Was the Copenhagen Global Warming Summit Walk-Out a Win for the U.S.?

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- If conventions are supposed to be about message discipline and stagecraft, Republicans have been improv street theater to the Democrats' Broadway.

Every day has brought a brand new buzz -- and that was before the convention got started.

Republicans euphoric about vice presidential pick Sarah Palin hardly got to enjoy a news cycle before Hurricane Gustav stole headlines and resurrected the ghosts of Katrina. Then came the news that Palin's 17-year-old daughter, Bristol, is five months pregnant.

To say that this convention has gotten off to a jaw-dropping start would not be hyperbolic. While Democrats chant, "Yes we can," Republicans have been lip-syncing, "OMG."

There are, of course, other ways to view recent events and Republicans have rallied their best angels. Thus, Gustav wasn't so much an unwelcome interruption as an opportunity to demonstrate priorities: People matter more than agendas.

And so all eyes and resources turned to the Gulf Coast.

Bristol Palin, too, quickly became a humanizing symbol for reckoning and prioritizing. Most Republicans rolled up their sleeves the way families do when trouble comes. Such is life.

To social conservatives within the party, the Palin situation merely underscored the family's commitment to life. Bristol is marrying the father -- and life, indeed, goes on.

From some other quarters, the buzz hasn't been so uplifting. Some bloggers on the left initially suggested that Palin's baby, Trig, was really her grandson. Others have used what should be a private family matter to challenge Palin's preference for abstinence-only sex education.

A notable exception to the ugliness has been Barack Obama, who was both manly and gentlemanly in reiterating his position that candidates' families -- and especially their children -- are off-limits. Bravo. He also reminded Americans that his own mother gave birth to him when she was 18.

Politicizing Bristol Palin's pregnancy, though predictable, is nonetheless repugnant and has often been absurd. It may be darkly ironic that a governor-mother who opposes explicit sex ed has a pregnant daughter, but experienced parents know that what one instructs isn't always practiced by one's little darlings.

We try; we sometimes fail. There are no perfect families and most of us get a turn on the wheel of misfortune.

Were it not for the pain of a teenager who didn't deserve to be exposed and exploited, the left's hypocrisy in questioning Palin's qualifications to be vice president against the backdrop of her family's choices would be delicious. Instead, it leaves a bad taste.

Would anyone ever ask whether a male candidate was qualified for office because his daughter was pregnant?

Some also have questioned whether Palin, whose son Trig has Down syndrome, can be both a mother and a vice president? These questions aren't coming from the right -- so often accused of wanting to keep women barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen -- but from the left.

Did someone switch the Kool-Aid?

Palin is everything liberals have always purported to want for women -- freedom to choose, opportunities for both career and family, a shot at the top ranks of American political life. With five children and an impressive resume, Palin should be Miss July in the go-girl calendar.

There's just one hitch: She doesn't believe in abortion except to save a mother's life. That's hardcore, even for pro-life Republicans, most of whom allow for abortion in cases of rape and incest.

Women who won't budge on abortion have hit fast-forward in their heads and, given McCain's age, consider the risk too great that a President Palin would load the Supreme Court with pro-lifers who would overturn Roe v. Wade. Whether that is a realistic concern is debatable, but what's perfectly clear is that feminism today is not about advancing women, but only a certain kind of woman.

While we're exhausting irony, Palin would have been excoriated as a hypocrite had she or her daughter had abortions. That would have been legitimate and, probably, deal-breaking criticism. By choosing life, the Palins acted in accordance with their public positions and were ridiculed for their honesty.

There may yet be reasons to find Palin an unacceptable vice presidential choice, but making pro-life decisions shouldn't be among them. Her candidacy, meanwhile, has cast a bright light on the limitations of our old ideological templates.

Should Palin and McCain prevail come November, feminism can curtsy and treat herself to a hard-earned vacation. The greatest achievement of feminism won't be that a woman reached the vice presidency, but that a woman no longer needed feminists to get there.

The full background on Trig's birth
Hi Kathleen,

Thank you for your illuminating article! However I noticed that you left out the important fact that the rumors about Trig Palin's birth did not start in the liberal blogs, but in the Alaskan news, months ago! In fact, here is a story from back in March:

http://www.adn.com/politics/story/339576.html

A blog posting from April gives a fuller account:

http://www.bloggernews.net/115275

As the story - from the Palins - goes, Sarah went into labor while out of town giving a speech in Texas. But rather than go straight to the hospital, they proceeded to fly back to Alaska and drive out to a hospital far from Anchorage. Why? As her husband stated, because "you can't have a fish-picker from Texas."

Why the McCain campaign sent out a press release on Monday countering this story with the story that Bristol Palin is pregnant out of wedlock is a mystery.

BAD TASTE?
PQRKER, THE BAD TASTE IS ONLY IN YOUR MIND! YOU ARE SAYING THE MOTHER MUST BEAR THE SHAME OF THE CHILD. NOT SO! MODERN YOUTH ARE NOT ONLY REBELIOUS BUT OVERLY HEAD STRONG AND KNOW IT ALL! BUT THEY REALLY KNOW NOTHING OF LIFE AND WILL BEAR THE SHAME OF THAT IGNORANCE ALL THEIR REMAINING LIFE!
SARAH PALIN IS NOT GUILTY OF HER DAUGHTERS SIN AND IS STILL THE OUTSTANDING PICK TO BE MCCAINS RUNNING MATE!

JULIAN

WHY?
1.)Women should be PROUD that Sarah Palin worked her way through politcial corruption, fought and won aaginst big oil interests and has is now the presumptive V.P. candidate WITHOUT needing the feminist movement to help her get there.

2.) There are very few families that have not had to deal with teenager problems or with an unplanned pregnacy in their family. For you to state that Sarah Palin should now emphasize birth control in her acceptance speech is pure hypocracy. Would you have asked Bill Clinton to give a speech about the benefits of oral sex?

3.) Sarah Palin should win or lose on her abilities to run the United States, and not on her private family matters that have NOTHING to do with the job she will perform as V.P. for our nation.

Why won't people mind
their own business? The fact that this young lady is pregnant IS NONE OF MY BUSINESS! It has no bearing on her Mother's ability to be a VP. If the "sins" of the kids in the immediate (or extended) family of a political hopeful actually reflected poorly on the candidate's ability to perform in the office, one can name plenty of people on both sides of the aisle that would never have been elected. AND if you want to talk about guts, Mr. & Mrs. Palin and their daughter no doubt knew that this would become an "issue" for the press and opposition, and they still stood firm feeling they owed an explanation to no one past the simple fact. Way to go Palin family and John McCain! I pray that the scumbags will leave them alone. And thank you Mr. Obama for refusing to even speak of this as it truly is off limits. I do wish however, that in order to give strength to his protest, he would have made it clear that not only was his Mom only eighteen when she became his Mother (and could have become pregnant at 17) but that she was also unmarried when he was conceived. Again, that is none of my business; however, if he chooses to tell the story he truly ought to tell it all.

Abstinence works
As someone who was a teen in the time before the pill I can say it definately worked. However, we were not drenched in explicit sexuality.

The Idiot named Will!
I guess if we are going there, are you ready to go the distance? Have you not had sex before you 18th birthday? I guess that is hitting below the belt! Looing at it from the point of view you took at first it is fair game! In case you have not seen the papers lately, this is not new to the rest of us. AS A PARENT OF SUCH A TEENAGER, I know that it was a suprise to my wife and I when we found out the we were going to be grandparents, but we moved on and helped her get out of High School with Honors and start college. There is no dout that they( my daughter and son-in-law) are headed for a rough time. But with love and support they will do well! My younger daughters have used this as a learning experience and helping their sister in anyway possible! Son, THINK BEFORE YOU OPEN YOU BIG MOUTH!

After the distractions
The real question concerning Gov. Palin is John McCain's judgement. We really don't know Palin yet, but frankly neither does John McCain. McCain is old enough that his vice president has a higher than average probability of becoming the leader of the free world. I'd say after we are beyond the distractions of hurricanes and pregnancies we need to learn a great deal more about this candidate before any of us can responsibly assess McCain's surprise choice.

Not Reaction MSM Expected From Cons
I heard the news about her daughter yesterday at least 40 different times, and that Obama said families should be off-limits. The MSM thought our reaction to the "bomb shell" news they dropped would be shock and outrage. They expected us to be disappointed by the choice of Palin and possibly not vote in November. Possibly, they wanted a floor fight at the convention. In either case, it back-fired big time. People all across America are disgusted with the 24/7 denigration of the Palin family, and it only reinforced our opinion that the MSM is so desperate to win the election, they'll stoop to all-time lows.

I can't wait to see what the MSM has to say tomorrow night after Palin has given her speech. This election certainly has become sooooooooo much more exciting.

Grape Guy: Tomorrow Will Tell You
Grape Guy: Make sure you watch tomorrow's RNC convention. Governor Palin will totally Wow you with her directness and her ideas. She's a scrapper, for sure. She's the perfect choice because she has the right personality and character to clean up in Washington, D.C.

The shredding machines in Congress have probably been working round-the-clock since Friday. Palin is exactly the person to give America the change it truly needs.

Agreed!
I do not agree with Sarah Palin on basically any issue, but the more I know about her, the more I admire her. Don't be fooled into believing that the DNC and Obama are not behind all the rumors flying about the Palins. I have been a Democrat my whole life, but this year I am in the middle. I honestly used to believe I was on the "good guy's side", but now I realize that both sides the same. It's all about power and position, not people or country. I think that IF the Democrats truly believed that McCain made a bad choice in picking Gov. Palin, they would just be happy and feel secure in winning. That doesn't appear to be the case. They are pulling every rabbit out of their hats trying to make something stick...it's not working and they are worried. I am a Hillary supporter and have watched closely what they pulled on her, while at the same time saying "we would never play dirty...we are above the fray"...bs. They probably peed in their pants when McCain surprised everyone with Palin. I am loving it and Republicans should feel good, because all the dirty tactics are not going to work. I think she is a great choice and everyone has skeletons in their closet....who cares anymore. Everything that has been brought up only proves that they are a very real, normal family and she is a very strong, smart woman. I would never vote for her based on her stance on the issues, but rest assured, I will not be voting Democratic for the first time in 32 years. This has proved to be the most interesting election ever...good luck. McCain truly is an American hero.

Brickhouse
I can not agree more!

Trig's birth...
Hey... I guess some guys out there don't understand a woman "going into labor". The governor was not in labor, but her water had started to leak. In other words - the fluid around the baby. This is a woman who had four other children to that point and knew what labor was. She opted to go home, and have her baby in a hospital and with a physician she was comfortable with. The physician told her that was fine. I have flown on AK Airlines at 36 weeks (8 months for those of you who don't know what that is) and they smiled and welcomed me aboard. No questions.

I live in Alaska and would choose to have my baby here any day. The governor did not put her baby at risk or cause Trig's condition. She had her physician's okay. Once she arrive in Alaska - she was taken to the hospital and labor was induced (meaning started) so that she could have her baby.

Get real! Our governor is fantastic. She's taken on corruption (in a corruption filled state) and won. She is a fighter who has helped her state and made certain that Alaskans (not big business or corrupt politicians) prosper. What's the problem for you? That she is a capable, smart, able woman? That she has done all of this without an Ivy league education or powerful, corrupt, terrorist friends? Come on. Take the blinders off. Sarah Palin is the real deal. She doesn't have a perfect family - but they've made it on their own. No nannies or cooks. In tough jobs (commercial fishing, oil worker) that most people down south have no clue how physically difficult. They're not perfect, didn't claim to be but represent the best in America. Learn about Governor Palin, not the MSM stuff. Really research. Go McCain / Palin!

..."feminism today is not about advancing women, but only a certain kind of woman."
Well, the Nazis were looking for a certain kind of race too. The thing they both have in common is their willingness to sacrifice innocent people to pursue the cause.

Those
werer the days Claire, we didn't have the pressure surrounding us 24/7 and were free to be kids. I wouldn't want to be the age of my grandkids on a bet..these kids can't escape from the barrage sex every day, all day from every venue. And I resent what the perverted left have done to our culture in their sex obessed determination to undermine our families, because MY grandkids are affected.

Gino..these left/marxists and driveby fellow travelers are so removed from reality and the
average AMERICAN family they haven't a clue
as to the hornets nest theyv'e stirred up.
Their elitist contempt for the people that make this country work will come back to bite them.
There are a lot of families who have gone through this, my husband and I are among them.
I don't know about you, but watching the character assassination of Sarah Palin and her
daughter has made me seeth with rage. When they attack this family, this mother, this daughter, this Downs baby, they have attacked us.

Obama the Noble Man?
"A notable exception to the ugliness has been Barack Obama, who was both manly and gentlemanly in reiterating his position that candidates' families -- and especially their children -- are off-limits"

I respectfully disagree with this assessment. Obama the gentleman soars above the fray again...knowing good and well the attack machine will not stop the presses.

Bad Old Days
Matte, you need to quit living in the past. Is there a secret rule that only women are designated to take care of the kids? If nothing else changes in the minds of people, I certainly hope that "old" way of thinking is a dead issue. It takes two to tango and the least the guy can do is take part in raising the kids. If she is capable in helping run the country, I think Todd can manage to take care of the kids.

Obama's Convention gets High Marks from
Saul Alinsky's son. "The son of Communist Organizer Saul Alinsky has written a letter to the Boston Globe praising the recent Democratic National Convention as a perfect example of putting into action the Communist methods taught by his late father. The letter from David Alinsky highlights the fact that Barack Obama learned the methods of Saul Alinsky in Chicago and put them into practice as a "Community Organizer," which effectively could be called a professional "Rabble-Rouser."

Well done, good and faithful Comrade!

Think!
Some of you are implying that Bristol didn't go through sex ed at school.

You don't know that.

Think! Sometimes it sounds like the left has banned logic.

This Race Is shaping Up now
Although O’Bama’s comments were correct that these arguments about Palin’s daughter have nothing to do with the campaign and should stop I find them somewhat disingenuous. First off, he virtually has to say they are not germane and that children should be off-limits. Second, the people who are making all these comments are the same people that initiated his run for office to begin with. That is the average Kossite Soros troll.

We have seen a massive influx since last Friday of new trolls posting largely illiterate garbage. This has all the earmarks of a boiler room operation of the kind that in days past mailed out libelous letters with insane accusations.

One thing that the Vomit should remember about his insane supporters at the Kos and DU. They were able to influence in the primaries in CT top the point that a new Kossite defeated Lieberman in the run for the Senate. Lieberman went on to smash that Kossite in the general election by a wide margin.

Nice
Usual stuff. It was predicted by William Kristol
and many others, but none of this stuff will have much shelf life though.

http://blog.topicaltopics.net/2008/08/liberal-attack-dogs-s how-true-colors/

Touchy Touchy Touchy
First, let us get one thing straight. Town Hallers have no right to criticize ANYONE for
vile utterances. You all know what I am talking
about.

Second, the vast majority of people both right
and left agree that the daughter is not the
problem. Yes, she did what she should not have. But we all have someone in similar situations in our own family or extended family.

Third. The problem is the cover up - literally. Did anyone besides myself see the
daughter holding the baby in front of her
belly during the photo op. That was not
co-incidence. The question is simply - was
she so driven to be on that ticket that she
lied or omitted important information to get
the nomination. Or was the McCain camp so
driven to get that speech on the day after
Obama's fabulous speech that they failed to
find out everything they needed to know.
Yes, she is a woman and might attract Hillary
voters. Yes, she is a great speaker and
could perhaps upstage Obama in an area where
McCain didn't have a prayer.

But look at the polls as of the 2nd. On the
29th the two were neck and neck. On the 2nd
Obama is ahead by 6 to 12 points in every poll.
That isn't just coming from the lefties, my
fellow Americans.

California, land of the perverted, home of the depraved...Will, you really fit in over there.
California, bankrupt financially, economically, morally and spiritually...with a credit rating on a par with Bolivia. Elect more Stalinists and perhaps you will reshape it into a Venezuela-Like "paradise"...

This tactic will backfire
Give the public credit for recognizing the underlying truth. This "scandal" is being manufactured in an attempt to diminish the WOW factor achieved by McCain's choice of a running mate.

As much as they try to deny it - even to themselves - the Palin Factor scares the Obamites. If it didn't worry them, they wouldn't be trying so hard to discredit her. They would just snicker behind their hands and be thrilled McCain had made such a blunder.

By indulging in such patently tabloid-like behavior, the MSM is actually hurting the cause they've seemed so determined to help.

Feminist Harpies deeply resent the fact that the woman on the ticket is a Republican who doesn't toe the line. Their blatant hypocrisy is in full view on this one and their agenda is transparent to anyone with a brain.

So rave on with your trash talk, Will and Edward, keep spinning Grape Guy. People like you help to make our case.

If Obama were a man
Instead of a "little black man-child messiah" in way over his head he'd have take a HARD line against the bloggers. The "messiah" gave tepid attention to the issue. A MAN would tell the bloggers, pundits and comedians "In the name of common decency stop this calumny in my name! I disavow you all and everything you've said about Miss Palin."

IF he were a man that is.

Obama, the "community organizer"
I graduated (quite some time ago) from the "people's republic of Berzerkley", where "community organizer" was just a polite name for plitical activist. These were the people who organized Berkely High school students, and those on campus at the university, who had the time, for the anti-war protests of the early seventies. They were the "professional students" who were paid by the Berkeley chapter of the Communist party, USA. Could Obama (with his marxist views)be of the same ilk?

Vic
The left is going nuts about Palin. I am in favor of anything that puts their shorts in a wad and Sarah obviously does. The reaction of the leftist trolls is irrelevant. The news is the reaction of the female voters that often vote Dem but are shaky on Obama. Palin may snare them. Women dislike personal attacks on other women from men. Palin may well get significant female solidarity votes. And obviously, she has energized many apathetic conservatives. Good for her.

Pistol
I can understand the left, butr people like Wendy shouyldn't have a problem. All of the "newbies who maintain that they are Republicans and conservative who oppose her I figure for posers and trolls.

Prayers for Sarah and Family
The only true defence against such filth as the trolls are spewing is prayer. I am cranking up my Rosary and if you are Catholic I suggest you do the sam.

How is it that the people who have been shrieking MAKE LOVE NOT WAR and IF IT FEELS GOOD DO IT for the past 45 years are now horrified when they find out that somebody was listening?

This is exactly the same shock and horror these same people evidenced when Mark Foley was propositioning their sons. If you demand that everyone have sex every day with everybody, continually for 45 years, why should you be surprised when somebody hears you?

Pray that the Palin family will have the strength to carry their cross imposed by the people who thought we knew they did not really mean a single word they said. They need the power of St. Michael and All Angels to counter the hippies whose words came back to slap them in the face.

I Still Don't Get It...
Why is Sarah Palin qualified to be the VP of the United States? Her "pro-life" family values don't do much on the international stage to advance the welfare of the country. Where's the beef?

Come on People!!
Mrs. Palin is definitely a breath of fresh air to this ticket. I am a democrat and usually vote as such, no matter what. I was caught in between Obama and McCain. Then Obama picked Liden which was not a good choice for me. I waited and then out of the blue McCain picked Mrs. Palin. I am still unsure about McCain, but with Sarah, I am eager to hear more about the "team". She is a symbol of what a lot of Americans today are... a mother trying to make a difference. She can not be with her children 24 hours a day, and can not be held responsible when her 17-year old makes choices that alter herown life. Now if abortion was a choice that mom wanted Bristol to take, then okay we have a major issue. The mere fact that the girl is 5 months pregnant shows great fortitude for the whole Palin family. They do not care what others think and are doing what we all need to do...TAKE RESPONSIBILITY... for our own actions!!! I salute Bristol and the whole Palin family for standing up for family values, in the wake of such circumstances!

Andrew asks:
"Why is Sarah Palin qualified to be the VP of the United States?"

Are you serious? She beats Obama in qualification to be PRESIDENT!!!!

S
"She can not be with her children 24 hours a day, and can not be held responsible when her 17-year old makes choices that alter herown life. "

True enough, but is it time to spend more time with her children, maybe start keeping a bit more of an eye on them, or to go running off to Washington?

let's say for the sake of argument....
that every single thing we're reading is true. That Trig is Bristol's son. No wait, he's the son of an incestous relationship betweein Palin and her son (yes, i have read this in chat room.) Let's say that she went up in a plane while Trig's head was popping out.

The people of Alaska love her, and give her at least 80% approval. If she's good enough for Alaskans, she'd good enough for me. And I KNOW she's a threat to liberals, given how hard they are trying to destroy her.

Pay attention, America. The people who are trying to destroy Sarah Palin may end up in the White House. It may only be a matter of time before YOU are in their gunsights.

PT
Wouldn't it be prudent, to take our time and decide with care. The people of Alaska do love her I'm sure, but the 80% is old news, since trooper-gate it's down to 67%. That better than for Bush by a long shot.

All this talk about ones family
This is not an issue, its real life. It happens everyday. How many famous people have lost children to drug overdoses, drunk driving and other offences.
This is the way of the Country. Permissiveness and me first mentality is the way of the land.
There is only one Political group that wants to keep the family as an institution, with moral clarity, and cautious optimism.
That group is of course the Conservatives.
There is no other, we must endure or be smothered in a new Dark Age of filth and depravity.
We must win this election, and Sarah Palin and people like her are our future. Make no mistake about that.

Will,
Don't get your adult diaper in a wad.

Iowa PatN
Yawohl, Herr Pat. Handcuff Sarah and everybody else in Wasilla and march them in to the doctor who risked his career and freedom by falsifying Trig's birth certificate. He can be trusted to give you the answer you desire. BTW, have you had yourself tested, or for all these years have you believed your bc is valid? There is apparently a lot of bc forging going on. A case from Honolulu is currently under investigation in a PA federal court.

Thanks!!!!

Thanks for proving Parker's points in spades!

There are those who will believe every anti-Palin post no matter what.

I note they raise Cain about Mr. Palin's DUI but willingly gloss over Obama's self-admitted drug use at the same time. Let those without sin cast stones (to paraphrase).

Tired of all the liberal cr@p?
Stop by my blog and read "The Audacity of Victory."

Forget the libs and their cr@p.

They can scream all they want, but when the smoke clears, we'll be the audacious victors.

Let's have a loud HOORAH!

NOT FAIR:
Sarah Palin family is just about average. IT'S THE DAMN REPORTERS THAT TRYING TO MAKE IT UNREAL.A 17 year old girl has nothing to do with Sarah running for vice president. It's the a** holes that are trying to dig up all the sh** that they possible can make up, what they can't find they are not beyond with lying to make a story.

I worry about the future
I was shouting for joy when I first heard Sarah Palin speak. I knew she was a home run. But I fear that the press has the ability to make good people look evil and bad people look good. Its starting already, how far will the left go to besmirch a successful conservative mother? - Whatever it takes. I worry that her future son in law is such a twit, I worry that there may be complex issues that we dont see now, but that could come back to bite us later. Most importantly, I worry about a family that is being systematically attacked by people with unlimited resources, and willing, indecent animals like the goober who started this thread (Will") who will stop at nothing to win. They are insane, unsrupulous, and hold their opponents to impossible standards for any human being. Not only must Sarah be perfect, but her husband and 5 children must be as well. It reminds me very much of the early Christians when they were being fed to lions, why? Well, they practiced incest! They called each other "brother and sister", and then married. That idiotic rhetoric was fair game 2000 years ago. Some things never change, I guess. I just hope her family is not destroyed in this process. Goodness knows, mine wouldnt. ost of us wouldnt deal with this garbage. Then the critics tell her to quit if she cant take the heat. These are Children for crying out loud!!!! Leave them alone! There is something sinister in these sickos who are in effect saying: "We've come fer yer daughter!..."

Obama a gentleman?
Obama was not acting as a gentleman when he insisted that family should be off-limits. He acted as the self-serving scumbag that he is! It's one thing to take criticism for your 17-year old daugther's pregnancy from the left, and quite another to deal with your wife running around saying she hates her country! The latter is a consequence of association by choice and should NOT be off limits - family or not.

impeachbush
You need to catch up with the times, dweeb. The DailyKook has already admitted that there was no basis to that rumor, which they themselves started. It was just one more attempt by the kook left to destroy someone who presents a threat to them. If she is such a bad pick why isn't the left just sitting back and letting the campaign play itself out? Because they KNOW she is a great pick and is more qualified than Hussein ever dreamed of being. I fully support McCain and Palin and am more than ready to watch her eat Biden's lunch at their debate. Go back to sleep and let the adults talk.

vic
When did Obama's wife say she "hated" our country?

impeachbush
Excellent point Publius4254

Obama's remarks
Yes, Obama should say family is off limits. His mother was 3 months pregnant when his father married her while yet married to his Kenyan wife with 2 children! There are a host of reasons why Obama made his comment! Just check into his Indonesian stepfather who sent him to the state run Islam teaching school until he was 10. There's more to his family than he wants Americans to know!
Most young women who come from abstinence teaching might make one mistake but birth controlled teachings make it almost impossible for teens to keep from making millions of mistakes before their married! Therefore taking a multitude of partners and diseases to the altar. There are no birth control methods, especially condoms, that protect from STD's. I am speaking as a nurse not a member of the feminist group that always hides this ugly facts!

The Palin "trouble"
I think everyone of us can relate to their problems in our own families. We all have screwed up families because we're all sinners. The question is - how do those who want to lead deal with the decisions adversity brings?

How ironic that it would have been so "easy" to take the liberal way out and have Bristol abort the baby. No muss, no fuss for daughter, mom and family. Was havein sex before marriage commendable and right,? No. But in owning up, living by the right convictions and taking the hard road brought retribution from the compassionate left.

And I particularly love the left's condemnation of the Palins having Trig. I wonder how he feels about that? Too bad we can't fast forward about 20 years and ask him.

This brings up another point that needs to be made. It seems to me our society has determined the value of a human being in a godless, darwinian way. I for one get caught up in that thinking - that physical "perfection" defines the person and their value. But just look at kids like Trig, and most of us know specific people like him. God has given every one I have met the capacity to love and trust in a way most of us have gotten hardened to over the years, to our own shame.

And yet, these EXAMPLES to us of what we should be toward our Father in heaven, are the very ones that the left not only want to prevent, but destroy before they ever see the light of day.

So much for liberal compassion.

Get off the Palin Family
Talk about the Obama LAW SUIT awhile of course the DNC can take care of the judges and nothing will come of it.

Teen pregnancy happens but at least they didn't choose to kill the baby. The ones spewing the trash should look in their own families and shut up.

How did we get two
Vic's on here?

CNN & Old USSR
I remember when the old USSR media only reported what the Socialist Party told them to.
They went as far as lied about the US and other free nations to protect the Socialist movement.
Obviously there is nothing Obama & the Democrats can do that will allow the Liberal media to even report their failings.
Brainwashing is dangerous in a free society.
If all you hear is the perceived evil of the opposing party by the Liberal news media, we no longer have a free press. They have sold out their own freedom for a political movement.

Hey Grape Guy
You don't know what John McCain knows or does no know.

I would wager that he knows that she is more qualified to be POTUS than that POS Obama, though.

Scum Absolute Scum

For all of us who remember the shrieking hissy fits of the left and their media lap dogs when jokes were made about Chelsea Clinton’s haircut, this attack on Sarah Palin’s daughter establishes a hypocritical new low. The hardcore leftists who’s every political judgment seems to be based on sexual behavior, who demand that every perverted act be accepted, are showing themselves as the societal bottom feeders they are.

Hey Edwards!
I followed both links you posted and guess what? NEITHER ONE EVER HINTED THAT BRISTOL IS THE MOTHER OF TRIG! I think Linda Blair must have been talking about your mother in the Exorcist.

Q
Who, besides a few meaningless bloggers at Kos, are attacking Palin's daughter?

Not since Clarence Thomas
has the MSM been this afraid of a nominee. Justice Thomas couldn't possibly be right for the SC because he was a black man who'd done it all without a. action and was conservative - a huge threat to the left. Sen. Obama can't say anything good about his elevation to the SC even now. The manner in which the media are trashing Gov Palin and Sen McCain for his choice is very telling. They cannot stomach a conservative woman. Can't you just see Dan Rather looking for forged documents to claim as bona fide? Delicious.

Palin still solid
Is any Republican or firm McCain supporter upset by ANY of these niggling issues the media is bringing up about Palin? Lets see:

-pregnant daughter.
-court case about fired cop.
-she was for the bridge at one point, but then changed her mind.
-uhh...I guess that's all!

I couldn't care less about any of those things. And I don't think Reps are rattled about them either. IMO it's the media in hysterics because most of them are in the tank for Obama and the Palin pick scares the hell out of them.

Obama's father
Just for fun, some reputable geneologist should check Obama's lineage through his Kenyan father.
That lineage should be published. We are all developed by more than life's experiences and associations. We are, partially, a product of our forefathers.

Here's what we conservatives do...
We keep talking about the left's smears of Sara Palin, keep rehashing them, talk about them some more... and then sulk when we lose in November.

Or, we could also GO ON THE ATTACK OVER OBAMA, his emptiness, his seamy associates, and his pathologies.

Excellent choice.
Palin is an excellent choice.
She thoroughly understands conservativism and its foundation, knows why it is better than socialism, believes in it and will not be pushed around.
She is honest and sticks to her principles.
I would put her in the category of "she whom must be obeyed".
Will she support McCain when he gets sketchy with his maveric ideas?
NOT!
Tough lady excellent choice.
I like McCain alot better, now!

Taft, you are a braindead twit!
You keep posting that screed about Chelsea being Janet Reno's daughter and attributing to McCain as if you do it long enough it will become true. Your other posts here leave people feeling nothing but pity for you. The problem is that your too ignorant to grasp just how uninformed and and unintelligent you are.

Typical of folks on your side of the aisle. One just needs to look at the "protest" comparison between the two conventions. Conservatives have lives to live and weren't bothered by the little frat party you kids had in Denver. But in the Twin Cities, things are quite a bit different. You and your kind disgust the rest of us.

2 Vics

Well Vics, there are actually 3, ha ha. May name is Vic, just not my handle.

About Palin, I only wish the ticket was the other way around.

Anything that gets the left's panties in a wad is good to me, and good for America!

Women and black conservatives are like salt on a slug to the neocomms.

Broadway is Way over played.............
I prefer Off Broadway stage myself, and Improv is spontanious.
Sarah Palin is by far the best choice for this election. It brings the Republican Party back to its Roots, hard working American Families with problems we address and not bury in the Sociality Column under the rug.
Her Daughters Pregnancy is a true example of less teaching 'sex is okay, you'll like it', to wait till you are a person able to handle the challenge.

Taft
Nice try, but we both know you're BSing. Kos and the nutroots dig up filth, spread it, and attack the Palins... and then you, the MSM (and sadly, conservatives who should know better) discuss it, debate it, talk about it... until it becomes the critical mass of conversation, and the association is made in the public mind of "Palin = filth."
Meanwhile, YOUR candidate may not even be a US citizen, and has enough childhood abandonment issues and identity quirks to make Nixon seem level headed.

Left Follows Its High Priests
CNN and the rest of the alphabet networks of the drive-by, dominant media culture can not resist attacking Sarah Palin and her children, whether she personifies the strong woman feminazis usually hold up as a shining example.

Why? Why do the 'opinion leaders' who 'just want to make a difference' in the 'news' media attack Palin like sharks on steroids?

Because they are high priests of the new, Christianity-replacing religion of Humanism (http://www.jcn.com/manifestos.html).

It is not enough to report on Palin's credentials and accomplishments. What is more important to the media is to lead its followers - and sway the unwary news consumer - into chanting all the Humanist 'Choice, diveristy, world community and multiculturalism mantras.'

Palin stands to harm their faith-based, Humanist/Socialist agenda.

She must be attacked, even though she is the ideal strong woman liberals love to chatter about.

In the end, their Humanist faith trumps their politically correct babbling about 'I am woman, hear me roar.'

They are high priests....hear them shriek, whipping their Humanist-indoctrinated true-believers into a frenzy.

Backfire
I already had and have an unflattering view of many on the radical left, including the so-called Mainstream (not really mainstream)Media, but this attack on Bristol and Sarah shows just low low they will go.
It has backfired with me, but, of course, I was already "backfired" about the vitriol coming from the hard left. Perhaps it will backfire with a lot of other people.

Tonight's speech
Give 'em hell, Sarah!

FROG
I'm open to honest debate on any subject. McCain did make that joke and Rush made this one.

"On his TV show, early in the Clinton administration, Limbaugh put up a picture of Socks, the White House cat, and asked, 'Did you know there's a White House dog?' Then he put up a picture of Chelsea Clinton, who was 13 years old at the time and as far as I know had never done any harm to anyone.

When viewers objected, he claimed, in typical Limbaugh fashion, that the gag was an accident and that without his permission some technician had put up the picture of Chelsea -- which I found as disgusting as his original attempt at humor."

Shakespearean Theater
The irony of a Rethuglican woman candidate (who recently chastised Hillary for "whining about the primaries") raising charges of sexism, is so delicious!

Revenge is for the gods.

Obama Tsunami in November!

Insanity

I heard Juan Wiliams say Sarah should have been up front about her daughters pregnancy.
Say what ? So she should have introduced herself and added oh by the way I have a 17 year old unmarried pregnant daughter. Do you libs have a clue how ridiculously insane you have become ?
You remind me of my drunkin father. My sister got pregnant at a very young age. After my father beating her and trying to induce a miscarriage. Didn't work. He took her to school. He made her stand up in front of her class and apologize for being pregnant.
Is this what you libs want ? Do you not realize how insane you have become by attacking this family.
I will keep my faith in the American people. This will not stand.

aloanstar: Could not have said it better
aloanstar: I could not agree with you more! If Palin is such a "loser" ticket choice why the fuss? All of a sudden the radicals on both sides are besides themselves. I am a social conservative and expected the below the belt gutter attacks from the left, however, on the right fringe there are those who think that women still belong in the bedroom and kitchen except when they can bring in a paycheck. So, there is sexism and bias on both sides except the attacks from the left go so far that it is beyond comprehension. It only serves to galvanize the women (and hopefully men) in the middle to stop the insanity by what we do (VOTE) and not only what we say. Being a mother and grandmother I have no doubt that Sarah Palin is ready to lead. Women make complex, multiple, and critical decisions every day. Go Sarah!! Many men spend their lives positioning themselves for power, women get the jobs done.

RW
I agree entirely that our job is not to defend our candidate but rather to attack their 100 day wonder.

But ye of little faith.

The leftists are about to experience another George McGovern moment. They know it and are dirtying in their trousers.

Taft
Let’s not play little word games. If you’re partisan bigotry is so extreme it prevents you from viewing the incessant berating of Sarah Palin’s judgment and mothering ability by media rodents like Katie Couric as humiliating and damaging to the child, I feel very sorry for you.

the reason...
that abstinance only education is not working is because the Liberal Media and Television have been promoting casual sex. There is no public outrage when a teen comes up pregnant, so why should teens care about any stigma they may have to face from family? They then get to distance themselves from their family and wollow in self pity that their family is against them for no reason. Well the reasons are clear enough when you see it.
Liberals have been trying to take our children from us one discipline at a time. Making sex ok to do any time and any place without consequences social or otherwise is only a symptom of the larger concern.
And yes. We are drenched in explicit sexuality.
Everything we see is draped in taboo sex, and since sex is no longer taboo, they are making it more explicit.
I dare you.
Find any advertisment that does not have sexual suggestiveness in it, let alone blatant sexuality.

In one word or less, no
With regard to Sarah’s ability to handle both the vice-presidency and the job of raising young Trig, Parker asks: “Did someone switch the Kool-Aid? “

No, Kat. Leftists have always demanded absolute fealty to a rigid orthodoxy. Only on the right do you find the people who acknowledge and accept the genuine accomplishments of those who don’t subscribe to some arbitrary “formula” for success.

That is why Gov. Palin is right at home with conservatism. Can you imagine her at some whine (spelling intentional) and cheese party with a bunch of women from the northeastern, and I use this term loosely, intelligentsia?

Q
No games. Just tell me whose being so bad is all. What did Kouic say?

And another thing
If you need proof that even the greatest of political figures can experience disappointment with their efforts to raise their own children right, I have three words for you: Ron Reagan, Jr.

Bristol Palin’s predicament doesn’t seem so bad by comparison.

Saltydog
LOL, good name.

I was wondering how the other Vic spoofed TH allowing him to get the Vic handle as well.

spending quality time with family
You know people...
Mommies can't live thier lives with their heads shoved Puppet like up thier childrens behinds. There comes a time in the lives of your children that you have to let them make thier stupid mistakes and when they do, they have to be made to face the consequences.
The Palin's made it perfectly clear that they expect Bristol and Levi to be parents to the child, and be responsible. Getting Married is one step in the right direction. It's responsible and may actually be the fire that tempers them into worthwhile adults.
I know that my words are not going to magically make Liberals pull thier collective heads out of their collective sphinkters and stop being hypocritical, but it's always worth a try because there will always be someone in the middle, undecided, who will read the comments and say to themselves... "You know... She has a point... and not the one on top of her head."

IowaPatN
"We still need a factual resolution of the Trig's parents issue. There should be DNA testing. How about it Straight Talkers?"

Are you insane?

You know what? I don't believe your kids are really your kids. I think you covered for your unmarried sister's cousin's aunt's uncle's daughter and just said they were your kids. So let's see a DNA test of YOUR kids. Huh? How about it? Moron.

Whose child do you believe Trig to be? Does the fact that Trig is 4 months old, and Bristol is 5 months pregnant mean nothing to you? Go back to school.

ridiculous!

ABSTINENCE
Abstinence STOPS abortion and STD permanently, 100% guaranteed! Prophylactics and other forms of contraception MAY prevent abortions and STD, but not every time. RE: The "Morning After Pill".

More than likely it was alcohol that weakened their flesh so Bristol and Levi succumbed to the mystery of sex that produced a baby. Levi and Bristol love each other and are engaged to be married. They plan to have and keep their baby.

Palin is not ready to lead
Not only does she only have 2 years experience in the Senate but has only had a staff of 50 people as mayor over a town of 10,000. And on top of that she has a four month old retarted baby. Do you really think that as a MOTHER she is really ready to lead a country when she has been given charge over a special needs child? COME ON!

McCain only took on Palin to steel the womens vote and not because he cared for Palin's family nor this country. Country first? I don't believe it. Because if it WAS country first (and not McCain) he would have picked a person who was 100% ready to lead and would be good for this country.

I'm a conservative republican who because of all this is turning Independent, and I am most likely going to vote Obama.

Andrew: Try to keep up buddy...
"Why is Sarah Palin qualified to be the VP of the United States? Her "pro-life" family values don't do much on the international stage to advance the welfare of the country. Where's the beef?"

First of all, there is so much more to Sarah Palin than her pro-life stance. She's also pro-2nd amendment, pro-family (not the same as pro-life), pro-working mom, pro-military, pro-reform, pro-taxbreaks, and she's just a pro. I can see, based on what I know about her, that she's not a perfect person. Wow! For some reason that doesn't surprise me. Oh, I know what the reason is... None of us is perfect. But when someone like me compares someone like her to someone like Obama, with or without Biden, I see a DIFFERENCE that is attractive and heartening. I see a real person doing real things with their very real convictions, which they are wide open about, not trying to hide them behind vacuous meanderings such as "That's above my pay grade." I'll bet Sarah Palin would've answered that question, with an actual answer, I mean.

Aimee
You are 100% wrong in your attribution. Only one factor is responsible for "promoting casual sex." That factor is the free market. Sex sells. Period.

Taft et al
Comment please on the Presidential candidate Barack Obama and his 'carefully chosen' mentors and friends - I have NO questions about the Obama children - children are NOT relevant according to Obama.

There is an old Spanish saying.
“Tell me who you walk with, and I will tell you WHO YOU ARE!”

"I chose my friends carefully. The more politically active black students. The foreign students. The Chicanos. The Marxist professors and structural feminists and punk-rock performance poets." - Barack Obama (Dreams of My Father)

Obama the 'Chosen One' chose these friends:

Marxist Professors
Structural Feminists (anti capitalists)
Activist Black Students
Mentor Wright - Black separatist and Mentor.
James Cone - Black Separatist and racist.
Saul Alinsky - Communist 'Community Organizer'.
William Ayers - Radical anarchist.
Fr.Pfleger - Radical religionist and race baiter.
Louis Farrakhan - Radical Islamist and racist.
Tony Rezco - Convicted felon and thief.
Frank Marshall - Communist and Obama Mentor.
Many other 'Radical Leftists'.

All American voter should look at some of the chosen associates in the life of a man who is a contender for the position of President of the United States and Commander in Chief of its Armed Forces

Rebecca, "conservative Republican"
Ha ha ha ha ha!!!!

Rebecca, you're cracking me up. You should go on the road. You're hilarious.

YOU are a conservative Republican. I suppose I could say something like "I guess that means something different in California." I know that it doesn't, though, as there are many Republicans, still, in California who actually are conservative. No matter what, as a conservative, I couldn't vote for Obama. It really didn't matter who McCain picked. I have lobbied his campaign directly to pick a conservative running mate. I don't know if my message got through, but somebody's did, and McCain picked a CONSERVATIVE REPUBLICAN woman, which you, Rebecca, claim to be. And this somehow is a problem for you? So you hang a left and decide you're an "independent" who's probably going to vote for Obama? Really? Wow.

Ridiculous!

Democrats say Governor Palin bad choice
Democrats are saying Palin doesn't even have experience as a 'Community Organizer' like Marxist Obama did, she wasn't even taught by Communist Saul Alinski.

Democrats are saying Palin may have executive experience but Obama has a speech.

Democrats are saying Palin probably have a 'typical white' grandmother.

Democrats are saying Palin never left her babies to die in a 'Dirty Linen' closet like Obama has fought so hard for - how can she understand the 'Obama Hope'?

Democrats are saying Palin was never 'Mentored' by 'God Damn America' black racist Jeremiah Wright - how can she understand the plight of the ordinary black American?

Democrats are saying Palin is a Capitalist and was never trained by Marxists like Obama - how can she bring the 'Obama Change' to America?

Democrats are saying Palin never voted present 129 times - how can she bring the political experience Obama has to the White House?

Democrats are saying Palin doesn't understand the 'Bitter Clingers' like Obama - the typical whites who cling to 'God and Guns'.

Democrats are saying Palin doesn't even have 'Cult Followers like Obama, who believe Obama is the messiah and will heal the world.

Democrats are saying Palin has a husband who has always been proud of America, how can she understand those like Michelle Obama who was never proud of America.

Democrats are saying Palin thinks babies are wonderful how could she understand the 'Baby Mistakes' Obama talks about.

Democrats are saying Palin has worked at real jobs, how could she understand the plight of Obama who has never had a 'real job'.

Democrats are saying Palin might bring real values to America not the phony ones they believe in - Democrats are afraid!

RG
Friends do say something about a guy. Can you tell me why these are Obama best friends? or are they rather far fetched acquaintances or people he's never met? You have the last say and maybe we should leave this topic to the right thread.

Re: The Left!!
Here is a LADY that can run a state and do it right and run a household and do this right and the left is having the dry heaves!!! They are scared to death and will stoop at nothing short of assination to bring this LADY down!! This country has got a problem and the people of this country should rise up and tell the left what I say all the time, "IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT HERE-LEAVE!!!"

Pro-Life Feminists

My wife of 42 years and my two successful daughters are all Pro-Life Feminists like Sarah Palin.

I have always hired employees who were the most qualified and more importantly, 'More Likely To Perform their Job'.

I never hired anyone based on quotas and nonsense. My goals were someone who would 'get er done'. I was CEO and President of a corporation that opened a branch in another city. My job was to bring success and excellence to that branch - My choice was a black female for General Manager who I knew would do the job and make my choice look good to the Board of Directors.

She performed better than my highest expectations and became a lifetime friend to my wife and I.

Hire the one that can make it happen!

Sarah Palin is that type of person.

McCain/Palin 08

Rebecca’s Freudian Slip,
“Palin is not ready to lead. Not only does she only have 2 years experience in the Senate”

It is good to see you openly admit that Senator Obama is not ready to be President of the United States due to his less than two years in the Senate.

Now go to the Blackboard and write “Governor of Alaska” 500 times.

Please volunteer for the Obama campaign.

You would fit right in.

Who's running for PRESIDENT?

By attempting to shift and keep the focus on Sarah Palin, it's quite obvious Kathleen Parker and other Town Hall columnists -- and the McCain camp -- want to keep attention away from John McCain's longtime vulnerability - his uncontrollable, incendiary temper.

A temper which Amanda Carpenter wrote about in her April 1, 2008 column, 'MCCAIN ADMITS TEMPER PROBLEM." In her 4/1/08 article, Carpenter wrote:

"Republican Sen. Thad Cochran (Miss.)., a Romney supporter, told the Boston Globe, 'THE THOUGHT OF A 'HOT HEADED' PRESIDENT McCAIN SENDS A COLD CHILL DOWN MY SPINE."

Also: "Former Sen. Rick Santorum (R.-Pa.), another Romney supporter, also made recorded robo-calls on behalf of the Romney campaign in which he said, “As a conservative I don’t agree with McCain on many issues and I DON'T THINK HE (McCAIN) HAS THE TEMPERAMENT AND LEADERSHIP ABILITY TO MOVE THE COUNTRY IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION."

Last January, Town Hall columnist Michelle Malkin referred to McCain as 'SHORT-FUSED" and a 'HOTHEAD."

Town Hall columnist Mona Charen wrote: "There is a strutting self-righteousness about McCain that goes hand in hand with a NITROGLYCERIN TEMPER."

Why would anyone want to give the opportuniity to a "hothead" with a "short-fuse" and uncontrollable "nitroglycerin temper" to have his hand on the nuclear button?. The ultimate button.

Question?
Question: If something happens to McCain, is Sarah Palin ready to be president?

Answer: Well, if something happens to Biden, is Obama ready to be president?

Taft et al

Jeremiah Wright was chosen by Obama to mentor him - perform his marriage - baptize the Obama children. Obama named a book 'Audacity of Hope' after one of Mentor Wrights sermon.

Frank Marshall Davis was appointed by Moscow in the 50's to help the Communist Party USA and bring CPUSA to Hawaii. Davis was chosen by Obamas maternal grandfather, to give 'Obama' a black father figure at about nine until 16. Obama mentioned Frank multiple times in the Obama book 'Dreams of my Father'.

These two men had a huge impact on Obama or he wouldn't have written about them.

I will NOT leave this issue alone because this issue sheds light on Obama and his thinking.

Impaled or Crucified?

The woman defeated CORRUPT REPUBLICANS. I repeat, she had strength enough, kness enough, to knee CORRUPT REPUBLICANS. I mean "knee" an enemy in the way Marines are taught to "knee" the adversary in hand-to-hand combat.
Rudy has it right: Sarah is, if anything, over-qualified for any coming 9/11 or anything else for that matter. Human, she is of course. Exceptional, there can be no doubt she is an American Original.

She does not have to "knock it out of the park" tonight. All she has to do is be herself and let the camera do the rest.

The best Republicans are not phony baloney: Look at Rudy; look at Lindsey Graham; look at Pawlenty; look at Romney; look at McCain for heaven sake.

Now, tonight, I want to look at Palin. More, I want to hear if she has common sense solutions to our long term national issues...No, unfortunately, that won't work. That won't work. And that's the problem. The attention span of our TV viewers is nil.

Like Toney Blankley realistically and slightly cynically reports: "It's the Economy, Stupid."
Republicans need a better slogan than "Country First." Which is almost a chess game to understand the meaning of it--when people are having to eat baloney and peanut butter.

Politics right now for Republicans is no time for "crucifixion." That's the role of the Democrats (like Jimmy Carter, who told us the truth about our need to make sacrifices for our long term security and health).

Unfortunately in America, well, "the business of America is business." Sarah will sell herself or she won't. I think she will and McCain is salesman enough to have seen her potential for closing deals.

Romney, Giuliani, Huckabee
Sarah will not have to do it all alone: She has amazing, talented support behind her. She will be part of an incredibly gifted Administration. She will be the lynchpin of this Administration just as a strong mom holds everything together.

The nerve of those Republicans
If Obama's wife can be a legitimate campaign issue for her alleged anti-American views then I fail to see why Palin's failure to inculcate her daughter with proper Christian conservative values should not be a legitimate campaign issue. I'm appalled that conservatives, in particular, find it so hard to say what needs saying right out loud: Palin blew it as a Christian mom. Whatever she says now, and regardless of the fact that the father of her daughter's child intends to marry the girl he got pregnant, Palin has zero credibility as a moral leader. Now I know that evangelicals can get around just about any moral failing by saying the evangelical equivalent of "Ooops," but such hypocrisy deserves the contempt we liberals have for it.

Cognitive dissonance

Liberals have fought allowing the Boy Scouts to meet on or use public property.

Liberals voted unanimously to allow an Islamic school to be built and operate in Virginia on public property.

The reasoning behind these decisions by Liberals is 'Separation of Church and State'.

Cognitive dissonance, in simple terms is the holding of two diametrically opposed views as reality.

Liberals have championed feminisim for years and now does NOT want a feminist to be VP of the United States - see a pattern here?

Many other Liberal views are of an 'dual opposed reality' as well.

Most medical experts agree that cognitive dissonance brings great mental and emotional strife to the afflicted.

Many Democrats who are not unbalanced, are having a great deal of issues with Liberals as well.

Liberal compassion that kills born alive babies is a real problem with many Democrats.

Liberals are sick puppies!

Saddleback Obama vs McCain Debate

May of us watched or saw clips from the Saddleback debate between Obama and McCain.

I have a good memory but NOT total recall, like most everyone here at TH.

I have posted on my blog a 'side by side' written comparison showing the questions and answers by the two candidates.

http://geekonobama.blogtownhall.com/2008/09/02/saddleback_d ebate_-_side_by_side.thtml

Gestell tells us that
“Palin has zero credibility as a moral leader.”

As opposed to who?

Is your paragon of virtue Senator “Puncture Baby’s Skulls and Hoover Their Brains Out” Obama?

The twitching of the headless leftist corpses continues unabated.

Obama is still flying under the radar
Obama's core radical left-wing beliefs are summed up in this old radical saying: "By the ballot ... the bullet ... or riots in the streets."

Bill Ayers should be proud of his student Obama ... this one's for you http://www.suntimes.com/news/politics/obama/902213,CST-NWS -ayers18.article !

Obama and his radical left-wing media seem posed to take this country ... by hook or by crook!

As Fatimah Ali wrote: "If McCain wins, look for a full-fledged race and class war, fueled by a deflated and depressed country, soaring crime, homelessness - and hopelessness!"

http://www.philly.com/dailynews/opinion/20080902_Fatimah_Al i__We_need_Obama__not_4_more_years_of_George_Bush.html

Is America ready for the change Obama is bringing? Does America even know what that change is?!?!

CRUCIFIED
A practicing Roman Catholic, I've learned about the Crucifixion--why it happened, what it means for us.

It was "no accident."

Nor is the attempt to put the nail in the coffin of the GOP an accident. You speak Truth, you get crucified. Period.

You are "silent" in the face of insults and lies and ridicule--you get crucified. Period.

You question the status quo--you get crucified. Period.

You do something strange and miraculous that threatens the authorities, you get crucified.

You really stand up for women: get ready to get nailed.

You "do unto the least of these": you will be scourged at the pillar of the press.

You speak without fear of your relationship with God Almighty: they will stone you.

You get angry at the inappropriate money-grubbing: You get crucified forthwith.

You hang out with fishermen: You really get nailed to the cross!

Gestell
How (even in the twisted mind of a liberal) does Michelle Obama's anti-American remarks equate with a teen mom's failure to prevent a pregnancy? You exhibit no logic whatsoever with this contorted line of reasoning. Are you trying to imply that Palin's daughter becoming pregnant brings into question her mother's patriotism in the same way Michelle Obama's remarks do hers? This is nothing more than moral equivocating, and even then, a very POOR JOB of it. Tell us, is every liberal minded American (in your mind) who's teenage daughter becomes pregnant also equate to Michelle Obama's anti-American rants? Or is that judgement solely for those who's political views you disagree with? This type of hogwash is exactly what's wrong with this country. Excuse one's bad behavior by pointing out and equivocating it with someone else's. But then again, both are examples of acting irresponsibly. The only difference is that Michelle Obama NOW tries to deny her anti-American views (with the adoring support of her liberal "subjects") and Palin's teenage daughter will take responsibility for her indisgression and have the baby and marry the father. I can't find one thread of commonality that even REMOTELY equates the two. Perhaps you equivocate because it is the only avenue open to you?

Palin
Her nomination reflects the GOP's fatal flaw--kowtowing to its' strident right wing. Every national poll has shown most Americans' sentiments are in the middle of the spectrum.

It was a great idea for McCain to nominate a woman. To pick one who is so right wing, including her strong anti-choice and pro-gun sentiments, eliminates the possibility of garnering a large number of Hillary supporters who don't like Obama.

What a shame.

Gestell:

Obama’s wife shares his bed/ear and if he's elected would become First Lady -- a time honored highly respected role in America. Your attempt to draw comparisons between her and Palin’s children, based on historical context, is a non sequitur.

Additionally, it would seem your, as well as many Liberals’ perceptions of Christians are formed from your own pejorative biases. Believe what you will, but don’t be surprised when we don’t behave according to your own base predilections.

RG
Someone's been pulling your leg about Davis. It's important to know who is telling what.

Gestell, you don't get it
Gestell, you obviously don't understand Christian families. Having a child make a mistake does not mean that Palin "blew it as a Christian mom." I know very few people, Christian or otherwise who don't have children that sometimes make poor choices. Now, if Palin had told her children that they were just animals, and should go do whatever they want and kill any child that gets in the way of a good time, then I'd say she blew it as a "Christian Mom." Or maybe she would just be Episcopalian?

As for the difference between Palin's daughter and Michelle's comments, is that one of them is ACTUALLY RELAVANT to politics! I don't care if a child makes a poor choice nearly as much as I care that the candidate's spouse appears to have some real antipathy for her country. If you don't see the difference between the two issues, you must be so blinded by hate that you fail to see anything.

ImpeachBush
It is comical to watch you try to defend the indefensible. Michelle Obama and her husband were married by a paster who SCREAMED "God DAMN America" and STILL DOES. They were members of his congregation for over 20 years. Obama HIMSELF called Wright his "mentor". You are like the little Dutch boy plugging holes in the dike with his fingers, sooner or later there will be too many holes and not enough fingers. Of course with a moniker like yours it's understandable that you feel commpelled to defend Michelle Obama. It's a sickness you suffer from. Tell us this, IF the Democratic party is indeed the party of "inclusiveness", why did they choose a white male party HACK like Biden over a VASTLY popular female who happened to carry PRACTICALLY all the remaining Dem voters? What happened to that "big tent" they talk so much about? Why was Hillary Clinton left out in the cold in favor of Joe Biden, a far left political party hack? Admit it, McCain's choice of a running mate has exposed the hypocrisy of the left PERIOD. The biggest reason Obama chose Biden is because Obama has ZERO foreign policy experience and Biden is a toe the line liberal, even more so than Hillary PLUS he is a male. You can fool some of the people some of the time but not all the people all the time. Further ask yourself why Hillary didn't advise her supporters to vote for Obama, instead claiming she alone would do so? Perhaps Hillary now sees the hypocrisy of her party with it's TALK of inclusion even while it practices EXCLUSION. All Obama's talk of "change" is for naught when he (and the party heads) chose Biden as his running mate. Your party is EXPOSED AGAIN. I take great delight watching it's hard core supporters trying to defend it.

Tom 11:48 Post

Thanks! Very enlightening and good anaylsis.

Impeachbush,
Senator Obama voted against the “Federal Ban on Partial Birth Abortions” in the United States Senate. His vote is on the record and if you care to do the least bit of homework, you will verify this.

Now, as for his record in the Illinois State Senate,

Are you sure you want to use the “Born Alive Bill” as your defense of your candidate.

If so, than just for you I will rephrase,

Is your paragon of virtue Senator “Leave Babies to Die on the Shelf” Obama?

Astonishing
After the convention last night, David Gergen, who has worked for both Republican and Democratic Presidents, and who is widely respected, said that he was deeply saddened by the "deep divide" -- "even hatred" -- that he witnessed during the evening.

The fact is, you don't have to buy a ticket to St. Paul to see this, I would tell him if he really wants to be pessimistic about America and depressed about the future of a common American identity, all he has to do is read down this TH thread.

"JH: All hurricanes are acts of God, because God controls the heavens. I believe that New Orleans had a level of sin that was offensive to God, and they were recipients of the judgment of God for that.
The newspaper carried the story in our local area, that was not carried nationally, that there was to be a homosexual parade there on the Monday that the Katrina came. And the promise of that parade was that it would was going to reach a level of sexuality never demonstrated before in any of the other gay pride parades.
So I believe that the judgment of God is a very real thing. I know there are people who demur from that, but I believe that the Bible teaches that when you violate the law of God, that God brings punishment sometimes before the Day of Judgment, and I believe that the Hurricane Katrina was, in fact, the judgment of God against the city of New Orleans.

"Her nomination reflects the GOP's fatal flaw--kowtowing to its' strident right wing. Every national poll has shown most Americans' sentiments are in the middle of the spectrum."

And Biden doesn't reflect the views of the far left also outside mainstream thinking? HILLARIOUS. Face it, Palin is something the left denies exists. She is an honest, hard working conservative Christian woman that is able to care for a family, govern a state, AND succeeds at both. But what is MOST damaging to Liberals is that she got the nod as running mate for the party that supposedly wants to keep women OUT of public life while Clinton was SHUNNED by the party of "inclusion". Perhaps African-Americans will someday realize they've been DUPED the way Hillary HAS to be now? Ever hear the phrase "Actions speak louder than words"? While Democrats TALK inclusion Republicans PRACTICE IT. The Democrats made a BIG MISTAKE when they put Biden (with LITTLE national support) over Hillary (with MILLIONS of supporters) for VP. Obama's talk of change is just that, TALK. The only real change he supports is further making this country into a third world republic while he GIVES away America's wealth. Another tenet FAR outside the American mainstream.

I'm glad you had that actual quote.

runs out of facts/debate points so begins the personal attacks on me and where I get my opinions. FYI my opinions are based on what I read and hear, not what someone else tells me they should be. I heard the tape of her referring to "whitey" etc... Deny all you like, but it is you here trying to defend the words of a America hating radical. And if you THINK her claiming to "now be really proud of America" has nothing to do with Obama's grab for power, I have some swamp land in Nevada to sell you. Personal attacks, like profanity, are BOTH the products of a weak intellect out of facts or ideas to debate with. Everytime you call me "brainwashed" etc... you further expose how little you really know, other than a RABID desire to defend the indefensible with words supplied to you by the very person you attempt to defend. But of course with a moniker like yours, what else could we expect? LOL. So PLEASE continue berating my intelligence and claiming I'm "brainwashed" even while you yourself parrot Michelle Obama's public apologists. You are only re-affirming what people think when they see your moniker. That is "here is a party hack suffering from extreme paranoia".

re: impeach push @ 11:42
I would suggest that Bristol has been taught effectively. One of the precepts of Christianity is that we all make mistakes and misjudgments. Bristol is owning up to hers and not as a liberal would do committing murder to cover up her mistake.

We'll find out what Palin is made of...
I found McCain's selection of Palin for V.P. very interesting. As a third party advocate, I was basically repulsed by the "business as usual" campaigns. With an often controversial (e.g., McCain - Feingold bill) legislative track record, McCain left me confused as to what regard he held the constitution. However, I begrudgingly respected his desire to correct problems with the status quo (e.g., McCain - Kennedy). The selection of a running mate with a record of challenging the status quo moved me to get off the political fence. The rapid, rabid attacks on the governor have moved me to open my checkbook and put my money where my mouth is.

Governor Palin
When McCani picked Governor Palin it was the first time I felt good about this election. Now I have someone to vote for. Previously I was only voting against Obama because of his association with the Chicago Outfit, Rezko, unrepentent terrorist, three radical preachers and because it took Obama twenty years to relize that he was attending a racists church.
Seems like Obama is not aware of a lot of things but promises everything.

If Families Are Fair Game Now
Our time might be much better spent discussing Ann Dunham, Stanley Dunham and Lolo Soetoro. Since abnormal behavior and psychological unreliability are influenced by early childhood experiences this could prove more relevant to national security than Sarah Palin’s abilities as a mother. Why was Ann Dunham’s behavior so far removed from the norm for teenagers in early 1960’s? Is there any truth to allegations of Stanley Dunham’s problems with alcohol? If true what impact did this have on daughter Ann? Was Stanley Dunham a member of the American Communist Party or just a fellow traveler? How did Lolo Soetoro treat the young Barry in his home? Was young Barry abused by Soetoro? Did young Barry witness Ann being abused by Soetoro? There is plenty of good stuff here; I think the American people really need answers.

Maldain
Very well said. America was founded on Christian values, not the least of which is personal responsibility. Obama and his wife belong to a radical minister's church for DECADES, throw him under the bus when practical, then try to behave like they were never associated with him OR shared his views, NONSENSE. My grandfather always told me to be careful who I call my friends because "Birds of a feather flock together". BHO referred to Wright as his "mentor" which means his TEACHER. As it says in the Bible, the good seed cannot come from the bad tree. What Wright taught Obama was his venomous "blame America first" idealology. Afterall, what else COULD he have taught him? Obama has exhibited a flair for rhetoric but nothing else. IMO that is why he chose Biden who toes the hard left party line AND much more importantly has experience legislating if not governing. What has liberals so worried is that they showed Hillary NO respect when Obama chose Biden(a candidate with a following of thousands ignoring one with a following of MILLIONS), once again illuminating the fact they TALK inclusion while practicing otherwise. To be sure both parties are imperfect but they are our only choices. In this instance McCain has put the Democrats in a tough spot by choosing a relatively unknown(but successful) woman while the Democrats shunned the "first lady" of their party DESPITE her massive amount of national support! They effectively DROPPED THE BALL by choosing partisan politics over public support. And Obama claims he's for change?

Has the left "jumped the shark"?
A McCain campaign has reported receiving a number of requests from reporters representing major media for a paternity test for Palin's last child. Is this country going crazy? Obama has issued a statement that a nominees chldren are off base but has done nothing to comdemn his surrogates from the disgusting attack on Gov. Palin.

Abstinence based sex ed
Many people (Libs) feel like abstinence based sex education is ridiculous because all teenagers have sex and they need to understand and engage in "safe sex". Why does this not extend to underage drinking, drugs and criminal behavior? If we approach parenting as a "lets teach them the safest way to engage in dangerous behavior", how can we tell them not to drink, not to take drugs? The only difference is that there is no easy solution to a drug addiction or a fatality in a DUI and the solution to the consequences of pregnancy is an easy to obtain abortion. As a parent, my job is to teach my children what my best expectations are and hold them to that standard. Yes, rules will be broken and some may have more long term consequences than others, but I can't just abstain from parenting them because "they won't listen anyway". I commend the Palin family for their pro-life stand even as it affects them personally.

Rebecca, you might want to ...
double check just who you think is "retarted" (retarded). And yes, the selection of Palin as the VP nominee may "steel" (as is in "shore up" or "solidify") the female vote, but I still think you meant steal.

As for being a conservative, I'm questioning that as well.

Palin Impailed
Bravo, Kathleen! During a long career in a mid western university, I had my fill of the posturing and rank, sleezy hypocrisy of my leftist colleagues. I know them too well. So do you. There are always self-appointed commissars of political correctness and acceptable diversity. Only the vetted and selected minority or woman receives their tainted benevolence. Obviously Sarah Palin fails to genuflect to them and is ostracised.

Stick 'em again!!

Feminazi Hypocrites

Gee, I thought that the Leftie Losers believe that a girl of 14 is old enough to make her own reproductive decisions. After all, they keep insisting that a girl of that age should be allowed to have an abortion without Mom & Dad's consent.

I assume that the Palin's daughter went to public school, and had her head filled with a lot of Leftest garbage about sex, and that she would be convinced by them that she can make her own decisions about her sexuality.

BUT NOW that it is clear that the conservatives are in love with Sarah Palin, the Lefties are grasping at anything they can get their nasty little shriveled up talons on.

Hey! Hypocrites! Whatever happened to your lectures about young women making their own sexual choices!? Are you really the prudes you have turned into, or are you just a bunch of nasty bi-zitches?

I suspect that both are true.

Comparing Apples to Obama
Taft, you keep bringing up what this or that preacher may have said in order to excuse Obama's hate-filled mentor. You miss the point. If Wright was just some guy who happened to endorse Obama, we wouldn't be having this conversation. Obama sat in Wright's nuthouse church for 20 YEARS, listening to this weekly diatribe. He donated money to this church even as it was printing anti-Semitic statements like the Hamas manifesto. He called this nutter his mentor, was married by him, and chose to have his kids be baptized by him. Wright and his poison were a significant part of most of Obama's adult life.

To excuse this (at best) horrible lack of judgment, you drag out comments by Falwell and Hagee. Whether there is any validity or not in their statements is besides the point. If McCain had sat in their pews for twenty years of hate, then we could have this discussion. However, these men were not central figures in McCain's growth as a man, a Christian, or a politician. Therefore, any comparison between Wright's impact on Obama and these men's impact on McCain is ridiculous.

Will the nastiness of the Left alienate
the daytime TV crowd?

All of the women who sit at home and watch Oprah, Gerry Springer, and Tyra, are exposed day after day to sympathetic stories about single moms who aren't even sure who the daddies of their babies are.

Do you think that these women are going to turn around and hate the mother of an unwed mother?

I think this nastiness is going to backfire on the vitriolic Left, and is only going to garner more support for the Palin family.

My doubts about Dems. Let's test
I think Barack is a wimp. Those two daughters cannot possibly be his. He couldn't have fathered children. Let's get his DNA tested and their DNA tested.

Michelle Obama looks like a space alien to me. I'm not even sure she is of the human race. Let's get her DNA tested.

One of Obama daughters apparently can't tell the difference between her Daddy on a big screen and her Daddy in person. Let's get her IQ tested. Maybe she should be in a special-needs school.

The Obamas are parading their daughters all over the media. Shouldn't they be in school? Isn't this damaging to their immature psyches? Let's call in social services to investigate.

Joe Biden looks so old that I suspect he is actually dead. Or maybe he just died in the Senate and they never removed the body. Can someone stick a needle in his arm and see if there's any blood left in there?

That's my imitation of a good leftie troll. Pretty hard to top, eh?

taft you idiot
As soon as those wignuts run for office you can jump right on them. Until then you look like an idiot.

for Right Makes Might
Right Makes Might writes: "If you need proof that even the greatest of political figures can experience disappointment with their efforts to raise their own children right, I have three words for you: Ron Reagan, Jr."

The difference is, Ronald Reagan didn't scold us on premarital sex the way Dan Quayle, Phyllis Schlafly, and the rest of the social conservative movement did.

I remember the 1980 Presidential campaign vividly. Ronald Reagan ran a straight-up campaign that focused on entirely on economics and foreign policy. He NEVER engaged in personal gutter tactics against Jimmy Carter or Walter Mondale. He NEVER tried to divide us by "culture war" wedge issues like abortion and abstinence-only sex education. At best he played lip service to those issues. With him it was all about fighting stagflation and Communism.

Why can't you guys see that difference? Don't you see a difference between a politician who takes moralizing off the table (and has his own moral failings), versus the modern social conservative movement that makes moralizing its centerpiece while it circles the wagons around any of its own members who fall short of that moral standard?

The good parent myth...
I'm sick of the Gestell types that come on here and pass judgement on someone's parenting based on the choices a child makes. Yes, that's right, the CHILD has choices to make.

I am the youngest of thirteen children. My parents were absolutely the best parents a child could have. Were they perfect? Not by any stretch of the imagination. But they gave each of us the love we needed and they knit together a wonderful family.

Still, there are problems in my family. We were all taught right from wrong. My parents, my mother especially, were devout Catholics and were taught those morals. So how did it come about that the one of the five boys, the only one who was an altar boy, became a convicted felon and spent time in prison? We had the same moral upbringing, how is that I didn't end up in prison as well?

The point is, there is a myth that good parents will produce good kids. While good parenting will help set the child up for a better future, there are NO guarantees. The opposite of this myth is also false: Bad kid must mean bad parenting. Only idiots or people who have never had kids still believe this. I'm guessing Gestell is a lesbian and will never know.

I think most social conservatives would agree that Bristol should have kept her legs together. In fact, I bet Bristol would agree as well. But go figure, kids make mistakes. At least she seems to be making the correct choice now, rather than sucking out her child's brains and flushing it down the sink as "grandpa Obama" would advise his daughters to do. All that said, what does any of this have to do with whether Sarah Palin can be a good VP?

impeachbush . . . goofy
Hypocrites would attempt to kill the life they created. So let's see where that leaves Liberal theology . . . oh, right in line with hypocrisy. We don't punish the child for being stupid--neither the born nor the unborn. Once you get that distinction right maybe you'll understand the difference between hypocritical oaths and Hippocratical oaths:

"...Nor will I give a woman a pessary to procure abortion . . . " Hippocrates 4th Century BC

Read history instead of spouting made up fantasies. If you want to blame religion for this obvious lapse in your intelligence, have at it. Hippocrates had many gods . . . just like Liberals.

The lady Vote

I can not vision a woman in her right mind not voting for the McCain Palin.

Sexism and those that hate women defeated Hillary. The media/print press, the same ones trying to destroy Sarah Palin as we speak.

This is opportunity of a lifetime for a woman to cast a vote and have a real voice in the White House that understands women issues.

McCain will make a great President.

impeachbush . . . cont'd
So where does that leave your weak logic? If he couldn't give a drug to harm the unborn, would a raging polytheist even consider cutting a fetus out or scrambling its brain?

Do you see the hypocrisy of the Liberal position yet?

SteveL
In 1980, Pop culture had not evolved to the unbelievable debasing indoctrination for our kids that it has sunk to today.

Read Reagan's Farewell Address (you don't need a link, you just need to Google it) and then tell me he would just give lip-service to these issues today.

The day the U.S. succumbs to and assimilates the narcissistic values of Europe (remember those guys we've bled for for almost a century because they cannot fight evil by themselves?) will be the day Americans will all lose.

McCain and Palin symbolize why that point in time may not yet be at hand, Thank God.

I'm giddy
I'm just so happy about the Palin pick, and I think the attacks are a good thing. The more you attack her and her family the more votes she'll get IMO.

One thing you need to keep in mind about impeachbush is, as I said in an earlier post on this thread, he is a dweeb. He probably still believes that disgusting crap that was put out by the DailyKooks (or DailyGross, take your pick). I present for my evidence his post at 1:59 pm to prove he has completely gone over the deep end, if we ever had any doubt about that. He can't make a logical, coherent argument, he just rants and raves.

Just wondering

Even Obama has had the decency to take this subject off the table. Why can't the rest of you.

How about it Will, IowaPat...

impeachbush
Impeachbush,

Why do you deny Senator Obama’s opposition to the Federal Ban on Partial Birth Abortion? If the procedure was not banned, it would continue. It is this simple.

The United States Supreme Court upheld the ban on April 18, 2007.

By his own words, Senator Obama clearly opposes the Federal Ban on Partial Birth Abortion.

“I strongly disagree with today's Supreme Court ruling, which dramatically departs from previous precedents safeguarding the health of pregnant women. As Justice Ginsburg emphasized in her dissenting opinion, this ruling signals an alarming willingness on the part of the conservative majority to disregard its prior rulings respecting a woman's medical concerns and the very personal decisions between a doctor and patient. I am extremely concerned that this ruling will embolden state legislatures to enact further measures to restrict a woman's right to choose, and that the conservative Supreme Court justices will look for other opportunities to erode Roe v. Wade, which is established federal law and a matter of equal rights for women.”

(I have triple sourced this quote.)

This man opposes any limits on abortion because to him it is a very slippery slope.

You are indeed correct in pointing out that the vote took place in 2003. I thank you for pointing out my ignorance and I formally retract the false statement.

At what point did Gov. Palin EVER say that she thought she was better than any of us? At what point did she even HINT that she thought that way? As far as talking about her qualifications, at least she HAS some qualifications. What does Hussein have? He was a "community organizer" (shakedown artist), an Illinois state senator, and was in the U.S. Senate for 143 days before starting his Presidential run. Yes, he was on the boards of those foundations, sitting beside the likes of William Ayers, an unrepentant terrorist, and went hat-in-hand to Ayers for his blessing when Hussein wanted to run for office. All he has ever done is give speeches and write, usually about himself. If you have the qualifications, why not talk about them? Why doesn't Hussein ever talk about HIS qualifications? Because, if he did, there would be a lot of silence.

Did I say anything about Obama? Sorry if my saying 'Thank God' implied in any way a parody of Obama and his deification.

I was pretty much thinking about when Reagan beat Carter in 1980, and a famous Congressman (sorry, I'll have to look up who that was) said, "God has given America a second chance."

Man...Sorry, I am just a student of American History, and am at the point of learning where I can repeat what Fred Thompson said last night, ..."a leader that doesn't have to apologize for America."

On the God thing...wow, I can't believe you interpreted it like that.

I'm wondering where the feminists are with all the stuff being thrown at Palin. Probably under the same rock they crawled under when we were restoring at least some women's rights in Afghanistan, or when it took only a couple of years for women to get voting rights in Iraq vs. waiting 150 years in America.

I guess I could continue this line with the need to bring the rest of the world along with us into the 21st century, but that would have to go against the left agenda of placing the responsibility for all of our needs on the government.

You see, that won't work in the new democracies we created. We have become the anti-JFK country: "Ask what your government can do for you."

It's pathetic.

Sorry!

Only got that drab because we can count on Palin and McCain will lift us up tonite and tomorrow.

In a couple of months, it will be a pleasure responding to these people when they've finally been marginalized, shown to be wrong, and most of them crawl back under the rock.

You become a hypocrite if you supported Hillary Clinton and you continue to attack Sara Palin.
You have no evidence that John McCain did not know about the situation other than the fact that McCain’s organization SAID THAT THEY KNEW ABOUT IT!
You will soon hear Sara Palin explain their JUDGEMENT regarding FAMILY decisions in tonight’s address, she has to lay all of her cards on the table. I believe she will show the world that her family deals with the same family issues that you and I have faced (is this a rerun of last week’s DNC convention). The answer’s will explain how Sara Palin deals with the consequences for her actions as well as the action’s of her family. She will have to put her JUDGEMENT on display.
It is an ASSUMPTION to say that three lives are going to be ruined when two teenager’s decided to get married because of their baby. You cannot assume a divorce is certain. This will only result in positive points for Sara Palin. These are all ATTACK points. The Republican’s can win the CULTURE WAR with Sara Palin.

Republican's can win PART 2
Hypocrisy point
Hillary Clinton remained married to a womanizer that got caught. Did you ATTACK Hillary regarding why she endured the humiliation and remained married to the BUM? Why did she put her daughter through the humiliation? She could have protected Chelsea from the humiliation by divorcing Bill Clinton. What kind of a message did Hillary send to Chelsea regarding the Clinton FAMILY VALUES?
Did she stay married because of her POLITICAL CAREER GOALS? It is not as if she was going to be a heartbeat away from the Presidency! Oh wait, that’s right, Hillary received 18 MILLION votes in her quest to be the First woman president of the USA. HYPOCRACY!
Are you appalled at Brad Pit and Angelina Jolie for having six children and two high profile, attention demanding career’s? Or did you support them? The media paid $11 million dollars for the baby photo’s of the twin’s! if you accept and praise the BRAD PIT/ JOLIE Camelot couple and then ATTACK Sara Palin then you would be a HYPOCRITE!
The MEDIA is the real industry that is going to have egg on it’s face if they continue to attack the PALIN FAMILY. The AGENDA of the MEDIA is going to be exposed for what they really stand for.
THE REPUBLICAN’S couldn’t buy better advertisement. MSM, Democrat’s, Planned Parenthood, the NEA, are all joining in on the PALIN ATTACK, all of them showing their HYPOCRITCAL side of their organization’s. I see another implosion on the horizon.

What if...
I feel bad, I really do. But tell me how Republicans would have responded if Chelsea had been knocked up? With compassion and understanding?

Palin needs to answer WHAT IF... tonight
HP... I agree with you, the republican's would have some choice words if the situation were reversed.

That is why Sara Palin needs to show America that she, and her family are strong enough to weather the storm. Sara Palin also needs to take the high road regarding this issue.

Out of the Park
She nailed it. The questions are answered. The game is afoot.

How about her family?
Troopers one and all. That little girl was so darling.

The Left Wing smears are welcome
they are stoking our base. Let the Heathens rage-they are fun to watch.

Odd..
Why does it not bother the Democrats that most of the liberal Judges on the Supreme Court are all older than John McCain? After all, we're living longer and longer, and he's in perfect health. Even John's mother agrees! And she's 95!

As Reagan stated in his re-election campain, "I want you to know that also I will not make age an issue of this campaign. I am not going to exploit, for political purposes, my opponent's youth and inexperience." -during a 1984 presidential debate with Walter Mondale

That is certainly more accurate in this year's race.

"BTW dare I say it? Bristol had a tight fitting dress on and she did NOT look like she is five months pregnant!"

I have not seen the picture, but people are notoriously bad at discerning changes in other peoples' bodies. When I was 7 months pregnant with my first child, people thought I'd already had the baby because I looked so slim. I had a perfectly healthy albeit small baby, and my weight gain was evenly distributed all over my body.

Furthermore, the clothes a person wears can trick the eye - how many people do you know seek out clothes to make themselves look plumper? Just because she doesn't look 5 months pregnant to you, doesn't mean she isn't. Get over yourself. Your judgment is not infallible either.

Impeachbush, Will and Taft
You guys are human excrement. You dip to the lowest lows, nothing off limits, fine. You are gay incestuous, God Hating, selfish trolls. You guys need to make it over for auditions for Michael Moore's new movie. I think it is Titled
"Kill the Evil Palins" Get over yourselves, you look very stupid, but then again you all are very stupid. Cheers

On Republican abortion hypocrisy
--
One of the remarkable things about Republicans and "social" pseudoconservatives in the discussion of voluntary abortion is the following, pulled from Ms. Parker's column above:

"She [Sarah Palin] doesn't believe in abortion except to save a mother's life. That's hardcore, even for pro-life Republicans, most of whom allow for abortion in cases of rape and incest."

Gives me to admire Governor Palin even more.

If there's an ethical collapse in the "social" pseudoconservatives' argument for re-criminalizing voluntary abortions, it's their eagerness to "allow" - hell, *REQUIRE* - the curette to be shoved up into the uterus "in cases of rape and incest."

"Social" pseudoconservatives (among their many, many other totally filthy, hateful characteristics) depend upon religious belief as their fundamental basis for all moral decision-making.

Setting aside the utter bullsh!t at the heart of relying upon delusions about the putative will of some sort of undefinable Cosmic Thunderer, let's try for a moral standard that focuses on the individual human being.

Is the conceptus - zygote, then embryo, then fetus, then baby - a human being?

Genetically, yeah. It can't survive without hellacious "life support" until quite late in gestation, but there's no doubt of its unique individuality *AND* humanity.

Okay.

So how does it suddenly get to be moral to abort it if it'd been conceived by way of rape or incest?

Viable pregnancy, genetically unique entity, incontrovertably human.

But in these cases, disposable.

Hm. Some "morality."

So you guys claim to believe in God, right?

Well, God damn you.

You went after her kids. You still are.
McCain-Palin

Zogby - up 3.8%
Gallup - up 3%
USA Today - up 10%.

You should not have attacked her kids. You looked positively evil. But you did.

And what does the New York Times have planned for this week? A front page story on Palin’s baby. What a bunch of tools.

Even the bean-counters at MSNBC are starting to realize what a mistake they made. MSNBC dropped Keith Olbermann and Chris Matthews from anchoring election coverage.

But it’s too late for MSNBC. They can only be seen now as an extension of the Obama campaign masquerading as independent and balanced journalists. It should be considered to be part of the campaign and controlled by the very election laws it championed.

You went after her kids.
You still are.
Lose.

What is your suggestion?
OK. I know Kathleen is sensitive to people retorting to her with "hurting words", so...

Kathleen - you don't like Sarah Palin... we get it. You are not in the majority among Republican voters, but that is your opinion. But what do you suggest to fix that problem? Do you suggest that McCain drops her from the ticket and picks someone else with 3 weeks left 'til the election? Because at this point, all the repeated Palin criticism doesn't help one bit.

Quite frankly for McCain to dump her now would destroy his chance at winning the election, as the media would pounce on his poor decisions and lack of judgement. Dumping her would do more harm than good.
