McEnany Sees Through Top Dem's Attempt to Get Fauci Testimony

Democrats are investigating the Trump administration's response to the coronavirus and they want to hear from Dr. Anthony Fauci. House Appropriations Committee Chair Nita Lowey indicated that she wants Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and one of the most recognizable White House coronavirus task force members, to testify at their congressional hearing on Wednesday.

The White House said that's not happening. As they put it, Dr. Fauci could make much better use of his time.

“While the Trump Administration continues its whole-of-government response to COVID-19, including safely opening up America again and expediting vaccine development, it is counter-productive to have the very individuals involved in those efforts appearing at Congressional hearings," White House spokesman Judd Deere explained. "We are committed to working with Congress to offer testimony at the appropriate time.”

New White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany was a bit more blunt in her response for Democrats itching to hear from Fauci. In a press gaggle over the weekend, she accused Chairwoman Lowey of staging a "publicity stunt."

Lowey returned an accusation after it was revealed that Fauci would be permitted to testify before the Senate.

According to McEnany, Chairman Lowey reached out to White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, but she failed to explain what the subject matter of the hearing would be.

President Trump, who has been the subject of the Democrats' investigations for nearly four years now, instructed his foes to find a new hobby.

For weeks the press has been trying to expose a nonexistent wedge between the president and Dr. Fauci.
