Rand Paul: Biden Now Needs to 'Come Out of Hibernation' and Answer Flynn Questions

Now that we have the names of the individuals involved in the scheme to unmask former national security adviser Gen. Michael Flynn, Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) said reporters have a duty to ask more questions, especially of presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden.

"He needs to come out of hibernation and they need to ask Vice President Biden, what kind of person eavesdrops?" Sen. Paul said at a press conference on Wednesday. "Is that something that we think is a legit function of government, to eavesdrop on your opponent without a warrant, to illegally unmask them and listen to their private conversations?"

"This is an abuse of power that should not rest and should make every American worried that if Vice President Biden were elevated to the top office, would he again use this kind of power on political opponents?" Sen. Paul added.

This is exactly what the Democrats accused President Trump of in this year's impeachment hearing, Sen. Paul noted. But he was acquitted.

Sen. Paul wants to hold a hearing next week demanding that the involved individuals, including former FBI Director James Comey, former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, and former CIA Director John Brennan, testify under oath. Paul suspects that President Obama knew about the plot to get Flynn to lie to FBI agents too.

Sen. Paul has for months been proposing amendments to reform the FISA process so as to better protect Americans' privacy. What happened to Flynn, he said, “should never be allowed to happen again.”
