Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) on Sunday encouraged MSNBC viewers to "follow their gut" instead of listening to health care experts when it comes to the Wuhan coronavirus.
"I would push back and, no matter what these decisions, and these other folks on these task force that are being put together," Tlaib said. "Your gut feeling, follow that. It probably is much more credible than what you might be seeing coming out of various administrations."

The freshman congresswoman also encouraged workers to stay home if they are afraid of going back to work.

It's amazing that Tlaib is able to get away with saying not to trust members of the White House Coronavirus Task Force. Dr. Anthony Fauci, the head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, is a known liberal. And yet he has repeatedly made recommendations that he says President Trump has listened to. Dr. Deborah Birx has said the same thing.
"The first and only time that Dr. Birx and I went in and formally made a recommendation to the president to actually have a 'shutdown,'" Fauci said earlier this month.
"Obviously there would be concern by some and, in fact, that might have some negative consequences. Nonetheless, the president listened to the recommendation and went to the mitigation," he explained. "The next second time I went with Dr. Birx in to the president and said 15 days are not enough, we need to go 30 days, obviously, there were people who had a problem with that because of the potential secondary effects. Nonetheless, at that time, the president went with the health recommendations and we extended it another 30 days."
People like Tlaib make the briefings and recommendations sound like it's just politicians randomly coming up with whatever restrictions and determinations they want. That's the furthest thing from the case. We have two infectious disease experts leading the nation's Wuhan coronavirus response. Telling people to "go with their gut" is irresponsible.
If people want to stay home to protect themselves, that's fine. No one is going to shame them for that. But to tell them to blatantly disregard all recommendations coming from health care officials is not only wrong, it's negligent.
