The Democratic National Convention (DNC) will begin this week. After President Joe Biden’s disastrous debate performance against former President Donald Trump in June. Shortly after, Biden started tanking in polls.
In July, Biden announced that he would not seek reelection and endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris. Since then, polls have shown the race between Harris and Trump closer than Trump versus Biden.
An ABC News/Washington Post/Ipsos survey survey released late last week found that Harris has 49 percent of support among registered voters while Trump has 45 percent.

In the survey, 44 percent of respondents said that they are either “very” or “somewhat” satisfied with the options of Trump and Harris this year. On the other hand, 55 percent said that they are dissatisfied.
The poll found that Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, Harris’ running mate, is viewed more favorably (39 percent) than Sen. JD Vance, Trump’s running mate (32 percent).
Fifty-two percent of respondents said that they approve of Harris’ decision to pick Walz as her running mate. On the contrary, 44 percent disapprove.
Trump has stated repeatedly that if Harris and Walz are elected, they will turn the United States “communist immediately” starting with their methods of “fixing” the economy.
“There’s never been a ticket like this. This is a ticket that would want this country to go communist immediately if not sooner,” Trump claimed.
The ABC News/Washington Post/Ipsos poll was conducted among 2,336 respondents on Aug. 9-13. It has a margin of error of plus or minus 2 percentage points.
