention Center Hotel, Downtown.

About stimulating the economy:

Palin: Energy independence ... certainly will stimulate our economy, circulating the dollars that we're presently spending overseas and in other countries; ... but also the clean coal technology that we got to be able to tap into; and the alternative sources of energy; and also, and as we wean ourselves off the hydrocarbons, the conservation efforts that Americans have got to undertake. So, we got that all-of-the-above approach towards energy independence that we need.

But also -- reducing taxes on our businesses, so that our businesses can keep more of what they're owing and what they are producing and what they are earning, and that way they’ll be able to hire more people. That’s how jobs are created.

So, those two parts of the solution ... and then also government spending, reining that in for now so that we can get a handle on this $10 trillion debt. ... We got to get a handle on every agency, every expenditure. Those things that are absolutely vital ... keeping those things going, but then freezing the spending on other areas of government. We get in there and find the efficiencies that can be created and just spending other people’s money wiser than how we’re spending it today to get a handle on that debt.

About small businesses:

Palin: My husband and I ... owned a business ... and struggled to figure out how are were going to offer (employees) health care and make payrolls, some months, of course, being such a struggle. And then ... my sister and her husband just opened up a service station up there in Alaska also. And I think of my sister, Heather, and her husband, Kurt, and I think now how will increasing taxes on a small business like theirs help them? It will not help them. It will prohibit Kurt from hiring more employees and then those people who cannot get that job, they will become more and more reliant unfortunately on kind of a bureaucratic system that sometimes in a way penalizes hard work and productivity. So it’s win-win if business taxes are reduced like I did in the city of Wasilla where I was mayor. I eliminated small business inventory taxes, wanting again for small businesses to be able to grow and prosper and thrive.

About improving education:

Palin: I’m a governor of a state where I believe in state’s rights and John McCain too. ... As a federalist, he’s saying -- come on -- let our states and let our local districts have more control of curriculum, have more control of their districts, get the federal government out of the business of telling our local districts what they can and cannot do, especially unfunded mandates coming down from the feds ... too many politicians in D.C. (are) so out of touch with the most responsive and responsible level of government -- that’s the local level; that’s your city councils and your borough assemblies and your county commissioners and your local school districts. Let them have more say and more control and really that is the way to turn things around in education also.

How her experience as a mayor and Alaska governor has prepared her to be vice president:

Palin: Yeah, well, I think, of the four candidates, I’m the only one with the executive experience. That needs to be put to good use here, because of course, it’s an executive office that I’m seeking there, and as a mayor and manager and as a small-business owner, as a governor, as a commissioner of regulating oil and gas, that executive experience will be put to very good use. But you know I think even more important than that ... is the world view that John McCain and I share. And that world view is that America is, of course, for good in this world, and we have such a great potential here. We’ve got to get our economy back on track so that we can start reaching that potential. Our world view, too, ... is the vision that Ronald Reagan used to talk about that America just being a beacon of hope for others seeking tolerance and freedom and equal rights, women’s rights. That America needs to be allowed to get back to that place in our world.

About how being a woman would affect her approach to vice presidential duties and decision-making:

Palin: I believe we, perhaps, have less patience for some of the baloney that goes on and some of the time that is wasted, that I think as moms, as women, we don’t have the patience in terms of allowing time to be wasted. There’s just too much to do. So how that would relate to politics is –- I’m not going to let and I’ve never let -- obsessive partisanship get in the way of just doing what’s right for the people whom I’m serving, that’s forced me to take on my own party time and again, and you know I’ve ruffled feathers along the way, too, but it always comes back to, come on, we’ve got work to do, let’s go, don’t have any time to waste.

About her advocacy for special needs children. Her infant son Trig was born with Down syndrome:

Palin: Even before Trig was born, I was a strong advocate for increasing funding for special needs kids in our schools and that’s what I did in Alaska. We increased ... state funding, 20 thousand per student up to $70,000 per special needs student to allow equal access to education opportunities for special needs kids. It comes down to my belief that every innocent human life is to be cherished and provided opportunity. So being able to live that out in a position in the vice presidency I think will be very good for our nation and not just those with special needs and their families but for all of America.

About the role of coal in America's energy independence. Pennsylvania is the nation's fourth largest producer of coal:

Palin: It’s so abundant, we’ve got to use it. It’s got to be environmentally friendly, the development of new technology also. The jobs that can be created as we figure out the clean coal technology ... we can then ... share with other nations like China and other areas that right now are producing the coal, but do not have the stringent oversight ... and do not have the technology ... to clean up our environment as the production takes place. We should be developing the technology, selling it to China and these other countries, and we kill a couple of birds with one stone. We allow those nations also to be productive, but at the same time we clean up the air, the water, the environment, and it can be American ingenuity that gets us there, and, again, that goes back to the bigger picture here where America can be a beacon of hope. There also as we’re making this world a cleaner, better, safer, healthier place, creating jobs at the same time, allowing our own economy to be bolstered with energy independence that this new technology can provide. It’s all win-win.

About establishing a better way for federal money to get to states and communities:

Palin: There’s nothing wrong with a state, with a governor or a mayor requesting of the federal government a share of the federal budget. That’s what the federal government takes our, parts of our, income and puts it in a big pot of money and then they distribute the money. There’s nothing wrong with the mayor or governor asking for that. The problem is the abuse of the earmark process -- those 11th hour behind-closed-door deal-making things ... that John McCain has just been disgusted about and has promised the reform. ... Priorities can be set via a local community’s processes and then have the federal government vet what those projects are and see if they’re in the nation’s best interest also. It can be reformed and needs to be.

About reforming the federal government:

Palin: John McCain and I have the track record of showing real change, real reform, I’ve done that on a city level, on a state level, I want to do it on a national level also. And John McCain, of course, having been known all these years as the maverick wanting to put government back on the side of the people and been very successful there in the opportunities he’s had. That’s what the reform is all about. What that proves, too, is we’re not just talk, talking the talk about hope for change some day in the future. No, we’ve got a track record that proves that we’re the candidates who can make this reform happen, to put government back on the side of the American people.

About an investigation -- the report was released after this interview -- that found Palin that violated Alaska ethics laws and abused her power as governor by trying to have her former brother-in-law fired as a state trooper:

Palin: Haven’t heard what all that report is, but we certainly don’t have anything to hide. It’s important for a governor to take on the responsibility of making sure that everybody in her cabinet is in the right place at the right time to best serve the public. I dismissed a cabinet member because he wasn’t the right person at the right time in his position -- dismissed him having nothing to do with telling him to hire or fire anybody else. In fact, he said I’ve never told him ever to hire or fire anybody. ... (T)he buck stops with you also in an executive position ... But thankfully, ... John McCain, never having run with the Washington herd, he has distanced himself from that herd mentality that just kind of gets to protect one another and not be held accountable. McCain wants to be held accountable and so do I.

sexist?
"that I think as moms, as women, we don’t have the patience in terms of allowing time to be wasted."

Sounds like Sarah might have some sexist attitudes.

Sarah Palin
Whatever happens in this election she will be a star if the Republicans ever have a comeback. She has all the right ideas.

sexist? Johhnyp
Considering the alternative to Gov Palin on the other side of the ticket in influence is Michelle Obama, I would happily accept Gov Palin's type of sexism over Michelle Obama's anyday. If she can go out and kill lunch, clean it, and serve it, I give her lee way on the sexism angle.

Say what?!
I am not trying to make fun of her intellect here, but this embarassing interview raises some obvious and disturbing values questions, especially given the title of this column.

1. Where specifically did she argue for the philosophy of "economic freedom?"
2. How do we "wean ourselves off hydrocarbons" and simultaneously drill in ANWR/offshore and use coal?
3. How is that and "conservation efforts" and "developing these technologies...to clean up the environment" compatible with economic freedom?
4. How is federal funding of special needs children ("in a position in the vice presidency") compatible with either the states rights that she advocates or economic freedom?
5. If she is for economic freedom, why would she object merely to "the abuse of the earmark process," yet support the practice itself ("There's nothing wrong with...that")?
6. "That world view is that America is, of course, for good in this world, and we have such a great potential here. We’ve got to get our economy back on track so that we can start reaching that potential." Please explain. This statement implies that she wants the economy back on track so that we can afford to spend on do-gooding projects. Did I misunderstand? If I did, please explain why she would put the cart before the horse, i.e., advocating fixing the economy instead as against advocating freeing the economy? Does she believe the two are mutually exclusive? If not, why not?

We are owed some substantial answers about her philosophy, values, and priorities, and we have received none.

OBAMA HAS A MORTGAGE FOR YOU !
*
Barrack Obama starts this real estate mess and financial crisis by forcing lenders to give mortgages to people who have a "Right" to a home, but cant afford one.
And now hes going to save us by RAISING OUR TAXES AND FORCING BIG FAT NEW SPENDING BILLS ON US. For all you laypeople, thats the Math they teach in Constitutional Law, Obamas Trade.

You definitely won't find Wisdom like that in the SURPLUS Alaska state budget.
I guess they need some Constitutional Lawyers up there!

OBAMA ACORN and LAWYERS SCREWD US
*BARACK AND JOE

2 Lawyers who:
Never had a job, never ran a budget, feign economic savvy, force bad Mortgages on the economy and then tell us that if we inflate our tires the law of supply and demand will be erased and PAYING MORE TAXES IS PATRIOTIC!
Presidential Candidates ?

The Bridge to nowhere! They both voted for it. TWICE! X2! YEP Lawyers! OBAMA and BIDEN. But does anybody know that? TWICE!
Where is the Media? Busy winning an election by attacking children.

. When Barrack and Joe hook up with Nancy and Harry and Dickie (MORE LAWYERS who also voted for THE BRIDGE TO NOWHERE) and write the law for lawyers instead of for the people, this country's finished.....Maybe it already is.

McCAIN AND PALIN; NO MORE L A W Y E R S

Final Word on Wooten's Discipline

If the taser that Wooten used to taser his son was police equipment, that is grounds for firing him.

In addition, if Wooten used his government authority to intimidate a senior citizen, that is grounds for firing him.

Also, if he had an open container of liquor in his police car, that is grounds for firing him.

If Monegan did not fire him, Monegan should have been fired.

palin over obama
It's better to have a hockey mom in the white house who loves America, than a Muslim who hates it.

I'm glad she's for economic freedom
But as long as they are lying about the numbers, we are going to continue down this road. We need the BLS to be honest and stop the nonsense. Read "The Quality Adjustment Method:

No more interviews until she is ready
This interview clearly indicates that our dear Sarah must begin to write out her views in great detail over and over so that she can explain them intelligently in an interview. That will take a ton of time, but it is absolutely necessary if she wants to give good interviews. It is embarrasingly obvious how unformed her thinking is on these questions. From my own experience, I hesitate to discuss important issues with my friends until after I have thought and written carefully about them. She should not give any more interviews until she can do much better than the above.

LAURA BUSH: LADY LUCK OF REP. POLITICS
Laura Welch Bush, First Lady and wife of the 43rd President, a women who gave birth to twins in 1981 (when John McCain quit the Navy to prepare for his career in politics), spoke in the Twin Cities on day two of the Republican Convention which fell on the first Tuesday of the month. What most Americans don’t know about Laura is that she’s the 44th First Lady in U.S. history; and that 63 days from her convention speech, on the first Tuesday of November, when the nation picks the 44th President, she will be celebrating her 62nd birthday. Indeed, just as that day of decision and destiny falls on the First Lady’s birthday so did this occur twice before in her life. For whenever Laura’s birthday converged with a presidential election the nation went Republican putting Ike in the White House in 1952 and the Gipper in 1980.....

Hey whats up
What's up with all the ... If not mistaken the writer omited something she said when they use ... So does that mean that Palin is...

Not the same ole
She can so relate to the common people and explain things without all the rhetoric. It seems those people complaining about her speech feel she is out of touch? Isn't that a strange conclusion really? Instead she is using talents beyond what the sleazy back-stabbing politicians do- the use of endless blabbering with newly defined wording that Webster himself would have to look up a definition for.
Sarah is a breath of fresh air- we have to have more power in choosing here in
America- we have to have a firmer control on politics and our government- and getting people in the White House with willingness and gumption to start handing over some power to the people is the brightness she speaks of.
Too bad so many people have been following in the shadows of power-mongers that they can only see dim shadowed hopes, and not the true light of the issues at hand.

Sarah is not "sexist."
Johnnyp...It didn't take me long as a youngster to notice that there are certain intrinsic differences between males and females. When I was married for many years, I noticed those differences to a much more pronounced degree. Each sex has certain strengths and weaknesses which are inherent and are usually quite beneficial. That is what makes a good marriage such a wonderful thing when a couple's strengths and weaknesses complement each other. Sarah has noticed that she and other women are impatient with time wasters because they are usually so busy with all their many duties that they cannot imagine wasting any time. That is not "sexist." It is merely a valid observation of simple fact. She does not believe that women are superior to men, only that many of them are annoyed by time wasting when anyone does it.

freedom of speech
either sarah palin appeals to you or she doesn't that's clear.

what's equally clear is that we feel comfortable talking about and criticizing her...for 2 yr. everyone has tiptoed around everything concerning obama and still don't have answers to a lot of it. i think that should concern everyone.

Sure we do have the answers you just don't like them. You insist on "conspiracy thinking" and connecting dots that a UFO believer would call a silly.

Hal
Hal -- most of Washington would have to resign under your standards. Barney Frank with his live in boyfriend senior manager from Fannie Mae should resign over his conflict of interest in writing regulations that imapcted his boyfiends company. Obama for his payments of 852,000 to Acorn -- for his millions in overseas donations. The charges against Sarah are trumped up and puffed up for political reasons, you know that. The actions of the cast of characters in the Dem party (in regards to Fannie and Freddie -- the crux of the whole worldwide financial meltdown) including Obama, Frank, Dodd and others are costing us hundreds of millions of dollars. That is the crime -- your tax money is being stolen because of bad decisions and poor policies. The press turns a blind eye to the real criminals.

No actually I do not. Where did that come from? Look we have had 8 years of abuse of power do we need 4 more? The woman is ethically challenged but all you do is drag out what the other side did LOL.

"...The actions of the cast of characters ...others are costing us hundreds of millions of dollars. "

Oh no this is your disaster and was totally predictable under extreme conservatis. But you folks admitted owning this when in 2004 and 2006 you boasted that you guys had created the largest number of home owners in US history. Now you are reaping what you sowed and in typical conservative fashion try and blame someone else

"That is the crime -- your tax money is being stolen because of bad decisions and poor policies. The press turns a blind eye to the real criminals. "

LMAO the press LOL please stop whining you have your own "press"

It's not Sarah Palin.
I do not here Mrs. Palin's voice in this interview. I here McCain's handlers.

This is too sad. Sarah Palin could be a great asset to the McCain camp, but McCain is such a control freak, he just will not let her say what needs to be said.

Wendy (and other Palin nay sayers)

You said:
"We are owed some substantial answers about her philosophy, values, and priorities, and we have received none."

My answer:
Obama isn't running against Governor Palin (although I wish he was). The answers you seek come from the presidential candidate, not the veep.

I think Governor Palin's philosophy, values, and priorities are right up front for everyone to see, and are a matter of record. Just look at her life and what she has been able to accomplish in her few years of professional life. Amazing.

While we're on the subject, where are Obama's specific and true answers to all of the same questions asked of him. Talk about someone with a slippery tongue - nobody beats Obama... except perhaps Slick Willy (another lawyer).

Here's some Obama material for your ongoing education about the Messiah:

I expect you to come back saying this is all fabricated, but a reasonable man would say where there is smoke, there is fire.

Obama (or whatever his real name is) is a fraud. Palin is the real thing, and she tells it like it is. Good for her. Good for us.

Have a nice day.

Actually no they would not. A reasonable person would concsider the source and other information.

"Obama (or whatever his real name is) is a fraud. Palin is the real thing, and she tells it like it is. Good for her. Good for us."

Obama is a man who personifies the American dream; a child of colour with a single mom who struggled and made it to the highest levels of American society and government. Sarah...
This piece repeats again and again her beliefs she has shown from the beginning.

What I want to know is why Obama has not answered the lawyer and courts of PA in relation to his birth certificate. Why is Obama and the DNC fighting it.

McCain put the papers straight up and said, decide.

Obama, show us you want the truth out and produce the papers asked for. Indonesia schooling was not allowed by foreigners, so most likely you were adopted and a citizen there. Africa did not allow Americans then and so you most likely used your Indonesia citizenship to enter that country.

Just produce the papers the PA courts want. Simple enough.

Whoa!
Even many of the respondents here don't think the Gov is ready for prime time. What does that say about the Senator and his "Country First" slogan?

I've come to the conclusion that Hal D is one of two things. Either he is an astroturfer, being paid for each post by Kos or Huffy. Or, he has a lot of time on his hands because he has a sex life similar to Bill Maher. How's that blow up doll workin' for ya Hal? You gonna get a woman doll next time? Or do you intend to stick with the man doll?

My answer:
You're still a troll, and you seem to have learned to blow smoke with the best of them. By your spelling of 'colour' I suspect you are a Brit, and don't have the slightest idea about the American dream. Your comments certainly don't reflect my ideas or my neighbor's ideas of the American dream.

So, if you can substantiate any of your off-point arguments with real facts, maybe I'll listen to your POV. I said maybe.

Otherwise, you still need to have a nap - one that happens only in Disneyland, and then, when you awaken, the sun will be shining, the birds will be singing, and the love of your life will have prepared a nice hot breakfast of bangers & eggs for you to enjoy.

BTW, like Governor Palin, I am not running for president, so my potential fraud level can go quite high without hurting anyone else.

Obama's real fraud level, however, can hurt America for decades. That's why he has to be stopped by the mature and reasonable American voter.

I find it hard to believe that ...
someone can be as ignorant of the truth as Hal Donahue. It must be in the genes because his brother, Phil, plays fast and loose with the facts as well.

Look, Hal, nobody here wants you to keep bringing up the eight years of abuse of power that went on during the Clinton years. The United States was strong enough to survive him, and if we have to, we'll survive four more years of abuses under Obama (please, God, NO!).

I do wonder, however, how much longer our nation will survive. We are so far from the republic our Consitution defines, it's frightening. The citizens of this great country have forsaken their responsibility to hold their elected officials accountable. We have been sold into slavery packaged as security. Time doesn't appear to be on our side anymore.

You only get to claim "single mom" status if you are actually a single mom, that means you are not married and the child actually lives with you and you provide for that child.

I read the first 3 paragraphs of your interview with Governor Palin. I just could not suffer anymore! I would like to know if the word "Get" has a history. I have never been so irritated by the usage of a word,by any person until now. Mrs. Palin is a committed politician but she is no Harvard graduate. The economy of America is not understood by many. I would venture to say, that the beginning and causes of these economic "Woes", remain unknown to 99.9% of Americans. I could tell you the When and How but it would only cripple the handicap. SORRY...

Real tax reform
THE ULTIMATE FEDERAL ECONOMIC REFORM
We the people pay all taxes, and we are the only ultimate source of all tax revenue. Regardless where government initially collects the money, all tax money ultimately comes from us, the people, even though business has to pay thousands or millions of dollars at one time, and get it back from us one dollar at a time.
Since we the people are the one and only source of all tax revenue:
There should be only one tax to collect all tax revenue.
It should be a single, simple, fair, direct, graduated, individual, full-income tax levied on living persons for each level of government: One Tax and Done.
The best thing that government can do to help the country, the people, and even government, is to repeal all of the many hundreds, or thousands of existing taxes, fees, and charges. These taxes are the federal deficit. These taxes are the high price of everything. These tax eliminations are spending cuts. Every tax that is eliminated is a tax that we the people no longer have to pay. These taxes are the difference between the price we pay for health care and everything else, and the price we would pay if these taxes were repealed. Eliminating these taxes will remove them from the price paid for everything by everyone, including government.
One Tax and Done will provide many benefits to all, even government:
One Tax and Done will reduce the price paid for everything by one-third.

DON’T WORRY JOHN MCCAIN HAS A PLAN.

SARAH PALIN WILL SAVE THE NATION’S ECONOMY!

McCain said to the Wall Street Journal, in November 2005: “I’m going to be honest: I know a lot less about economics than I do about military and foreign policy issues. I still need to be educated.”

In December 2007 McCain again made a similar statement, while also saying that he’d like to appoint a vice presidential running mate who is “intimately familiar” with economics, Sarah Palin? Is this the financial genius he was talking about?

In a Chicago Tribune Interview 12/07: John McCain said, “The issue of economics is something that I’ve really never understood as well as I should. I understand the basics, the fundamentals, the vision, all that kind of stuff,” he said. “But I would like to have someone I’m close to that really is a good strong economist. As long as Alan Greenspan is around I would certainly use him for advice and counsel…”I’ve never been involved in Wall Street, I’ve never been involved in the financial stuff, the financial workings of the country, so I’d like to have somebody intimately familiar with it,” he said of a potential vice presidential candidate, and that’s Sarah Palin?

Notwithstanding what the MSM reports to demoralize and deactivate Republicans, I assure you that this is a VERY CLOSE race; it’s two points in either direction after adjusting for (1) the Bradley Effect and (2) and what is likely is exceptionally high McCain-Palin turnout based on fear and loathing of Obama’s radical socialist ideology, Chicago machine origins, terrorist connections and black separatist church roots. This second factor CANNOT be captured in the current sampling frames. Bottom line, if the McCain-Palin registered voters participate at a 75% level, the election is ours.
Stir the turnout motivation by speaking directly to everyone about how an Obama presidency would be a disaster for America through legislation, executive orders and judicial appointments:
X A massive tax increase on small business owners sucking the life out of an already weakened economy and sending us to the brink of a depression
X Increases in capital gains rates—another economy-killing measure
X An end to any reasonable prospects for offshore drilling for oil and gas to create energy independence
X Open borders, subsidized college tuition, social security and drivers’ licenses for illegal aliens
X Unfettered far left policy making power in the troika of Obama, Pelosi and Reid
X Reinstitution of affirmative action and racial quotas
X Increased federal funding for abortions
X Restriction of the Bill of Rights with union thug card-signing intimidation and imposition of the inappropriately labeled Fairness Doctrine
X A weakened defense and foreign policy, including derailing the Reagan Strategic Defense Initiative
X Appointments to the Supreme Court, Courts of Appeal and District Courts that distort the Constitution.

Palin Rambling
This is the way Palin delivers, none-stop rambling. Nothing clear, nothing consise.
Her Joe six-pack style is so irritating. The Presidency of the U.S.A. is not the presidency of the P.T.A.
So Sad.

Straight from the Heart
The nice thing about Governor Palin is that she does not sound like or act like a Harvard Grad (most important she doesn't act like one). She is a straight talker who has a record for doing what's best for the people she represents (and a high approval rating in Alaska to confirm that). As the saying goes, she not only talks the talk but walks the walk. As for the Harvard/Ivy School types, they are busy making money on sub prime loans and running our government (:
Obama, Reid, Pelosi - what an alternative!!!

Dr.Chaz
Did you say, that you are a Psychologist? I would suppose your degree is from UK. Please allow me to help you with a simple thought. You don't need to cut Capital Gains, when there are no Capital Gains. Do you know how much money the American people have lost? If any gains are to be had, they will be had by only a FEW.I am always amazed at the "Stupidity" of Americans, especially those with PHD's. Stop mimicking what you here and learn economics and Taxation for yourself! "Dumb As"...

America hating left wing loonies........
consistently attempt to infiltrate Townhall because they have an irrational fear of patriotic Americans telling the truth about the self-proclaimed "I'm not qualified to run for President" Barry. Further evidenced by the same claim being promulgated by both Biden and Clinton. So while you supporters of the Manchurian Candidate Hussein point to Palin as unqualified, I find it interesting that no mention of your supposed Messiah's total lack of qualifications are proffered...hmm.

To the left wing drones who post here, there are plenty of far left wing blogs out there, where your hatred of America would be embraced. The fact that you're totally hoodwinked by a MSM created empty suit, friend and associate of terrorists, their supporters as well as a representative sampling of communists and socialists, says all we need to know about you.

By the way, since you Neanderthals are so in the tank for Hussein I'm sure you could get him to release all of the documents and records being hidden from public view. And while your at it, ask him respond to his cousin Odinga's latest e-mail requesting his further advice in imposing Sharia Law in Kenya. You know, like all of the other e-mails that have been exchanged between the two through one of Hussein's handlers to hide his identity; Certified copies of which are being revealed on Hannity tonight by Jerome Corsi.

love her
Love Sarah Palin, I really do. She's smart, has integrity, and fights for what she believes in. She will do well at whatever she sets her hand to.

But can someone do something about her speech please! I suspect rapid fire thoughts are the cause. She is thinking so fast, that she drops off one thought and picks up in the middle of another without even realizing it.

It makes for very incoherent delivery. Leaving the reader or listener to fill in the blanks on what she leaves out. That works for the more intelligent, plodding, deliberate, elephant. But for the jackasses in our midst, it must be a nightmare to try to figure her out! Jackass is too busy kicking up his heels to stop and have an original thought.

Eleanor
What's the matter, can't handle the fact that, perish the thought, a woman is far more qualified to be VP than your media created plant done nothing plant Hussein is for the top job. I find it telling that Hussein himself stated not that long ago that he wasn't qualified to run for POTUS. Further the telling that that exact comment was made by both Biden and Clinton on the national stage. I like your Joe six-pack rant, you mean as opposed to Biden, the my lips are moving so I must be lying version of Joe six-pack....hmm! The guy who frequents Jennie's restaurant, because he's just like one of us, even thought the restaurant closed 20 years ago! Biden is dumber than a stick but what would you expect of a law school cheater!

The fact that you would put a real women down, who has probably done more in her spare time than you could ever accomplish in your lifetime, tells me all I need to know about you.... your either a joke, on drugs or both. Sarah probably has a higher approval rating in Alaska (the highest of any governor in America) than you do in your own home, if you have one!

I like where she
breezily says "... and then also government spending, reining that in for now so that we can get a handle on this $10 trillion debt. ... We got to get a handle on every agency, every expenditure. Those things that are absolutely vital ... keeping those things going, but then freezing the spending on other areas of government."
Gee, what a plan; freeze spending in those (undefined) "other areas of government". Those who think she's unqualified are wrong: she's every bit the professional politician.

Sarah Power
I believe Sarah would be the best thing this country could wish for - she's been down the road - small business, Mom and education, energy, a mayor and a Governor. I guess those who don't like her - must like people in power with no experience whatsoever - therefore I have to deduce that they are either on the dole and want all the freebies that Obama promises (that those of us who pay taxes will have to pay) or are just plain stupid. Obama is a thug and a crook - no matter that he took the second highest amount of money from Freddie and Fannie - that he was the lawyer for ACORN - which is at the base of voter fraud and the financial debacle. I have to believe that anyone voting for Obama does not believe in the America I knew - and the one our founding fathers set up. I wonder how they'll like it living under socialism and Marxism - because that is what Obama is preaching.

Obama's birth certificate
WHY IS NO ONE IN THE MEDIA BRINGING UP PHILLIP BERG'S LAWSUIT CLAIMING OBAMA'S HAWAIIAN BIRTH CERTIFICATE IS A FORGERY? ACCORDING TO STATEMENT MADE BY MEMBERS IN HIS FAMILY HE WAS BORN IN KENYA - HIS MOTHER WENT TO HAWAII RIGHT AFTER HIS BIRTH. THE DEMOCRAP'S ARE TRYING TO STALL THIS - WHAT HAPPENS IF THE LAWSUIT IS NOT SETTLED/ HE BECOMES PRESIDENT? IMPEACHMENT OR ARE THE DEMOCRAP'S GOING TO TRY AND CHANGE THE CONSTITUTION/ ACCORDING TO THE CONSTITUTION (FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO LIVE IN RIO LINDA) THAT DOCUMENTSTATES NO ONE NOT BORN IN THE US CAN BECOME PRESIDENT.

killer
For someone who complains about Sarah Palin's speech, you own grammar leaves much to be desired. Enough already with the gratuitous quotation marks and upper case letters.

modmark
Of all the dull, slow-thinking liberals who post on TH, you are perhaps the slowest and dullest.

And, while it is usually my policy not to engage conversation with anyone who isn't at least as intelligent as say, a pencil eraser, I will make an exception by addressing your braindead post about how she dresses and wears her hair....

If Sarah's target audience was people like Bill Clinton, you might have a point. But Republicans aren't that naive, modmark. We support people because of their ideas, their integrity, etc...., not because they look good on camera. And we don't fall for smooth talking empty suits like Obama - no matter how he looks, we don't like his liberalism. We think it's dangerous.

But back to Sarah, she IS good looking. But only shallow people (re: Democrats) think in those terms, modmark. Intelligent people (re: Republicans) will be voting on the issues, thank you.

All your post did is to expose the shallow, mindless thought process of the average liberal, or below average liberal as the case may be. That's how YOU think, so you assume that's how others will think.

The real difference between conservatives and liberals is that conservatives actually DO think.

Or in the immortal words of Anne Coulter: "If Democrats had any brains they'd be Republicans".

mod mark,paul,rowly
MOD...shame on you for shooting holes thru
sarahs conservative image ! Naughty,naughty!
She comes accross as pro business but she wants to sock it to the oil co.!Hmmmm, I guess they are not BUSINESS?!
PAUL.... NO, I ACTUALLY PREFER A ROMNEY/JINDAL
TICKET OVER SARAH/JUAN !
ROWLY/MOD MARK.. IS IT TRUE THAT WHEN SARAH WAS SELECTED ALASKA WAS 13 MILLION IN DEBT?
IT CAME UP IN HER FIRST BIG INTERVIEW AND THERE HAS NOT BEEN MUCH IN DENIAL!BUSH CUT TAXES BUT HE THREW AWAY HIS VETO STAMP...IS HE GOING TO RUN FOR GOV. OF ALASKA? If the gop loses Sarah
can show W how to skin a salmon in less than
60 seconds! Yehaaaaw!
Smile....

Annfan
Actually, Mod brought up some good points about Sarah and oil co.! They were not liberal talking points !But your points about integrity
were very good! I have seen denial all over the place concerning Sarah...yes she is a good lady
but there are some things that raise my eyebrow about her as a Gov.! Just because I don't want Obama doesn't mean I should look the other way
in regards to anyone ..including Sarah!

I'm still waiting for modmark to say something that ISN'T a talking point....

As to Alaska's debt, you Democrats just don't allow yourselves to think too hard, do you? The legislative branch spends the money, just as at the federal level.

Therefore the governor is not the one responsible for the state's debt. The legislature is. Ms. Palin had the good sense to cut taxes, though....let's give her credit for knowing who it is that actually earns the money and who it is that wastes it.

Would that Democrats would demonstrate even that minimal level of common sense.

But no, they're too busy bashing this fine woman.

Shame on all of you. Sarah Palin is a class act.

The best of the bunch...
...is Palin.

Obama is a socialist, and a lawyer.

Biden is an idiot, and a lawyer.

McCain is a "Democrat-lite," and lost four planes as a pilot (what did THAT cost the taxpayers?)

Palin is a normal person who understands normal people.

That's enough for me!

McCain: Please win, then resign the very next day.

Mod Mark
BP is just sniveling the Gov played hardball with them. The true test of whether it hammers their bottom line too much is if they are willing to let those leases go away. That is one thing I do agree with moderates on, use those leases or lose them. I don't find those oil taxes anti conservative, especially when it seems like very few states are beating down the door to drill on the OCS. The individual state that drills has every right to get the best deal they can get from oil company, especially the closer to the coast the drilling is. I love it when moderates think they have found conservative hypocrisy. I would be saying the same thing if Obama was pushing Illinois to drill in Lake Michigan and wanted to state tax whatever oil they got out of that.

sheez whiz....annfan
Now Iam a democrat because I mentioned ModMark said some things that were logical !
I haven't been a democrat since Andrew Jackson
Was he a democrat? I can't remember?!
I mentioned that Sarah super was a decent lady
but I am very confident that she is not ready for the job of prez!
I dont know if Mod Mark is conservative, liberal
or moderate but when someone says something that is logical and that goes for MOD MARK or anyone else! Then it is logical!
Annfan,yes...legislature passes the bills including spending but where was Sarahs veto stamp???? Another Bush- conservative cut taxes
that is good but spend like a dying person is also what Bush did?Remember?! Sarah..sorta looks like that to me!Get out that veto stamp
folks!

The next VP clearly will be Palin
I can't wait for Palin to become VP. She is clearly more qualified then Obama and has an understanding of how to get our economy booming. It really is amazing how anyone could think a man who has never created a job and with no true public policy accomplishments is more qualified then a woman who understands business, has run a business, has family that runs business’s and knows what it takes to actually create jobs, in addition to her accomplishments of true public policy reform. Obama’s only real accomplishment is running for office, which is no true accomplishment. Of course, we are voting for the top of the ticket and what McCain offers this country based on his history and what we know he can do is no comparison to Obama who is a snake oil salesman and less qualified then the Republican VP. I am so confident and excited that Palin will be the next VP I’ve bet all I own on it.
