Former NYPD Sergeants Blame De Blasio for Letting New York Become Epicenter of Outbreak

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio urged President Trump to "help his hometown" in a new Twitter message on Monday, suggesting that POTUS was to blame for the current crisis in the Big Apple. Although it was the Democrats who have been blocking the stimulus votes lately.

"If New York City doesn't get help from the federal government, we won't be able to pay the bills," de Blasio says in his message.

The Sergeants Benevolent Association pointed the finger right back at de Blasio. From where they're standing, the city's high volume of cases is thanks to the mayor's slow response.

How right they are. Back on March 3, the mayor urged New Yorkers to go out on the town and see a movie or two. Right around the time that Speaker Pelosi was encouraging Californians to come on out to Chinatown.

Furthermore, as Katie reported on Monday, former inmates let out of jail in New York City have returned to lives of crime. Again the mayor failed to see his hand in it.

“I think it’s unconscionable just on a human level that folks were shown mercy and this is what some of them have done,” the mayor said during a Monday morning briefing.

With the city is still experiencing a high rate of COVID-19 cases (New York is now reaching the quarter-million mark) de Blasio decided to ban all parades and events at least through the month of June.

But, there is some good news. Hospitalizations have leveled off to the point where New York is able to send over 100 ventilators to other states in need. And Gov. Andrew Cuomo was happy to announce on Monday that they are unveiling the largest antibody test in the country.

The tests look for coronavirus antibodies in blood—signs that a person has fought off an infection, which could be present even if that person wasn’t sick enough to get tested for the virus. The state plans initially to test 3,000 people.

“This will be the first true snapshot of what we’re really dealing with,” New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Sunday.
