Former Vice President Joe Biden finally addressed the claims of misconduct from former aide Tara Reade. Before his Friday morning appearance on MSNBC’s Morning Joe, the former vice president had remained silent in the face of Reade’s claims. For the first time yet, Biden himself, not his campaign advisors, denied Reade’s claims:
BREAKING: Joe Biden, asked on @Morning_Joe if he sexually assaulted Tara Reade:

“No, it is not true. I’m saying unequivocally it never, never happened. And it didn’t. It never happened.” https://t.co/wNK8Xw9p0x
Co-hosts Mika Brzezinski and Joe Scarborough pressed Biden on the brazenly hypocritical double standard used by Democrats in the case of allegations against the former vice president, after the Left believed less credible, unsubstantiated allegations against Brett Kavanaugh from Dr. Ford in the Fall of 2018. As Brzezinski points out, Biden claimed that women should be believed at face value:

On the issue of the hidden records from his 36 year career in the United States Senate, Biden insisted that he has nothing to hide, and that any evidence to corroborate Reade’s claims would not be present. Still, the former vice president would not commit to unsealing the records:

Full exchange on Biden saying he won't release his Senate records at the Univ. of Delaware --

"The idea that they would be made public while I was running for public office, they could be taken out of context ... they could be fodder." pic.twitter.com/tUOGBBttOd
Democrats are standing beside Biden, without even giving Reade a chance to tell her full side of the story, despite their previous commitment to “believe all women” in the face of misconduct allegations. With due process on his side, Biden could clear a lot of skepticism by unsealing the documents from his Senate career that are under lock and key at the University of Delaware. If the former vice president has nothing to hide, and if Reade’s claims are untrue, it is unclear why Biden would not release the records, which he has the ultimate power to do, and put this controversy to rest.
