GA Senate Candidate Attacks 'Invisible' Sen. Perdue While She Hides Her Mayoral Record

Georgia Senate hopeful Teresa Tomlinson took to the airwaves to criticize Republican leadership during COVID-19, including Sen. David Perdue (R-GA), whom she hopes to unseat in November. Tomlinson currently faces a primary contest ahead of the June 9th primary; her competition includes Jon Ossoff and Sarah Riggs Amico, both of whom Tomlinson has previously criticized for lack of political experience. The eventual primary victor will face Sen. Perdue in November; the seat is rated as "likely Republican" from Cook Political Report, Crystal Ball and Inside Elections.

Tomlinson claimed that Sen. Perdue has been an “invisible” senator during COVID-19, but what she leaves out is Sen. Perdue’s work on the implementation of the Small Business Administration’s (SBA) Paycheck Protection Program (PPP), which is the most crucial economic relief program for American small business owners and employees suffering financial distress. On the contrary, Tomlinson's party delayed the passage of funding for PPP for nearly two weeks.

Sen. Perdue was also appointed to President Trump’s Congressional Economic Task Force to advise the president on how to proceed with opening the economy from Congress’s standpoint, helping Americans get back to work:

Tomlinson’s ad boasts her record as mayor of Columbus, Georgia, which ranked 24th on WalletHub’s list of “best run cities” in 2018. What Tomlinson does not tell viewers is that the same study found that Columbus ranked 121st in “quality of service,” 124th in “economy,” and 149th in “health.” Tomlinson’s tenure as Mayor of Columbus was also rocked by race relations issues; the Senate hopeful has received criticism from leaders of the NAACP for her negligence toward the African American community.

While misleading Georgia voters on her own record in order to attack Sen. Perdue, Tomlinson still has to win the state’s primary. Tomlinson still faces Jon Ossoff and Sarah Riggs Amico in Georgia’s primary, set for June 9.
