With unemployment at 10.2%, what will happen by the end of Obama's first term?

Barack Obama yesterday kicked off a week of patriotic speeches. It's much more than the normal politician's July 4 oration - it's Obama's answer to a crucial test.

After all, millions of Americans have seen the tapes of the Rev. Jeremiah Wright - Obama's longtime pastor - damning America, painting our nation as the world's villain. So voters have a right to wonder how pro-American Obama really is.

A question on such an existential level is unusual in politics - but so is Rev. Wright.

Obama's first "patriotism" speech yesterday struck just the right notes in articulating his love of America. If he keeps it up, it will go far toward easing voters' concerns.

The candidate included the usual anti-war rhetoric and noted our failings ("ongoing racial strife," "perversions of our political system," "the wrenching poverty of the Mississippi Delta") - but also paid due homage to the nation that is giving him the opportunity to become its leader.

More, he let us know he understands that America is the leading force for good in the world - referring to his "gut instinct that so many of us have, that America is the greatest country on Earth."

He praised "the joys of American life and culture - its vitality, its variety, its freedom" and noted that they had "always outweighed its imperfections." He said that what "makes America great has never been its perfection, but the belief that it can be made better."

The president is the high priest of our secular religion. From that pulpit, Ronald Reagan affirmed his belief that God placed us as a unique nation between two oceans to offer a beacon of liberty and hope to the world. Abraham Lincoln called the United States the "last best hope of Earth."

Does Obama embrace this secular faith ardently enough to be its priest? The question lingered after Wright's expostulations. Continued...

Dick's Point of View
It is important to remember that Dick has a point of view as one looking at what are the smart things to do to get elected.

Dick isn't a supporter of Senator Obama, he is just pointing out the obvious; that for Senator Obama to become President Obama he has to convince voters that his beliefs are different than what his history and actions say they are.

Senator Obama is a cynical Liberal politician who could care less about the truth. He just wants to get elected.

As voters listen to him they should keep in mind that this cynic has a past that with very little effort can be seen for what it is.

He doesn't have a job history other than working for communist based organizations. He has never started a company, worked for a profit seeking enterprise, or had any level of executive responsibility.

The sum total of his adult life has been directed at taking money from rich people and corporations; often by using extortionist tactics, and keeping it for himself and the other 'leaders' of the organizations he has worked for. Some money may somehow trickle down to the people it was intended to help, but little evidence of any benefit to anyone other than himself and those anointed few exists.

He is wealthy. He never worked cheap, nor has his wife. He made sure that he was well taken care of before much of anything else happened.

He lives in a large house paid for from the proceeds of a dubious land-deal. He hasn't ever generated one productive item in his adult life.

Dick Morris knows this better than most. So I think he is really trying to tell us that to keep this communist out of office, McCain need only take a few consistent steps to make certain that when they get to the voting booth in November, American's know what Obama really represents. If Senator McCain fails to deliver that message, we can all expect a decline in all aspects of our lives and freedoms,

Cheers,

Bloefeld

B Hussein
I find it difficult to believe B Hussein on his recent patroitism. Speeches and talk are just cheap words to trick people into believing something that is not true.

If B Hussein is so patroitic why did he sit for twenty plus years in Rev Wright's pew? Why did he recently begin wearing a flag pin on his lapel? How about his dealings with Akers, Rezko, etc..

People be careful, you may be getting into a deal you never knew was coming your way, or supported. Look at a candidates record, this will tell you ehere they come from and also can predict the future.
