'She's Being a Hypocrite': Kevin McCarthy Hammers Nancy Pelosi's Defense of Biden Against Tara Reade's Allegations

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) criticized Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi's (D-CA) defense of presumed Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden against the sexual assault allegation made by former Senate aide Tara Reade during a press call on Thursday.

I asked what his reaction was to Pelosi telling CNN Thursday morning, "I do support Joe Biden, I’m satisfied with how he has responded."

Biden has not directly responded to the allegations made by Reade, nor has he been asked about the allegation despite numerous interviews from when Reade made them.

Pelosi went on to state during her weekly press conference that she respects the MeToo movement, but "There is also due process, and the fact that Joe Biden is Joe Biden."

"She's being a hypocrite. You cannot say that Joe Biden — if you are taking it as his nature — has he talked to Tara Reade? Has she ever looked into it? Joe Biden has not responded to this. You can't say one thing about every other time she's commented about any accusation and now say it is ok," McCarthy said.

"She endorsed Joe Biden after knowing the Tara Reade situation. So did anybody follow up with a question to the speaker? 'When you went to endorsed Joe Biden, did you first look at her?' If she thinks his lack of response is a good enough response, to me, that is being a hypocrite based upon the past comments she made on other situations she made similar to this," he added.

Pelosi's reaction to Reade's allegations is vastly different when compared to the allegations made against then-Judge Brett Kavanaugh during his Supreme Court confirmation in 2018.
