Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

Barack Obama's foreign policy is beginning to take shape. Semantically, it's a sharp repudiation of the policies of the George W. Bush administration. In reality, it's something like a continuation of Bush policies. Or, if you want to distinguish between the allegedly confrontation-minded policies of Bush's first term and the more accommodationist policies of his second term -- a distinction that I think is exaggerated but has something to it -- then it's something like the second Bush term. With, of course, some differences.

On Iraq, for example, Obama has agreed to maintain large numbers of troops there for 19 months -- longer than he promised during the 2008 campaign -- and many for some indefinite time after that. That has gotten a few antiwar protesters marching and must have left many of those Democratic voters who ached to see America defeated in "Bush's war" feeling frustrated -- or inclined for the moment to change the subject.

On Afghanistan, Obama has ordered 21,000 more American troops to the theater -- including 4,000 troops announced last month -- and is continuing unmanned aerial vehicle strikes on unfriendly forces in Pakistan. This is consistent with his long insistence that Afghanistan is the "good war" and with his surprising comment during the campaign that he would strike enemies in Pakistan. But his decision also makes Afghanistan Obama's war and imposes on him the political necessity of securing favorable results within what voters consider a reasonable time, which Bush failed to do in Iraq.

And then there are those semantic changes. We are no longer fighting a "war on terror." We are instead conducting "overseas contingency operations" and, as Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano said, responding to "man-caused disasters." (Napolitano might have used the gender-neutral "human-caused disasters.")

We are no longer holding for indefinite periods "enemy combatants." But we will keep holding indefinitely those we catch on the battlefield who do not obey the laws of war (which is the definition of enemy combatants). We are closing the prison at Guantanamo Bay and releasing some of those held there. But the Bush administration released some of those held there, and we will keep holding those deemed dangerous somewhere or other. We haven't quite determined where that is yet. But the town fathers of heavily pro-Obama Alexandria, Va., have let it be known that they don't want any held in their jail for trial in the local federal court.

On some matters, the Obama administration is trying to make substantive as well as semantic changes, some out of an impulse, common in most new administrations, to renounce the darn-fool ideas of the jerks in the previous administration. Vice President Joseph Biden promised to push the "reset button" on Russia, and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton presented the Russian foreign minister with a big, red reset button. Wrong word, the Russian said, in what I'd guess was a bit of disinformation.

The president himself in a video saluted the Islamic Republic of Iran -- not words Bush used -- on the occasion of a (non-Islamic) new year's holiday and has ordered diplomatic approaches to that nation. None of this has evoked even a grunt of emollience from the leaders of those countries. But, as Obama said in his news conference, he didn't expect that, and he believes that in time, persistence will pay off. Well, maybe.

In the meantime, an administration of a party that called for respecting our allies has shown disrespect to some and is not getting much respect from others. The administration, at the behest of U.S. labor leaders, is not pushing the free-trade pact with Colombia, the third-largest nation in Latin America. It has banned Mexican trucks from the United States, in violation of the North American Free Trade Agreement. It has waffled on installing the antimissile batteries in Poland and the Czech Republic, which those nations accepted, risking the wrath of Russia. It gave a frosty reception (and some nonplayable-in-the-United Kingdom DVDs) to British Prime Minister Gordon Brown and granted a quick Saturday meeting with Brazilian President Lula da Silva. It sent a policy letter to the president of Italy, a head of state who plays no role in policymaking, thus ignoring the pro-American prime minister, Silvio Berlusconi.

These are rookie mistakes, perhaps, and probably mendable in time. But as Obama embarked on his first presidential tour in Europe, he seemed to face a reception considerably less enthusiastic than he got from the ecstatic crowd in the Tiergarten in Berlin last summer. Economic stimulus packages like America's? Most European leaders are not interested. Military assistance in the "good war" in Afghanistan? Sorry, our troops are occupied elsewhere, and many of those already there must observe rules of engagement considerably more restrictive than those of the NYPD.

So this new administration, like others, is running into reality. Much of the Obama foreign policy seems sensible, and, well, every administration makes some mistakes. But I wonder whether it will turn out to be a political asset. Continued military efforts in Iraq and Afghanistan could disillusion left-wing antiwar voters who flocked to the polls in 2008. And to the extent that the Obama term is the Bush second term, recall that after his confrontationist first term, Bush won re-election, while after his accommodationist second term, his party got clobbered.

But prediction in these times is perilous, though not as perilous as the unknown dangers we may face ahead. Good luck, Mr. President.

The President of "Goddamn America"
We've just witnessed what is surely a very important - I hesitate to say historic - moment in transatlantic relations. Barack Obama went further than any previous president in apologising for American behavior.

"In America, there is a failure to appreciate Europe's leading role in the world," the President of "Goddamn America" said in a prepared speech delivered before a campaign-style town hall meeting in which he took questions from mainly French and German students.

The man who has never had anything good to say about this country, and who before becoming President was a rabble-rousing "community organizer" who, along with his radical leftist America-hating buddies had as their agenda to "fight against 'the man'" and overthrow our system of government; some of them openly declaring war on America and engaging in terrorist bombings, went further to add:

"Instead of celebrating your dynamic union and seeking to partner with you to meet common challenges, there have been times where America has shown arrogance and been dismissive, even derisive."

Thanks to what I consider the enemies and haters of America who elected this less-than-a man to officiate over the destruction of our Constitutional government, we now have been "blessed" with a "president" that has as his mission in life to not only concede America's leadership, but who is all too willing to spit on the graves of all the Americans who throughout the 20th century and in two world wars, liberated Europe and the world from Nazism, Soviet enslavement, and the fascism that Europe itself bred and was unable to save itself from.

We have, thanks to the people who voted this irresponsible @$$ho!e into power, a president who the world is taking the measure of...and who find him sorely lacking in authority or character.

The President of "Goddamn America"... at all costs.

Beware the EU
The Franco German alliance that created the EU has smothered democracy under a blanket of rules from Brussels. Now, all they want is to extend that hegemony to the world's financial systems under Europ;ean bankers at the IMF. The 20 meeting is a nauseating CYA cluster**** Each of those "leaders" played a part in the economic meltdown. None are fit to rule the world.

The Teleprompter Rides (Spews) Again 1
"In America, there is a failure to appreciate Europe's leading role in the world," the President of "Goddamn America" Barack Hussein Obama read from a teleprompter prepared speech delivered before a campaign-style "town hall meeting" in which he took questions from mainly French and German students.

What is Europe's leading role in the world?

The Teleprompter Rides (Spews) Again 2

Was it Europe's "leadership role" that stood up to Adolph Hitler and Benito Mussolini as the Nazis Blitzkrieged their way across the continent toppling one country after another leaving a trail of death, misery, and bombed out cities and towns? Was it Europe whose leadership liberated the death camps of Buchenwald and Dachau? Perhaps it was Europe's leadership role that was responsible for liberating Poland and France and Romania and Austria and Romania from Hitlerian Nazi occupation. Can we now attribute the defeat of Al Qaeda and the almost complete end to their worldwide exportation of indiscriminate murder and Islamic aggression against Christians and Jews and anyone who refuses to bow down to their malevolent repressive hate-filled "god"?

Just what is this leading role of Europe that I (and apparently all us failures who call ourselves Americans) are failing to appreciate.

And what is the "leadership role" that this President of "Goddamn America" Barack Hussein Obama see as his duty to this country other than to destroy it? Does he perceive his role as the Diplomat of Appeasement to Hamas, and Iran, and Cuba? He certainly cannot find it within his teleprompter to criticise anyone but the people he was presumably elected to represent, while heaping nothing but praise and apology for our "arrogance" and "derisiveness" upon those who represent our undoing.

And if Europe has the "leading role in the world" what is the role America is to play to Europe's "leading role" in the opinion of the teleprompter President of "Goddamn America" Barack Hussein Obama?

Clueless
This administration is completely clueless on both domestic and foreign policy. Every time he opens his mouth the market tanks. He talks of being fiscally responsible, but proposes multi-trillion dollar deficits from now to eternity. He spends more in his Porkulus bill than has been spent in seven years in Iraq and Afghanistan. Every foreign leader he meets, he snubs or insults. When he's off teleprompter, and asked non-softball questions, he makes George Bush look literate!! We're looking at four years of Jimmy Carter 2.0, if we're lucky. Mr. Afirmative Action President....

Very nice article
I really appreciated this article - found it nuanced and insightful.

Even though I'm liberal, I'm still glad to see the world taking a more jaundiced view of the big O. Only because what we need more of on earth is honest critical thought. From my perspective, any misstep from Obama and I'll vote him out next term. The cult of personality around politicians is deeply troubling - our public servants should be judged on their decisions while in office, nothing else.

I chalk the little mistakes (dvds, letters sent the wrong place, weird Russian translations) to the rookie factor.

I'm more concerned with this sentence:
"Continued military efforts in Iraq and Afghanistan could disillusion left-wing antiwar voters who flocked to the polls in 2008."

If Obama thinks we're going to war our way out of war, it will make many of us on the peace side upset. But I'm heartened at his open video letter to the Iranian people, and the "olive branch" to the Taliban. In both cases, it's to be expected that the first advance will be refused - because those in power are there based on the fear of the US they have instilled on their population (much like GW was able to do to us).

However, each of these countries have their own Obamas-in-waiting, ready to answer the call to peace.

Time will tell. It could very well be that Obama's in the pocket of the corporations that profit from war. But it also could well be that the world is about to turn a corner and for once (possibly the first time?) the dominant state on the planet chooses peace.

It will certainly be interesting.

I can't respect
Obama. He is always siding with the enemy. He and his cabinet say we can do nothing about Iran getting a nuke and N.K. firing a rocket. The most fitting name for this so called president is just plain WUSS!

Mental meltdown
I heard someone on the radio say that we can solve everything wrong in the world by just talking it out with those who hate us and want to kill us. These people really believe that if we would have taken the time to have tea and cake with Hitler and some sweet talk that he would have become a different, sweet and caring man. Yea and if someone would have had a beer with Charles Manson and some sweet talk the Tate Family would still be alive. How about some common sense. If sweet talk would solve all problems there would never have been and bullies in the world but we all know that is not real life.

Moderate taliban?
Is that like Taliban lite? All the hate but only 30 calories? This is another statement that only a mental case would say. There is no such thing as a "modrate killer". If you believe there is, please get some mental help before you flip out and kill someone! (Probably yourself).

I can't wait to sack this ZERO!
Gawd, I never though I would see the day that I would LOVE to have George W. Bush back! This fool is an appeaser and will get many of us killed by his wussiness. He has put a target on the back of every single American. The IslamoFascists can smell weakness and blood in the water. They are gearing up and will make their move. I pray we all survive it.

The Difference Between Bush and Obama
Is that George Bush really loves this country.

End of story.

opening eyes
There should have been something done about acorn long before this.Lets see how long it takes the president men to try and shut this investigation down. We wouldnt have been in such a mess if the media would have done their job and reported all stories. This guy is going to get us all killed.

With friends like Wobbie I.Q. 29...
does Obama need any more enemies? If so,he has one here. You really can judge a man by his friends.Even the French probably like him after he groveled at their feet. The best thing we can do is fight him at every turn in an attempt to make him a one term Commander-in-Chief.The election in 2012 can't come soon enough.

Peggy ...
and he (GW) was/is an honorable man!

Fraud
Obama is nothing but a fraud. How he fooled so many American fools to become president is beyond my comprehension. He is leading us over the cliff. These are fearful times. We need a grown up for a president, not this fraud punk.

Hi Bravemonk!
Time to get braver! You wrote:

"These people really believe that if we would have taken the time to have tea and cake with Hitler and some sweet talk that he would have become a different, sweet and caring man."

I would agree that you can't persuade an individual who has made their "brand" a hatred of the Great Satan. However, there are easy steps that will persuade WIDE swaths of the population not to play into the fear these types are peddling.

Don't miss the lesson before our eyes. If we reach out to the people, the people will respond by choosing better leaders.

Peggy ...
there are those among us who simply credit GW with keeping us safe (faint praise) ... he decimated Al Quaeda (sp?).

We need to stop eating our own children ... we should note that the Left doesn't ever eat theirs.

Those who don't learn from history...1

Sadly, the people who voted for Barack Hussein Obama approached electing someone for president of our country, much in the same manner, and with the same shallowness as one would vote for the winning float in a Halloween parade. The image he conjured up in their imaginations wasn't diminished by his true makeup being no more than paper macheted and oatmeal glue. All semblance and no substance.

His ascension, however, is not without parallel.

Saul, like Obama, was a tragic example of a man who started well but finished poorly.

Like a man on a rooftop, Saul came from obscurity, reached a peak and then slid down the other side.

When the people of ancient Israel asked for a king, Saul seemed like a perfect fit. There was a mystique about him that appealed to people. They wanted to see impressive size, good looks and outstanding image in their first king. Saul had come to the peak of the roof. He had won the people's vote. Public opinion ran high.

But as we all know, people who hold such high positions run the enormous risk of a fall.

A spirit of pride, impatience, jealousy and rebellion can cause such people to defeat themselves and cause untold suffering for themselves and for those around them.

No doubt, cheering thousands greeted the elevation of Saul...but at what price?

Those who don't learn from history...2

Three things happened in Saul's life that aborted his ascent and started him down the road to destruction.

First, Saul took himself seriously, but he didn't take God seriously. I Samuel 13:9, with the Philistines perched menancingly all around them, in an irrelevant act of pride and arrogance, Saul took it upon himself to offer the sacrifice that was only to be made by Samuel the priest.

Second, Saul took himself seriously, but he didn't take God seriously. I Samuel 14, Saul let his growing ego get in the way of his respect for God.

Third, Saul took himself seriously, but he didn't take God seriously. Contrary to Samuel's direct marching orders, Saul spared Agag (Chap. 15). When Samuel confronted Saul, Saul passed the buck and blamed the soldiers (15:21). But Saul later admitted, "I was afraid of the people and so I gave it to them" (15:24). Saul's loyalty to God's commands had been replaced with shallow rationalizations.

Here the nation was enduring a tough, unstable transitional period. They had pressed for a king and had gotten their way. It became Samuel's lot to confront them--to spell out the lack of wisdom in their stubborn urgency to be like "all the other nations."

They saw the foolishness in their decision after the fact...isn't that usually the way it is?

If all the cheering throngs of all the other nations of the world greet him, what should that mean to a Christian? Is that how you judge right from wrong?

"Now here is the king you have chosen, the one you asked for; see, the LORD has set a king over you. If you fear the LORD and serve and obey Him and do not rebel against His commands, and if both you and the king who reigns over you follow the LORD your God--good!

"But if you do not obey the LORD, and if you rebel against His commandments, His hand will be against you..."--I Samuel 12:13-15

OnceAlwaysAMarine ...
very interesting parallel. Damn ... now I'm going to have to read the Bible!

Peggy
Its clear that you never read this article. In many respects Obama's foreign policy is like Bushes. Thats no surprise, the facts on the ground have not changed and like the economy Obama inherited the Iraq war.

On Afganistan, Obama has been consistent with his campaign promises. On Iraq, I think that now that he is getting all the real information he is discovering that things are not going as well as the Bush Administration had led us to believe.

Everything about the way he conducts himself disproves all the lies about him spread during the campaign.

Mitchell
Me too. My memory is going back to my grade school, where the teacher read a chapter from the Bible every morning. We started every class day with the Pledge, the Lord's prayer, a Bible chapter and sang America. Samuel and Saul. David and Goliath. Joshua and Jericho. the Christmas stories. The sermon on the Mount. And my favorite parable, The Good Samaritan.
Thank you to all the great folks who share their thoughts here.

Bravemonk
you are stillof the conservative mind that any negotiation that does not employ empty, swaggering postures of power and arrogance and is reaching for a more sensible balance of power instead of the empty bully-boy rhetoric of the past 8 tears is somehow weak.

For the first time we have a president who is negotiation with his brains and not his wrinkly-bits.

Obama Smoke
He doesn't give a rats behind about what is going on around the world. His mission is to remake America into a society that regulates the economic condition of all. He and his ilk see economic disparity as the great evil and will do all they can to erase it. In doing so they will bring misery to all. Lets see if he can spread that evenly.

State Run Media Will Coddle Obama...
... as long as the can. Rahm and Axworth are writing their copy now and issue the Sunday Morning talking points to Stephie et al. With the Pravda-like MSM refusing to do any reporting of FACT and merely regurgitating the SPIN coming out of the WH, America's ability to gauge how far down the tubes we are going will be hampered. But body counts are impossible to fudge (witness Vietnam) and when Obama's bumbles start costing lives it will be hard to hide.

The Kenyan Klutz

bowed to the king of saudi arabia!

Trulib, Joel-De Opresso Liber, American
You guys speak for me. Saves a lot of typing, so thank you.

As A Wussy European..
..the major difference I can see between Obama and his predecessor is that, rightly or wrongly, Bush was considered a laughing stock in the 'rest of the world' and Obama, again rightly or wrongly, generally appears well liked. We even had 'Michellemania' in the UK. Laura Bush always seemed a thoroughly decent bright woman to me but she didn't receive that sort of reception on her travels in the UK

vespanat wrote:
'Bush was considered a laughing stock in the 'rest of the world' '

I think Uday, Qusay and Saddam would beg to differ with your opinion.

Obombo is working on his image as a klutz...he just bowed to the king of saudi arabia.

American presidents bow to no one...until now.

Vespanat
Welcome to the colonies. I hope you are receiving the same sort of warm welcome i received from the Brits on Ascension during the year i spent there.

The different receptions received by Bush and Obama are almost certainly due to media image. Perceptions are real, but they are not necessarily reality. The fact that Obama oozes about murmuring mea culpa, forgive us please, doesn't hurt his image with the offshore folks. If he'd been president instead of FDR, no doubt France would still be speaking German. I'll give the Brits credit for finding some way to muddle through. Hitler didn't want England anyway.

meaningless soapboxes
Ya'll keep preaching to each other but nobody else is listening. The conservative movement has been eviserated, lacks credibility, lacks new ideas, lacks a plan and has no viable leadership. Your overt criticism of the Obama administration is soley based on conjecture at this early stage.

Enjoy the Wilderness, you might be in it for a good long while.

Pistol...
...thanks for the welcome, I actually lived in the US between 1994 and 2000 before returning to Blighty, I had a great time there and have many fond memories. Hawkeye, it's precisely that sort of clumsy macho posturing the made the rest of the world consider Bush a laughing stock.

What change?
Every one of Pres. Bush's successful strategies are being pursued; the war in Iraq- still going on, the holding of our enemies in confinement at Guantanamo- still going on, the escalation of combat in the Afghan front still escalating (even more than #43 could have proposed without calling down the wrath of the surrender at all cost crowd), bringing more countries into NATO - which does not bring more strength to the organization, but it does cut down the Russian intimidation factor.

The biggest difference is that while Obambi does these things, all identical to Mr. Bush's policies, he says he isn't. And the MSM agrees, and calls what was once denounced in the media as every kind of wicked folly, wisdom.

Robert
"New ideas" as in not following the rules put down in the Constitution, are what got us to this point. Do you like the new ideas the Obama administration is implimenting? You know, increasing government control, spending money we don't have, that kind of thing? Wait a second, those aren't "new" ideas, they've been tried a lot of places throughout history. Misery has been the result.

Hawkeye
I didn't see Bush bowing but I do seem to remember him holding hands with the Saudi king. Doesn't that count?

Joel-De Opressor Liber
The prospect of an actual armed, give 'em a fair trial and then hang 'em revolution is fun to speculate about, like kids playing cowboys and indians. But thankfully, odds are it won't happen. When people have enough to eat, and are occupied with the problem of acquiring more, they are historically too well off to revolt. Affluence does not take risks, even for freedom. Second, we still have the vote. If things really tend toward bad enough to enable armed revolt, the chances are excellent that the voters would call a halt. Reagan Democrats, educated by Peanut Jimmie, stifled the last indication misery index was headed for out of sight.
On the other hand, affluence is hardly permanent and the market is a great indication of how quickly it can disappear. One source of initiation of force is inner city riots, because misery will almost certainly hit there first, for many reasons. The last round of riots taught inner city property owners that LE and National Guard were totally ineffective and that the property that was not looted and torched was that protected individually by armed owners. About 90 looters were shot during the Rodney King vacation break. It is not impossible this could escalate until people were forced to choose sides. Another posibility, as you note, is Ruby Ridge redux. The govt handled the outrage by portraying Weaver and Koresh as criminal perverts. This was hardly the judgments of their neighbors, but was supported by MSM. This is the best reason not to start something, unless govt can clearly be seen to be the instigating villains.

Obama Read like a Book
Obama says, retracts and says then does. He introduces you to his idea. It repels the masses so he retracts. Then he gives it again, but now you are over your initial reaction.

Then he says it some more and applies it.

America is allowing his Introduction, rhetoric, implication method bring socialism in full swing. Socialism has been here a long time. Just putting final touches on if not stopped dead in tracks.

Listen now, quote, ""man-caused disasters." What a fancy way of saying we care. In war there is not caring, just a mission. Most buy this introduction with line, hook, and sinker.

This phrase will not be also brought to America when the military is used for social unrest. A military trained in Missions not civil unrest.

Wake up America.

BO LIKE BUSH?
Funny, I don't recall Pres. Bush bowing deeply at the knee in obeisance to a Saudi Arabian King (Protector of the two Muslim Holy Places) not required by protocol after the cursory bow given to the Queen of England (Head of the (Christian) Church of England).

Come on libs, bring up the holding hands with a Saudi Monarch (recommended by protocol) as an equivalent.

“Arrogance” “Dismissive” and “Derisive”

That was Bush’s foreign policy according to the new Jane Fonda President.

The Rat’s foreign policy will be to surrender our sovereignty, to beg forgiveness for how bad the U.S. is, and to bow in submission to 7th century Wahhabi chieftains.

This man is pure evil and I pray for the destruction of evil. May God strike him dead with a lightning bolt!

Trulib
Fiscal conservative, social liberal. Believe in strict interpretation of the Constitution. Founding Fathers had it right.

Entitlements are way over the top. We should drug test if on welfare, legalize and tax marajuana, death penalty advocate, keep our guns, mandatory military or social service for all. Not sure on national health care. Strong two party system is best (Americans can't handle more than two choices at one time)

The US is the best hope for the world, but we need to lead by example.

I equated new ideas with economic development, not changes to our political processes.

"Overseas contingency operation?"

To me an "overseas contingency operation" is what happens when a kid with a backpack goes overseas and he's not sure if he will stay at a hostel or camp under the stars.

Vespanat
No one cares much for macho posturing. I note Obama's request for NATO troops to help in Afghanistan has b een politely rejected. For many years i have advocated the return to continental US of American troops in Germany, Korea, Cyprus, Bosnia, Kosovo et al. We get nothing for assuming this expense, and on the contrary, the free world is weakened by the complacency of many countries. They assume they need no military expenditures because the white hat lads from across the pond will come sailing to the rescue. I doubt this will happen again.

Va Te Faire Foutre, Barack, Le Roi!
How dare you call Americans "arrogant" in Europe! But for our blood and treasure, Europe would be Hitlerland.

And, does anyone know what Europe's leading role in the world is?

Europe was the birthplace of totalitarianism, Marxism, fascism, and communism.

I lived in two European countries and, trust me, you do not want a new Europe here.

Pray tell, when a disaster occurs in the World, who gets the first call and most of the bill?

Also, whenever has a sitting President of the United States trashed his own country overseas?

And, who gave the most money and aid to Africa and immediately to countries after the Tsunami?

AMERICA is the greatest nation on the planet for a reason. We don't want to become Europe.

Bush might have been "cowboyish", but only an arrogant man would call us arrogant.

BTW: The French protocol calls for a kiss on both cheeks, so you don't kiss Nicholas Sarkozy ONCE and refrain from "donner deux baisers" the most glamorous First Lady, Carla Bruni, ever.

Vous, monsieur, êtes un embarras!!!

Va Te Faire Foutre, Barack Le Roi!

Conjecture? Get a clue, Robert.
"Your overt criticism of the Obama administration is soley based on conjecture at this early stage."

Even the Congressional Budget Office says that Obama's spending spree is "unsustainable" and will add more to the national debt than did all previous administrations COMBINED. Jeez, we're getting lectured by the Chi-Coms about irresponsible spending, and the sad thing is they're right.

Conjecture?

The One says that his administration is not interested in "running GM." Of course they're going to fire the CEO, replace the board of directors, dictate which cars GM will be allowed to manufacture, and unilaterally place the US taxpayer on the hook for warranties.

Other than that, they're not interested in "running GM." Conjecture?

This windbag voted for all of the various "stimuli" and bailouts of the previous admin., but incessantly bellyaches about the deficit he "inherited" while simultaneously insisting that only by massively INCREASING spending will we cure what ails the economy.

But I'm sure you'll still be singing his praises all the way down the crapper with the rest of the drones.

Denise, Rock Strongo

The blood we shed bailing out the Europeans in WW2 is just one more example of do no good deeds, suffer no ingratitude. Time to bring home the boots on the ground in Germany, Korea, Kosovo, Cyprus, et al. Our support of NATO and UN decisions is totally one way. Viz. Dumbo's request for NATO help is Afghan politiely declined. We can maintain PC membership if we want, but just no contributions.

Rock Strongo
Liberals have no awarenes. Those aware have no memory. Those who remember believe the end justifies the means. Fortunately they are so dam stupid they have voted themselves into misery. Its not the affluent and capable that suffer the most when business tanks. Its the poor, the illiterate, the unskilled. Check your McDonald's to see how many kids are working there. They no longer have to put up with 50 percent turnover every month. The workers average age 40 and NEED a job. And they work to protect it.

Disgraceful
In order to ingratiate himself to the leftists in Europe, Obama denigrated his own country. Unprecedented and shocking. We are stuck with this US-hating, racist charlatan for four years, but we must oust his fellow Democrats in this next election and stop this socialist steamroller.

JMO51 - He's Acting As Predicted
"Everything about the way he conducts himself disproves all the lies about him spread during the campaign."

Au contraire, he is "acting" exactly as he campaigned. For many of us, we have known that he was telling the truth about his agenda all along. The only difference is that, instead of selling "Sugarcandy socialism" to just us arrogant Americans, he is going for the Jack Dawson, "I am the King of the World" role.

Sayeth His Barackness:

Don't be silly. Shut up, I'm rich! I'm richer than all this old or new trash! I've got a printing press and still have checks at The Treasury.

I AM big. It's the bitter or rich people that got small.

There's nothing tragic about being poor. Not unless you're trying to have money or used to have any.

All right, World, I'm ready for my close-up.

Long since have I been ahead of the curve...

I have driven a foreign car since I was 18. Expensive Europeans are my favorite, but I used to drive Japanese while at Harvard and Georgetown Law School.

I refuse to buy anything "Union-Made" unless there is no other choice.

I converted my assets to gold, diamonds, silver, platinum and land long before the "bubble" burst (July), especially when it became apparent that Barack The First might be elected. Further, only my estate attorney knows in which country the movables are located.

I spend money on one day a week only.

I have reinvested my income into my company so that I will be under the $250K figure. And, will continue to do so as the tax levels are lowered. In fact, if need be, I'll retire at the ripe old age of 42.

I own my own home.

I send my children to private schools.

I own a police-issued riot gun, along with other firearms that go perfectly with my 1000 designer FMPs, which aid me handsomely if of Mugabe's goons try to confiscate anything.

And, I have a $20M life insurance policy and trust funds for my two children in case I lose, but keep in mind that insurance proceeds are not subject to the death tax.

Keep living in your Otopia, because many with brains are far in advance of you.

Have a nice Jim Jones day and drink more Obama Kook-Aid.

Oh, and fill up your gas tank, use natural gas or petroleum products, including lipstick. I thank you very much.

RockStrongo - points taken
Without viable counter proposals (see the Republican budget alternative), what suggetions are being proposed? Keep doing as we were? Staying the course was not working out very well.

Criticism is wonderful and neccesary, but not particularly constructive without alternatives to choose from.

The verdict is still out.

There's A Method To This Madness.
There is a reason we conservatives are called the 'RIGHT'. It is because we are right. If you are not right, you are wrong. How much plainer can it be? Don't throw in George Bush in this equation...he is not and was not conservative.

We are right about everything we say about the criminal element in this administration. It has been a bloodless coup,a plan hatched years ago and patiently has come to fruition.

I doubt many lemming followers really aim to destroy our country. They are naive and fell in love with a mirage. One who does not have America's best interests at heart. Unlike the 'right',they will be shocked at what is in their future.

BO LIKE BUSH?
Funny, I don't recall Pres. Bush bowing deeply at the knee in obeisance to a Saudi Arabian King

I recall the hand holding and the kiss. The KISS! Of COURSE the Bush family is tied closely with the Suds, and this is no secret. Bush answered entirely to the Sauds, and showed no allegiance to America when in the presence of the King. The Bush family is well lubed with Saudi oil, and must bow before the money altar.

Did I get that Con attitude right? Just trying speak in a Con-like fashion so you will understand. If you are freaking out about protocol and wish to make it into something more than a simple meeting protocol, then look no further than GW for the most foolish public displays.

Does this guy support Legaized Pot?
Cause he's smoking it too. Foreign countries are not reacting to obama like Bush, especially india and pakistan, I guess the North Koreans and Iranians are but with less fear.

Rethugs=Party of HATE, NO IDEAS

Clearly, you are the enemy of this country.
And for all us brain dead traitors who accuse Obama of weakening America by admitting that --yes, we've made mistakes -- how did u feel when the idiot frat boy you elected twice looked into the eyes of our mortal Russian enemy and said he say a 'good soul?

I should probably go easy today on you gap-toothed lowlives because you're in mourning for the Binghamton gunman who was just exercising his 2nd Amendment rights.

I encourage you all to get some professional help if u intend to make it thru the next 8 years. Otherwise, I'm sure you'll start killing abortion doctors or blowing up federal buildings...stuff you're good at.

Pistol & baseballdoc
Pistol: "The blood we shed bailing out the Europeans in WW2 is just one more example of do no good deeds, suffer no ingratitude. Time to bring home the boots on the ground in Germany, Korea, Kosovo, Cyprus, et al. Our support of NATO and UN decisions is totally one way. Viz. Dumbo's request for NATO help is Afghan politiely declined. We can maintain PC membership if we want, but just no contributions."

They are contributing a few boots on the ground (in the form of "trainers" and policeman) and some money, but His Barackness has informed them that they will not be needed in Pakistan. So, first, can you say "nation-building" through the "good war"? Secondly, relative to Pakistan, we are going to "go it alone". And, GWB was crucified for these.

baseballdoc: HOW TO GET EUROPE'S ATTENTION ... Threaten to pull out of NATO.

Too late. Obama has just re-upped. He has equated American's exceptionalism with that of Greece.

IMHO, NATO will be as useless as the UN shortly. Between Russia's provision of nuclear materiel to Iran and the exploding radical Muslim population in Europe, socialized Europe may very well be thrust upon the dust bin of history.

I wonder if Chanel has a designer burqa?

Personally, I would like my sister and her family that live in France join me in The Bahamas or some other socialist-free haven.

What those in America, who are advocating socialism and/or big government, fail to understand is eventually the money runs out.

And, I am doing my part to make sure that there is total colapse of the agenda of His Barackness. I will pay as little in taxes as possible. No money? No Socialism or worse. No money? NATO and the UN can "collectively" kiss their arses.

Don't you often feel like one with a single eye living in a completely blind city?

Why you un-cooperative rich person you. How do you expect Dumbo to spread the wealth if you put yours out of reach. This is only supposed to be done by fat cats like Soros who have bought their way into inside info, and the Kerrys and Kennedys who generate the inside info. Somehow people who buy their Ripple at the cheapest liquor store don't understand that affluent people put their money where they get the most back from it too. Like you, as soon as it became very likely that the govt was going to try to spend the bit of wealth i control, i did much the same as you. Here in Brevard county, real estate is falling through the floor as the unemployment rate goes into double figures with more bad news on the way. My wife has wanted a beach condo for a long time. Looks like i'll be able to pick one up cheap. I expect to pay off the mortgage with pocket change in a few years.

Bush
You guys who hate Bush can't sleep at night thinking of oil. The Bush family has less than a 6% interest in oil and all of the Bush oil was in Texas. You need o get your rose colored glasses and find another excuse for hating the Bushes. If Bush did cozy up to the Saudis it was in the interest of lowering the oil prices for the citiens of this country. You need to be looking at people like Al Gore when comes to oil.

Stilla- articulates RETHUG hypocrisy

Reality: Ramrod legislation through before even those voting on it have a chance to read it.

Words: "I'm a firm believer in capitalism."

Reality: Only if "capitalism" suddenly means "massive government influence over what little remains of the private sector."

Words: "We're not interested in running GM."

Reality: We'll run GM, but we'll tell the benighted masses we're not interested in running GM. Saps like "Lonny" and "JMO51" will buy it.

"France and Germany are sending troops to Afghanistan..."

Are trainers and policemen now considered troops?

"so you can conjecture all you want..."

If you listened to Obama's presser, which he held moments ago, there is no conjecture.

"Obama is going to be the success that..."

Successful at what? Socialism, Marxism, communism or totalitarianism? Which have been successful? Are you dumbing down the definition of success so that all participants get a trophy? Wilson and Nixon would be thrilled to know that their Presidencies can now be considered successful.

"combined with the right's utter lack of ideas"

Conservatives have ideas, but they fall on the ears of whiners.

"other than Jesus will be here any day..."

If only that would happen. Of course, 12.21.12 may signal the beginning of "the end", which would eventually bring about the return of Christ, since the Book of Revelation dictates that evil will occur that will trigger the return of the REAL Messiah.

"you Cons cannot handle..."

No, we just will not pay for your Otopia.

You guys need to come out of the clouds. Obama is not an overnight sensation. The planning for him has been going on since the 60's. The facists/socialists just didn't know who they were going to groom for the part. Don't think he just appeared in the communit organizing. They have been trying to bring this country down for years. Thre founding wrote things in the Constitution for that reason. They just didn't anticipate that the people of this country would be so foolish to let it happen. Look at what is happening. All of the CEOs aqre Dems. They brought these companies while collecting their money. As you can see a lot of these bonuses went back to the politicians who protected them. They like to blame the Republicans because they think we need someone to blame. There is a resemblance between the propagators of this curret mess with Obama and th Al Quaida, they have been patient enough to bring all of this about. Remember in Sicilism, they government wants to run everything including you, your family, your job, etc. I am beginning to understand where all of the militas are coming from, are they not right now about the government taking over and everybody thought they were crazy. Remember also, these militas are run by retired military personell who knew what was going on.

As a retired soldier
I can tell you that you are not going to negotiate with a terrorist. We have tried that method time and time again. People in other parts of the world, mainly the young who were brainwashed from the time they were born will not use reason because they don't know how. They only know to kill. There are times when force is necessary. That’s just life. We saw that in Iraq time and time again. No soldier that I know likes war because war is bad. People get killed and that’s always bad. Here is a test you can do at home. Find a person who had their home broken into and were held at gun point and ask them how negotiations went!

"Successful at what? Socialism, Marxism, communism or totalitarianism?"

Are you sure you understand any of those terms? Is it the desire to communicate and work with other countries the problem? Is it the additional $3,000 wealthy people pay on every extra $100,000 they earn the problem? Is the President Obama's ability to look into the eyes of a leader and claim he has a good soul... oh, that was GW.

You and Beck get together and read some books on what each one of those terms means. For the sake of time and simplicity, maybe Wiki will suffice. Get back to us when you realize how incredibly silly it is to follow the O'HannityBaugh politics of misinformation.

Socialism, Marxism, Communism, Bushism... all the same to a Con.

Change
You guys who wanted change don't even know what you wanted change from. You listened to the news media who hated Bush because of the Gore thing and decided from day one that Bush needed to be changed and you fruitcakes for Obama got on board. You are like the dog that Pavlov trained.

Most ignorant statement of the day...
"For all his faults Obama recognizes that America is more aa dream then anything else...a vision of what is best in Americans"

The Obamunists and the puppetmaster Soros don't see what's best in America. They see a fantasy world based on Socialism and want to impose their impossible dreams of utopian totalitarian social control on America and force a continually failed system on us in the ignorant hopes that maybe this time, government slavery of the populace will work.

They won't rest until we're all feeling what the poor do. It's retribution time for the neo-commies.

Lonny
Neither Bush were Conservatives. They were Liberal Republicans, i.e., "compassionate conservatives". They carried the Republican mantle, which is not the same as being Conservatives.

As a fiscally-conservative (Constitutionalist) Independent, I had the opportunity to meet both. For Bush the Elder, I refused the invitation. As for Bush the Second, I did meet him and asked if he was crazy because Putin was and is still a form of the KGB. Also, I was outraged by his deficit spending and his efforts in Iraq (but I, of course, support the troops).

Read and learn. All Republicans are not Conservatives. A few examples should suffice: The Ahnuld, Specter, Collins and Snowe.

Is there ANYTHING that His Barackness could do that would cause you to disagree with his actions? Or, could he just find the real killer of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman, part the Red Sea, and find Martians? Would that feed into your love affair with His Barackness?

OK, how about fascism?

"Where socialism sought totalitarian control of a society’s economic processes through direct state operation of the means of production, fascism sought that control indirectly, through domination of nominally private owners. Where socialism nationalized property explicitly, fascism did so implicitly, by requiring owners to use their property in the 'national interest'—that is, as the autocratic authority conceived it."

Nothing like that going on here, eh?

"Planning boards set product lines, production levels, prices, wages, working conditions, and the size of firms."

Can you say GM?

"Levels of consumption were dictated by the state, and 'excess' incomes had to be surrendered as taxes or 'loans'."

Sounds eerily familiar--seems like I've heard some recent wailing about "excess incomes" somewhere...

"To maintain high employment and minimize popular discontent, fascist governments also undertook massive public-works projects financed by steep taxes, borrowing, and fiat money creation."

Again, has a familiar ring to it.

Communism,Socialism,etc.
Our future cannot be called socialism, fascism, etc. yet. It has some elements of different ism's. Fascism comes to my mind as the dominate one so far.

One thing we do know....capitalism is a dying ism. All the isms are a run-up to communism. We may never go that far,but where we will go is not good...except for the 'Ruling Class',which we will not be a part of.

The fight
Robert - "The fight is and was in Afghanistan."

I have heard or seen this from many Democrats when they complain about the war in Iraq. But I remember one of UBL's top people stating that the central front of the war against us was in Iraq.

Fortunately, we have made great progress in that war since the surge. I for one see great hope for them in the future. It may just be the start of that part of the word actually becoming civilized at long last. It would be nice to finally know that there isn't a lot of torture and killing going on, as there has been for longer than I have been alive, in that part of the world. It may just be possible for Israel to live without the fear of being attacked in years to come.

I have a question for Robert
I was a soldier in Iraq. Are you saying that everything I did was immoral? Regardless of the reasons we were there we helped those people. All the Dem's wanted to show on the news was the body count. Most Iraq citizens were glad we showed up. I will agree that things did not go as planned at times but those people showed us soldiers much love for our time and trouble. And what was that speech from Kerry? I voted for it before I voted against it. They all saw the same reports! I know because we basically read from the same intelligence. NO WMD's? Who cares the man Saddam was a ruthless killer who mass killed his own people. If one of our presidents killed thousands of Americans would you not want someone to help us if we felt powerless? We gave those people the gift of freedom. You should be proud of the sacrifice we made for them. We sure were not proud of those calling us killers in the night but we are used to being crapped on by dem's! Not a good way to treat the American soldier.

No. Listen and verify.

"Is it the additional $3,000 wealthy people pay on every extra $100,000 they earn the problem?"

No, if used for successful programs. Pie-In-The-Sky programs are not! Do you not think that cap-n-trade taxes and "buy a cigarette, help a child" are? These taxes are REGRESSIVE. Do you believe that only those making an extra $100,000 will be the only ones to pay higher energy fees and cigarette taxes?

The concept of nation building was cover for the Bush administration. It sounded better than "US attacks Iraq".

Iraq will fall back into its old ways soon enough. Sad but true.

We need to protect US interests first and last, not Israels interests. We need to be judicious in the battles we wage.

Why did the Obamunist party...
...have to pretend they were something they were not in order to con the populace in to supporting them? Tax cuts, working together with the private sector for economic solutions, strong national defense, blah, blah, blah.

We know the neo-commies are only out to "remake" America in to a Soviet Union, or Venezuela that actually works.

My question for the neo-commie infiltrators from moveon.org that have infested this site. Do you intend to make more people wealthy through Obamunism, or make more people poorer through Obamunism? If the childish, arbitrary notion of "fairness" is your goal, then who gets to determine "fairness"? What are the criteria?

Fair to whom? The Marxists who feel that everybody is stupid and they need to control us? Why can't that be the decision of every individual to determine his own concept of fairness in the decisions he or she makes in their every day lives to make their own circumstances more fair through hard work, getting their own education, striving for the next promotion, negotiating for their own wages by making themselves more valuable to the enterprise for which they work?

Why do the totalitarians have to impose their homogenization on all of us?

Stop rewriting history.

"There was no threat to The Republic. It was all either made up or exaggerated."

Not according to The Senate Select Committee on Intelligence (SSCI) which "did not find any evidence that intelligence analysts changed their judgments as a result of political pressure, altered or produced intelligence products to conform with Administration policy, or that anyone even attempted to coerce, influence or pressure analysts to do so. When asked whether analysts were pressured in any way to alter their assessments or make their judgments conform to Administration policies on Iraq’s WMD programs, not a single analyst answered 'yes'."

Beyond that, there was not a single country whose intelligence agency doubted that Saddam was in the process of developing Weapons of Mass Destruction, and/or that he already possessed them.

"the American people in large majorities agreed to go to war...because they were told the threat was real, it was verifiable and it was imminent. They were lied to."

Actually, they weren't. Here's what they were actually told: "Some have said we must not act until the threat is imminent. Since when have terrorists and tyrants announced their intentions, politely putting us on notice before they strike? If this threat is permitted to fully and suddenly emerge, all actions, all words, and all recriminations would come too late. Trusting in the sanity and restraint of Saddam Hussein is not a strategy, and it is not an option."

It is true that not all of the intelligence was entirely accurate, but intelligence gathering is an inexact science and errors do not equal "lies."

Japan got 60% of it's oil from us. We worked with our allies to cut off ther oil for the death and destruction in China.

Hyperbole, sarcasm, versus facts
The truth, of course, is that campaigning is much less challenging than governing, which is Barone's point.

Frustrated with Obama's first couple months, the hard left is slinging its usual blend of hyperbole and sarcasm, but the reality is that Mr. Obama is obliged to continue most of the Bush policies, domestically and in foreign affairs.

The issues we face with North Korea, Iran, and with radical Islam generally, are real, and once a president--any president--is charged with defending this Republic, you'll see a distinct departure from how he campaigned.

Combined with the tainted history of Keynsian economics that's wearing thing even among moderate Democrats, Obama's dream of Western Europe in America is being challenged on every front.

Comments such as those above, which make up in exaggeration and myth what the lack in substance, are fodder for the ill-informed and merely confirm what mainstream Americans across the political spectrum are beginning to understand: Obama is an arch liberal who has statist dreams and believes statecraft will work well against the likes of Iran and North Korea.

A dose of history would cure him of that, but, of course, he and his ilk don't read history.

So now you have to tell Beck to settle on fascism. It is funny to see other Cons come to the aid of Cons who will write in one sentence that we are heading towards Communism, Fascism, Nazism, Totalitarianism, Marxism, Marxism... name the ism, and a Con will lump everything into one lump of "be afraid... be very afraid".

I'm not for all of the bailouts either, but calling it Fascism is a bit of a Con stretch. I watch/laugh as Beck tries to paint the new administration as (place horrible -ism here) and he can't keep his isms straight. Cons follow will illogical lumpings of all sorts of isms and then Rock come to the rescue with yet another ism.

Unlike you, I supported it AFTER our troops were fighting. Only a traitor would not support them then. I was not in favor of going in the first place.

Where does that leave you,Professor?

Obama's policies
Didn't think I'd approve of any policy decisions made by Obama, but I do approve of at least three: Keeping troops in Iraq, increasing our troop level in Afghanistan & banning Mexican commercial vehicles from our highways.

During a three week trip to the Valley of Mexico a few years ago I concluded that the Mexicans are even more maniac drivers than the French. I'm satisied if Mexican trucks continued to be allowed on our highways, the serious accident rate would eventually jump sharply.

inthemajority of self-anointed geniuses
First off, who the #$%& is Beck? Did I mention any "Beck" in my post?

"I'm not for all of the bailouts either, but calling it Fascism is a bit of a Con stretch."

I know libs have a deficiency in reading comprehension, but please point out to me where I called the bailouts fascism.

What they are is the confiscation of wealth from the productive to prop up failed enterprises that should be prevented from wasting society's scarce resources by the natural weeding out of inefficiency that is the hallmark of the free market. In short, they are rewards for failure and the antithesis of free-market principles. That the left should favor this is hardly surprising.

I merely listed some of the characteristics of fascism and their startling similarities to what we are witnessing before our very eyes--obvious parallels that are lost on those who are too lost in Obama's hallmark bromides to view them objectively.

P.S. You're not even mildly funny.

Irrelevant and insane
Conservatives may be irrelevant and insane but we sure attract a lot of attention. There seem to be mostly liberals in this thread. It must pay well for so many to be interested in showing us the error of our ways.

Does comparing what Obama does with what he says threaten them somehow?

On the other hand, does refuting trolls advance conservatism or inhibit their agenda?

Soldiers did not make the decision to invade Iraq. The Bush administration, and Bush as commander in chief, put our troops in the line of fire under false pretense.

It is not the resposibility of our government to depose dictators and build nations under force of arms. If a dictator presents a clear and threat to the United States, it is the obligation of our government to destroy that threat. This benchmark was not met when we attacked in Iraq. The rational was manufactured.

Iraq, unfortunately, will not take advantage of this opportunity. It was a doomed mission to begin with, as anyone who had a clue about the history between Sunnis and Shiites would have known from the get go. The idea that the Shiites would embrace the US was, at best, naive and at worst, coldly calculated to confuse the American population.

The service of our Armed Forces has never been questioned by me. I spent too much time in it to allow others to diparage it.

Thank You - Good Article
Thank you for the excellent analysis. I hadn't thought of it quite that way, but believe you are right. Given the current world alignment, this is probably about as much change as Obama could prudently make. Based on the coverage, I do get the feeling that there are two key differences in the Obama and Bush are treated on the world stage. I believe Obama has much more credibility than Bush, but he has very little of the credibility or respect of Bush. By that I mean, the public and the press adore Obama and his wife. They dispised Bush. However, Bush received a lot more respect from the world leaders. They paid a lot more attention to what Bush did and what he said. I'm not sure if Obama lacks credibility because he's a rookie, because he's a lightweight or both. I guess time will tell.

As usual, great posts, and the 5:45/5:55 very astute. Where is our Samuel? We had many so called Christians of all persuasions cross over and vote for the death cult party. They should have read Proverbs 24:12, 13.
I have done a comparison study of Pharoah of Exodus and the Big O..couple that with another
take on King Herod and it's very likely O could be in major trouble with Almighty God.

Pharoh ordered the death of Hebrew baby boys from birth to three months.
O ordered the deaths via Executive Edict of
babies around the world; for embyro research and refused to vote for BIAPA; made a sick joke at the expense of Special Olympics (many of the babies murdered by Induce Labor Abortions are Downs Syndrome).
Pharoah Arrogant and narcissistic
O Arrogant and narcissitic
Pharoah had his pagan priests
O has his pagan "priests' Vicky Gene Robinson,
Bishop of the N.H. Diocese of the Apostate Episcopal Church (my former denom.), the not so Rev Jeremiah Wright etc.
Pharoah believed himself to be a god and accepted worship
O believes he's perfect and accepted the god worship of his koolaide cult. Did not as
the Apostles did, stop the worship.

And
Herod what a piece of work.
he stood before the crowd and bragged on some
big agreement he'd made and the crowd worshipped him and he accepted it.
Remember, he'd earlier had killed all the innocents in Bethlehem looking to kill Jesus.

Obama how many times have we seen him in the past few years, standing before a mass of worshippers, head up as a Pharoah/Herod accepting the praise and worship of his cult?
Sometimes in rather garish staged venues..the
Greek Temple comes to mind.
His first edict was to pronounce a death sentence on every preborn baby in the world on our dime..in fact issuing a torture and execution edict on these innocents.

And I ask, "How long O Lord, How Long?"

ONLY IN STRONG HOLDS
ALL GITMO RELEASEES SHOULD BE PLACED IN THE HOME STATE OF PRESIDENT GEORGE W. BUSH AND THEN THE OBAMAMNATION NEED TO ALLOW TEXANS TO DO THE JOB HE WAS TO DAMN COWARD TO DO. ALL WOULD RECEIVE DUE PROCESS AND JUSTICE, NONE IN HARRIS COUNTY WHERE INCOMPOTENTS WORK IN THE PROSECUTOR OFFICE ACCORDING TO HARIS COUNTY D A LYKOS. TEXAS HAS IT'S FAIR SHARE OF UNITED STATES JAILS. I AM AWARE UNION LOVER US SENATOR JOHN CORNYN DO NOT WANT ANY GITMO DETAINEES IN TEXAS. IN THE NAME OF DUE PROCESS AND JUSTICE THE PEOPLE OF TEXAS WILL HAPPILY SIT ON JURIES AND RENDER FAIR VERDICTS. TEXANS ARE NOT SCARED TO SENTENCE THOSE WORTHY TO DEATH.

We Shall See...
After his brilliant victory over the French in 1871, a diplomat once told Field Marsall von Moltke that he should be compared to Fredrich the Great. Moltke retorted:

"No sir, I am not half the commander that Fredrich was."

The diplomat then asked why.

"Because I never commanded a retreat."

We shall see what kind of Diplomat or War President Obama is when things go south. What will he do if casulties in Afghanistan equal or surpass the 2004-2006 totals? What if the Shias try a coup in Iraq? What will Obama do if things continue to deteriorate in the Southwest US? What if a terror attack occurs with even greater casualties than 9/11.

You play too many video games.

I can assure you that my VN service was from 68 to 70. I have no idea what the World War Crafts game is.

It is very typical that a liberals military service is discredited and called into question by conservatives. This behavior was standard when I was in the service and continues to this day. Take note Bravemonk.

And
Pharoah shook his fist in God's face more than once, in his pride, believing himself to be equal if not higher than the God of Abraham, Isacc and Jacob..reneged, chased the Hebrews and ended up not only getting wet, but very dead.
Herod, collapsed after his prideful acceptance of worship, dying five days later after suffering severe abdominable pain.
I would hope that our psuedo potus would heed the warning of history and repent.

Denise: love your posts, you do not take any prisoners, I'm an independent conservative also.

Soldiers did not make the decision to invade Iraq. The Bush administration, and Bush as commander in chief, put our troops in the line of fire under false pretense.

WMD argument? It went far beyond WMD's and if you dem's sucking on Obama's dick would open your eyes you could have seen that Iraq was a staging ground for many other terrorist's like OBL. As soldiers who were there WE SAW PROOF POSITIVE and were TOLD FIRST HAND by many, many Iraq citizens that OBL spent much time there as Saddam was helping the cause of terrorism. Saddam was helping to train terrorist groups. That is 100% fact. End of story there. Period!

Lets roll it back for a moment and act like we never heard of WMD's. Even if it were just the fact that Saddam was doing mass killing that would be reason enough to go there and free those people. It does not matter if the people like Robert think that is not a good reason or not! Saving lives and restoring some balance in a country run by a dictator is always a good enough reason and yes it will cost lives as well but many more were saved than lost. Grow up Robert and maybe someday you will not have to spend your life as a dem butt muncher!

Keeping The World Spinning
We have a man and woman in the White House that when they speak the world listens. No president or first lady including George or Martha Washington were so popular. They might not have the answers to the worlds economic problems but they both know how to keep us spinning.

I have an ever-growing suspicion
that Obama is a front-man for someone else. His bizarre behavior during ad-lib sessions are becoming increasingly disturbing. Without TOTUS he is a lost soul. He is passable with informal chit-chat, but when faced with any question of substance, he blows it big-time and goes off in incoherent babble. I used to detest him but now I just feel sorry for him because it is plain that there is nothing upstairs and he is just a fool being used.

Melvin
Obama's popularity is shallow. PM Merkel doesn't seem that enarmoured of our new Prez, and overall Obama gave the EU/G20 everything they wanted and got nothing in return (Obama is revisiting that old Cold War relic: Arms Control; NATO will stop supplying troops and money to Afghanistan; the WTO will get new powers to regulate our financial markets; and Obama promised to match the EU's $1 trillion to the IMF). In the meantime, very little was said about Obama's flooding the world markets with $5 trillion of borrowed money, which incidentally will decrease the value of thier "investment" in US debt.

As a matter of fact, very little was said about the spiralling out of control costs of the Welfare State on either side of the Atlantic. Both the EU and the US are approaching bankruptcy vis-a-vis pensions and retirement health care. Economic growth is the only way that we can even come close to funding these twin time bombs. The EU was eeirily polite, and did much to hide thier disappointment of Obama's obviously anti-growth statists policies. In the bad old days, at least they could always count on the US to grow the world economy. With Obama, they see one of thier own.

melvin
Remember the old commercials that said "When E.F.Hutton speaks....everybody listens". Well, most of us don't like what we hear from Obama and sure don't like what he does.

What Obama is doing disproves a lot of lies alright. The ones he told about himself to his supporters.

Wonder Barbie
Am I sarcastic in this "Alice In Wonderland" World? The plea is guilty.

Am I racist? You must be kidding me. Yes, I identified the race of the lovely Ms. AirTran, but only because the LSM continues its propaganda that all African-American's support His Barackness en masse. As I told you, my BFF is "black" (she does not go for the AA label). She, along with her entire extended family, voted AGAINST Obama.

Now, I have a question for you? Where do you stand politically? You voted for Reagan and Bush the Elder, hate Bush the Junior, and love His Barackness. You are kind of all over the Bermuda Triangle map.

As a Conservative-Constitutionalist Independent, I am ALWAYS consistent.

And yet, you criticized me when I posted that MI5 and MI6 had placed London on its highest security level ever prior to the G20 meeting!

Again, leave the asylum for fresh air and facts.

BTW: As a military man and "Ranger", what say you about those that would undermine or do away with completely the Second Amendment?

AMERICA IS ARROGANT
so speaks our President to Europeans. Holder says Americans are cowards, Michelle Obama says Americans are mean. I've had it with this adminstration.

None of them have ever stood tall and say they are proud to be Americans and appreciate this country for giving them the opportunity to be leaders.

Hence forth he is not my President, I have no respect for Barack Hussein Obama, now nor ever.

Who killed 4 white officers in Oakland? An African-American career criminal. And, why did the African-American community celebrate the death of the murderer?

Who murdered 13 people trying to obtain citizenship at the Binghamton, NY, Immigration Center? An Asian, Jiverly Wong, who was depressed about his poor English-speaking skills, believed he was being teased about, and his recent unemployment.
.
Who slaughtered on African-American and two Caucasian police officers outside of Pittsburgh? A 23 white loser, who lived in his mother's basement.

And, Fox News and white people are to blame for an African-American, Asian and loser white boy immigrant and cop killer?

What are you smoking?

Nato is worthless. Why we are involved I don't know. The Europeans are rich, and have over 350 million citizens. They need to defend themselves, even if it means cutting back on their other government-paid (read taxpayer) benefits.

Thats OK Robert
Call me names all day long. I am just a retired soldier that helped many people have a new life in Iraq. I took orders and did my job. I was not able to sit home like you and play politics. Most soldiers will agree with me that when we saw, first hand those mass graves with dead bodies of people who disagreed with Saddam, our hearts were broken for them. Reminds me of Hitler who just did not like Jews so they had to go to gas chambers and burned in ovens. Anyway, after we witnessed that first hand the reasons behind going there had no hold any longer. The politics, Bush, oil & WMD's lost all meaning. The only thing left was humanity. Any leader of any country who would do that to people needs to be stopped at any cost because the cost to humanity is too high. Keep in mind that those people were Mothers, Fathers, Sisters and Brothers, etc. What if you were living there and one of those people in the mass grave was your Mother and/or Father. This argument over politics vs. humanity is sickening. Want to call me a loser because I don't bow to kiss the feet of Obama, that’s fine. The job of a soldier is one where we are used to most people taking a dump on us. We are good guys as long as we do the dirty work but then afterward we get dumped on. We are used to it. So you go ahead and keep playing politics while the rest of us live in the real world and do what we have to do to clean up your mess after you get done playing politics.

Au contraire. My BFF is African-American.

What amazed me was that the en bloc support for Obama in the African-American community, who is what my friend, M., would call an "Oreo", was not so "solid as a rock" as the LSM pontificates endlessly. In fact, Ms. AirTran had voted for Obama, but is now disillusioned.

Long have I held the position that the GOOBERMINT sees in only one color: GREEN. Red, White & Blue appears to be damn-ed.

I will not hold my breath awaiting your apology since I recognize your inability to admit when you are wrong. You essentially called me a nutter when I warned of MI5 & MI6's concern for turmoil during the G20, which was confirmed by Christopher Pope of the Daily Mail. Will you do the same now when most of the world is atwitter and on edge awaiting a missile launch from North Korea? Probably, but life must be nice on Mars.

Of course, you are probably playing Gendarme and lobbing tear gas in order to break up the mob. Could it be that the whiners, poor, disenfranchised, redheaded, etc., of Paris are "fâché" because Obama didn't make an appearance and distribute Ipods en masse?

Au Contraire, Wobby - II
Et, I was against the War in Iraq, although I always have supported the troops. One of which was mon frère.

Bring them all home and carpetbomb, Afghanistan. We certaintly don't want to hurt the nice Iraqis nor their Hummers, which are the premier automobiles in the country.

And, Woodrow Wilson is a hero? He "Gitmoed" 150,000 for merely speaking out against his policies. He championed the League of Nations and the Fourteen Points, which were slimmed down and the US failed to join although they give rise to the ineffectual United Nations. And, his participation in the ludicrous Versailles Treaty resulted in war reparations that Germany could never afford, the Weimar Government, and the eventual rise of Adolph Hitler.

BTW..just curious
If we can NOT talk Iran out of Nukes should we just walk away if they will not "talk" it out? How about N.K. having a long range rocket? If we find a city here in the USA blasted by a terrorist one day that came over the border should we leave that border open? (No, I am still upset with Bush and all the other presidents before him for not closing the border). Is it more important to leave that border open and argue about the rights of the illegals than protect ourselves? Someone mentioned Darfur? What should we do about that? What if we can't talk it out with these people over tea and cake and giving them DVD's and Ipod's don't work? What about our own country? Should we let the government decide who lives and dies under universal healthcare? (Ask people from England or Canada how they like universal healthcare. People have died needlessly being denied drugs and/or treatment to save their lives). Should we go socialist and have everybody have exactly the same pay? You guys want to talk so much tell us how to solve all these problems. Tell us what you have in mind as a back-up if YOUR solutions do not work. Tell us how wars are outdated and we should never defend ourselves or help others. Go ahead. It’s your dime.

Riddle Me This, TD2008
What do you get when you combine an African-American, Asian and a 23 yr. old loser, who are all cop killers?

Brother, Can You Spare A Wilson Dime?
While we have had dimes since they were commissioned by the Coinage Act of 1792, production "only" began in 1796. We have had many versions, but it took Woodrow Wilson to change it's the meaning dramatically. Although most commonly known as the Mercury dime, the coin does not depict the Roman messenger god, but, instead was the Roman symbol for fascism (a bundle of sticks, wrapped in rope, with an ax attached) . The obverse figure is a depiction of the mythological goddess Liberty wearing a Phrygian cap, a classic symbol of liberty and freedom, with its wings intended to symbolize freedom of thought. Designed by noted sculptor Adolph A. Weinman, the Winged Liberty Head dime is considered by many to be one of the most beautiful U.S. coin designs ever produced.

Weinman (who had studied under Augustus Saint-Gaudens) won a 1915 competition against two other artists for the design job, and is thought to have modeled his version of Liberty on Elsie Kachel Stevens, wife of noted poet Wallace Stevens.[5] The reverse design, a fasces juxtaposed with an olive branch, was intended to symbolize America's readiness for war, combined with its desire for peace. Although the fasces symbol was later adopted by Benito Mussolini and his National Fascist Party, the symbol has remained quite common in American iconography and has generally avoided any stigma associated with its usage in wartime Italy.

Wilson's Dime was replaced to some degree by the FDR Dime in 1946, as a commemoration of his death. Sadly, most of his ideas didn't "leave" with him.

Denise
You bring up good points. I have an old dime and I saw what you are talking about. Interesting. I'm also curious what would happen if white people were to protest evey time a black man shot a white man?

"Denise, you bring up good points."

Thank you, but the facts speak for themselves.

"I have an old dime and I saw what you are talking about. Interesting."

Make sure that you keep it since it might buy your way out of an indoctrination camp. As for me, I would be allowed to check in, but never leave. This is especially true had I been alive in the Wilsonian Era. Nixon committed crimes, but he had nothing on Wilson. Because of:

1) The Federal Reserve.
2) His support of segregation and eugenics.
3) The committal of suffragettes to mental institutions.
4) The "Wilsonian" Dime.
5) The imprisonment of ~150,000 Americans, who had the audacity to use their 1st Amendment rights to speak out against his "fascist" policies.
6) His suppression of the Antiwar movements.
7) His taking control of private businesses, i.e., the railroads, etc.
8) His Fourteen Points, which led to the League of Nations, that we didn't even join. Of course, it did lead to the disastrous United Nations.
9) His participation in the Treaty of Versailles that imposed impracticable war reparations on Germany, which led to the failure of the Weimar Government and the rise of Adolph Hitler and WWII.
10) His stroke that wasn't fatal.

"I'm also curious what would happen if white people were to protest evey time a black man shot a white man?"

Are you kidding me? There would be riots led by Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, the NAACP, the ACLU, with a prayer by the Reverend Joseph Lowery.

During the past several weeks, Americans have been called 'Un-American' by the Speaker of the House because we're opposed to giving amnesty to 30 million - or so - illegal aliens so that they can take our jobs while demanding government aid for housing, schooling, vehicles, food and the right to march against America.
Americans were called 'Un - American for NOT paying our taxes by the gaffe-ridden Vice-President. Of course, he now realizes that the non-tax payers are within his cabinet.
Americans were shamed by the Secretary of State and by the Homeland 'Insecurity' Secretary, who calaimed that we are to blame for every gun sold to their new best friends in Mexico. Oh gosh, but that's been PROVEN to be a lie. Did you get an apology? Huh.
Then, there's the President of our country, who made disparaging remarks about the 'American People' in every speech he made, in every country he visited. Silly me. For 40 years, I have been volunteering my time and money to virtually every nation on this earth. Proudly, my country has used some of my tax money for foreign aid to most of these countries - including France - and now, I find out that I've simply been 'arrogant'. Regardless of Mr. Obama's Socialist tendancies and his thoughtless spending, I wonder if it occurred to him that demoralizing the American people in front of other nations might pose a bit of a problem for him in the United States. I'm sure other Socialist nations are cheering him on...perhaps he can run for office in one of his favorite countries in 2012. He doesn't 'love' his country, he doesn't stand by the Constitution or the Bill of Rights, and he doesn't want any American to succeed. He made that very clear.

Yea lets blame everybody and everything but Obammy. Could it be that unemployment is getting out of hand? Could it be that maybe some are upset because they see America being re-shaped as a socialist nation? Could it be anger at this administration? I know a few people who voted for Obammy, loved the guy at first but now want to vomit at the site of him. This is from people who have been democrats their entire lives who now say they are ashamed to call themselves democrats! Before I left for Iraq I could sense anger about the war in the air but most small town folks were still under control about it. Before that I remember those who did not like Clinton and the sense of anger in the air but once again things were still under control. Since I came home from Iraq I hear nothing but disgust about Obammy. Even small town folks express outright hate for the man and his administration which I have never seen before. Yes, you can feel the tension in the air. Its so thick you can cut it with a knife!

Germany has contributed "troops" to AF for quite a while now. The trouble is that their government will not allow them to fight unless attacked directly.

Heard a new saying on CSPAN. "NWAF" This is supposedly used by US forces in AF. It means: "Nato Watching Americans Fight."

Not that much "change":
If there was one thing that everybody agreed on during the past electin campaign, it was that Obama represented "change". He himself and his supporters, of course, trumpted this as their great sogan and attraction, of course, with the unspoken assumption that *any* change from Bush and the Republicans had to be a change for the better. Obama's opponents, on the other hand, agreed that he represented "change" but believed that it would be a change for the worse.

As it turns out, Obama didn't bring as much "change" as he promised, or as some of us would have liked. As Barone notes, in foreign policy, his changes are more rhetoric than reality. We're supposedly gettng out of Iraq, but only slowly, and may be there indefinitely with at least a token force. And we're getting deeper into Afghanistan with no prospect of getting out of there, perhaps ever, or at least until we completely collapse militarily and economically. Does what happens in Afghanistan really matter to the United States of America, or does it only matter to Obama who wants to look macho fighting the "good war", even while he slowly withdraws from the "bad war" in Iraq.

And domestically, the "change" has been from big-government conservatism, responding to an economic crisis with bailouts, "stimuluses", and government meddling in the economy, to bigger-government liberalism, with more bailouts, more stimuluses, and more meddling in the economy. Not that much of a change in direction, just moving faster and farther in the same direction. If what Bush was doing didn't work, there's little reason to think that what Obama is doing will work. But either way, it will leave us less free and probably less prosperous.

Thank you for your service and well said in all your posts.
Yes, I believe you are correct, there's a seething undercurrent of anger, that very likely will turn to rage if this unconstitutional rampage continues. And it isn't just towards the Federal government but in states like mine where the doofus Doyle is going to TAX hospital beds and nursing home beds, while stealing over 2 million from the State Veterans Fund. O yeah, you vets will love this, there's a Veterans home here that's been around for a 100 years or more. He's gonna close some of it to save money and is going to tax these elderly, disabled, sick veterans for the use of beds they paid for with blood, sweat and tears. He's a thug like the rest of them.
So Robert MN is a Vietnam Vet..well if so, then he should remember how he and his comrades were spat on by the Jane Fonda/Lurch wannabe's and called 'baby killers' by the maggot infest mob of drugged fried LSD trippers. My husband was
an early vietnam era vet and WE will NEVER forget the treatment they received and so should Robert. And we swore that we'd never let that happen again, we supported the War in Iraq and you are right once you saw the torture and cruelty against those poor people the other stuff didn't matter. There are selfish people who only care about themselves, once our troops are committed they deserve our support..period.

Brave
Wow Bravemonk. Powerful post. While I don't agree with your language at times you do have some valid points. Rage is developing at a record pace across the USA. While the Obambi supporters will claim that any negative comments belong to neo-cons, the rest of the nation knows better. I'm not sure the government is really getting a grip of how dangerous this situation is becoming. Time will tell but I think the anger level is about a 7 on a scale of 1 to 10. Let unemployment reach 15-20% across the nation and I believe the tension scale will top out. You and I know that maybe 1 out of 2500 soldiers support Obambi and the polls proved that last November. Thanks for your service.

REPLY:Tea Party & Pat
Hey Pat. Said hello to your daughter today as she was out planting flowers. Yea, before Robert got so upset with me, I was basically saying the same things you are both saying. Pat, you know what this town is like. Maybe 1400 people of mixed race and background. Most are between 50-80 yrs.old. Politically its democrats 2 to 1 over republicans. Most people here are easy going small town folk but the anger level is beyond anything I have ever seen. Older folks who watch their language are saying nasty things about this administration and a good many of them are democrats. Obammy will say that jobs are going to be available in another year or so but who can wait? Unemployment will only last so long and it’s only a fraction of what some of these people were making on the job. "IF" this trend were to continue through most of the year there will be many more foreclosures and this will be another reason for tempers to flare up. What would happen if maybe 5 million people stopped paying on their mortgage all at once? It could happen and that would be terrible. The financial institutions would go into collapse. Factor in credit card payments and then commercial real estate and you have a perfect storm like we have never seen before. Will this happen? Who knows but the stage is being set and this is a dangerous road this country is on. Trying to label anyone who does not like this administration or Obammy as a neo-con is not going to put any water on the fire. If the government does not turn this situation around quickly I can see where nature will take its course and it will get ugly.

Einstein once said, "The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results."

It is the disadvantaged, who habitually elect for Democrats, yet they remain disadvantaged.

"Poor People have been voting for Democrats for the last 50 years, and they are still poor."

So sayeth Sir Charles Barkley. And, he is right. Of course, he left out #11... New Orleans.

Further, don't confuse "Conservatism" with "Republicanism". And, Fox News will not end the impoverished from voting Democratic, Liberal, Socialist, Fascist, Globalist, Anti-Globalist, Anarchist, or whiner from rioting. It might help in the detox, but the effort is ALL their's, mes amies.

U.S. May Oust CEOs at Banks Needing ‘Exceptional’ Aid

By Jesse Westbrook

April 5 (Bloomberg) -- Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner said he’s prepared to oust the senior management and boards of directors at banks that require “exceptional” assistance from the U.S. government.

“If in the future, banks need exceptional assistance in order to get through this, then we will make sure that assistance comes,” while ensuring taxpayers are protected, Geithner said today in an interview on the CBS “Face the Nation” program. “Where that requires a change in management and the board, then we will do that.”

Geithner noted that American International Group Inc., Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac had their chief executives removed after it became clear the companies couldn’t survive without government rescues. The Treasury is reviewing how much capital the biggest U.S. financial companies need in order to endure a severe economic downturn.

“Where we’ve had to do exceptional things,” the government has replaced management and boards of directors, Geithner said.

The More Progressive Things Change...

Was Woodrow Wilson worse than George W. Bush?

Before considering, know that I am a Constitutionalist Independent, and I would have been placed in one of Wilson's indoctrination camps because I consider his crimes worse than those of Nixon. Why?

a) His creation of the Federal Reserve.

b) His support of segregation and eugenics.

c) His committal of suffragettes to mental institutions.

d) The "Wilsonian" Dime, which incorporated Roman fascist symbols.

e) His imprisonment of ~150,000 Americans, who had the audacity to use their 1st Amendment rights to speak out against his "fascist" policies.

f) His suppression of the Antiwar movements.

g) His taking control of private businesses, i.e., the railroads, etc.

h) His Fourteen Points, which led to the League of Nations, that we didn't even join. Of course, it did lead to the disastrous United Nations.

i) His participation in the Treaty of Versailles that imposed impracticable war reparations on Germany, which led to the failure of the Weimar Government and the rise of Adolph Hitler and WWII.

j) His stroke that wasn't fatal.

Granted I offer only St. Denis' (my birth name) 10 Points, but they were at least Constitutional. Unfortunately, Progressives adore Wilson, whose fascism, as represented in his dime, was only supplanted in 1946 by the FDR dime that celebrated his near totalitarianism. Some things never die! They may fail miserably, but onward and forever...

POTUS 44: "Exceptional"
"I believe in American exceptionalism, just as I suspect that the Brits believe in British exceptionalism and the Greeks believe in Greek exceptionalism. I'm enormously proud of my country and its role and history in the world. If you think about the site of this summit and what it means, I don't think America should be embarrassed to see evidence of the sacrifices of our troops, the enormous amount of resources that were put into Europe postwar, and our leadership in crafting an Alliance that ultimately led to the unification of Europe. We should take great pride in that.

"And if you think of our current situation, the United States remains the largest economy in the world. We have unmatched military capability. And I think that we have a core set of values that are enshrined in our Constitution, in our body of law, in our democratic practices, in our belief in free speech and equality, that, though imperfect, are exceptional.

"Now, the fact that I am very proud of my country and I think that we've got a whole lot to offer the world does not lessen my interest in recognizing the value and wonderful qualities of other countries, or recognizing that we're not always going to be right, or that other people may have good ideas, or that in order for us to work collectively, all parties have to compromise and that includes us.

"And so I see no contradiction between believing that America has a continued extraordinary role in leading the world towards peace and prosperity and recognizing that that leadership is incumbent, depends on, our ability to create partnerships because we create partnerships because we can't solve these problems alone." - Barack Obama on "American Exceptionalism" at NATO Press Conference on 4/4/09.

I share Ur concern relative to NK's ICM Launch last evening..And Ur right as to all the *Hand-Wring* wailing etc, etc. when an identical item (this time with a Plutonium WarHead attached) hits Seattle or Fairbanks..I have had a VERY CLOSE working relationship with Koreans for MANY years and know something of the mindset of GOOD, RATIONAL individuals of which Kim Jong Il is NOT ONE..Kim needs to KNOW that the NEXT Launch WILL be the LAST ONE.. Kill 'em all and let GOD sort out the good ones!!CHEERS

INRE your post" To quote Obraindead. Words, just words.

Chamberlain talked a lot too, GIs died
And tens of thousands of Americans and Europeans died fighting NAZIs in WWII. Obama has offered up Poland...It's a wink and a nod thing. Putin wants to reconstitue the USSR. Obama wants to continue his reparations program without having to meddle in foreign matters. Oh, except for cap and trade and climate change, but only insofar as it creates a global tax. WWIII will have ICBM and cruise missiles flying in the whitehouse front door. Or just one 'terrorist' nuke in space sending the US back to the stone ages. Hope and Change, Change and Hope. Oh he's so cool. Can't give a speech without a teleprompter or boob tube. Or is really a token-prompter?

I disagree. I am increasingly convinced that the only "good reason" for the use of American military force is the protection of the safety and absolutely vital interests of *this* country, the United States of America. If we can free other peoples as a side-benefit along the way of defending ourselves, fine. But we do not have the ability, or the duty, or the Constitutional mandate to roam the world toppling dictators who are nasty to their own people and trying to create democracy at gunpoint. It is time to move back toward the doctrine stated by that notorious left-wing radical, John Quincy Adams: "The U.S. does not go forth into the world searching for monsters to destroy. She is the well-wisher to the freedom and independence of all peoples, but she is the champion only of her own." If we keep on ignoring this counsel, we will exhaust our military and economic resources until we can no longer defend our own freedom and independence.

An Ode To Pensioners Everywhere

I cross ocean,
poor and broke,
Take bus,
see employment folk.

Nice man treat me
good in there,
Say I need to
see welfare.

Welfare say,
'You come no more,
We send cash
right to your door.'

Welfare checks,
they make you wealthy,
Medicaid it keep
you healthy!

By and by,
I get plenty money,
Thanks to you,
American dummy.

Write to friends
in motherland,
Tell them 'come
fast as you can.'

They come in turbans
and Ford trucks,
I buy big house
with welfare bucks

They come here,
we live together,
More welfare checks,
it gets better!

Fourteen families,
they moving in,
But neighbor's patience
wearing thin.

Finally, white guy
moves away,
Now I buy his house,
and then I say,
'Find more aliens
for house to rent.'
And in the yard
I put a tent.

Send for family
they just trash,
But they, too,
draw the welfare cash!

Everything is
very good,
And soon we
own the neighborhood.

We have hobby
it's called breeding,
Welfare pay
for baby feeding.

Kid's need dentist?
Wife's need pills?
We get free!
We got no bills!

American's crazy!
He pay all year,
To keep welfare
running here.

We think America
darn good place!
Too darn good for
the white man race.

If they no like us,
they can scram,
Got lots of room in Pakistan .

It is interesting that the federal government provides a single refugee with a monthly allowance of $1,890.00 and each can also get an additional $580.00 in social assistance for a total of $2,470.00 .

This compares very well to a single pensioner who after contributing to the growth and development of America for 40 to 50 years can only receive a monthly maximum of $1,012.00 in old age pension and Guaranteed Income Supplement.

Maybe our pensioners should apply as refugees!

WRH Bill- I agree with you.

OBAMA/BUSH Foreign Policy Alike
Interesting. But no matter how you asesess Bush's foreign policy...OBAAMA doesn't even come close.

This moron isn't quailified to be POTUS. He's so inept and out of his league. He has NO substance whatsoever and his preening like a peacock just about sums him up.

All the while that nut job in North Korea is launching missle.
And let's not forget the "gifts" presented to the PM of England and the Queen of England. Who is running the Office of Protocol for this moron who is TPOTUS????
He's not qualified to make any decisions for America.
He's already violated the most sacred rule of the land. He swore to uphold and defend the US CONSTITUTION of AMERICA against all enemies foreign and domestic. He and CONGRESS need to be arressted and put on trial for TREASON. Because they are not doing the job they were elcted to do. A long time a go I held
up my hand to do the same.....I did so proudly and willingly.
The idea that this POTUS is selling us out is just the beginning and you thought Bush's policies were bad ..this guy is going to rollover for everyone that wants to do us harm around the world
When will he learn we can't make nice with terrorists, communists and despots around the world. And yes they are TERROISTS ISLAMIC to EXACT...no matter what silly names he wants to call them..talk about carrying "political" correctness to the extreme....
It's only the beginning....

And just how many times am I suppose to gag when I hear or read that something TPOTUS has said.

Embarassed, disgusted and downright sickened, that so many Americans in this country fell hook line and sinker for this liar.

I pray I'll wake up from this nightmare!!!

Sorry for the confusion
Robert posted that I stated in a previous post I was disagreeing with him (about it being good for America to topple evil foreign dictators whether or not our own nation's safety is involved) when I was actually disagreeing with Bravemonk. Sorry for the confusion of who was posting what.

If one were to describe Bush's 8 yrs,
and present it to someone in a coma during that time, they would guess the democratization efforts in Iraq and Afghanistan were the handiwork of a Democratic President. Ditto for Bush's comments on Islam being a great and noble religion.Ditto for the billions of reconstruction and construction dollars spent on Iraq and Afghanistan. Ditto on house-to-house tactics that put our troop in harm's way unnecessarily (how about blow up the neighborhood?!)
