Why Would People Willingly Support the WHO When They Failed the World?

On Friday, artists from around the globe came together to hold an eight-hour-long, live-streamed concert called "Together at Home." The concert was a collaboration between the World Health Organization and Global Citizen. The funds raised from the concert, however, benefit the WHO.

"One World: Together At Home is a campaign rallying funds for the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund for the World Health Organization," the Global Citizen website stated. "The WHO's mission for COVID-19 is to prevent, detect, and respond to the pandemic. This Fund, powered by the UN Foundation, goes directly to WHO's rapid response to COVID-19 around the world."

To promote the concert, the WHO took to Twitter to ask people to put aside differences and come together to support the organization's "life-saving work."

"Today, we come together as one to express our common humanity, to mourn those we have lost, to salute the health workers who serve us and to say, with one voice, 'We shall not be defeated,'" WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesu said in a video. "COVID-19 has taken so much from us but it has also given us [a] unique opportunity to put aside our differences, to break down barriers and seek the best in each other and to lift our voices for health for all and to ensure this never happens again. Never again."

"The World Health Organization is proud to be part of this historic show of solidarity," he said.

"Today we stand together in the fight against COVID-19. We must test, know the systems and the ways to avoid the virus," Infectious Disease Epidemiologist and COVID-19 Technical Lead for the WHO Maria Van Kerkhove said. "By doing so, we protect ourselves and we protect each other. Let's all be patient and well-informed, staying physically apart but socially connected. We are all in this together. Trust in science and know that the world is working hard on vaccines and treatments." 

"We face a crisis unlike any other. To overcome it, we must unite," UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said. "... And please join our call for a global ceasefire to focus on our common enemy: the virus. Thank you for your life-saving support through the World Health Organization and the other humanitarian agencies. Together we will defeat this virus and rebuild a fairer world as united citizens and united nations." 

It's rather ironic that the WHO is going to try and paint themselves out to be an organization that has people's best interests at heart. It's like they magically forgot that they could have prevented the spread of the Wuhan coronavirus from the get-go. Taiwan tried sounding the alarm on the virus but the WHO turned their back and brushed off the warning. Instead, the organization continued parroting the Chinese Communist Party's talking points, including that the virus does not spread through human-to-human interaction.

Not only did China lie, but the WHO covered up those lies. This could have been controlled and isolated to Wuhan or even China if the regime had been transparent and the WHO took Taiwan's information seriously. The only reason the American people are doing so well with this deadly virus is because President Trump decided to halt flights to and from China in January, which went against WHO guidelines. 

How are people supposed to believe that the WHO is suddenly looking out for the world's best interests when they have repeatedly failed during this pandemic?
