The Biden administration is finally building some miles of border wall in the Rio Grande Valley Sector, almost three years after it opened the floodgates to illegal immigration, causing the worst situation at our southern border in modern history.
The Biden administration has claimed there is nothing it can do about the border wall construction because the money was appropriated by Congress in 2019 and has not been reappropriated since then.
The funds for ~20 miles of border reinforcements were appropriated in 2019 before @POTUS took office. He called on Congress to reappropriate the funds for smarter, more effective enforcement uses. Congress failed to do so. Rule of law requires the project be completed in 2023. https://t.co/GZ7eDG2m9d

Fact: @POTUS asked Congress to cancel or shift these funds towards smarter, more effective enforcement at the border – Congressional Republicans refused.

Putting aside this same administration has been willing to bend the laws over other issues, like canceling student loan debt and abortion, the main reason why it is putting out this messaging is to provide cover from its now-angered far-left allies and gullible Democrats, who say there is nothing wrong with the border, to say, "Look, Biden is doing something."
It's cynical really. The Biden administration has been willing to undo everything regarding border security, resulting in the mess the country is in, but they can't seem to find a way to delay border wall construction.
Even Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas has said his words have been taken out of context, despite the fact his words about the need for wall construction were the most honest he has ever been about the issue: "There is presently an acute and immediate need to construct physical barriers and roads in the vicinity of the border of the United States in order to prevent unlawful entries into the United States."

I want to address today’s reporting relating to a border wall and be absolutely clear.

There is no new Administration policy with respect to border walls. My full statement ⬇️ pic.twitter.com/ga1fEMqvN8
But lastly, even if Biden finished all border wall projects, it would not matter. The wall is only as effective as the policies that deal with illegal immigration. The wall in El Paso has proven as such. People cross the Rio Grande illegally, and instead of being detained to be sent back, depending on their nationality, they are allowed through the gates, processed, and released into the United States.
