MSNBC anchor Chris Hayes finally realized that China may not be completely truthful in reporting its number of coronavirus cases and deaths.
"This is a a very obvious point and has been obvious from the beginning but as the global picture fills in over time, there is *absolutely* no fricking way China only had 3300 fatalities from this virus," Hayes mused online Monday night.
"And there's tons of reasons to be skeptical," he continued. "Although it's also the case that their lockdown was unlike anything done anywhere else thanks to an already-developed surveillance state and relentless state apparatus more broadly."
New evidence reveals that China lied, and thousands of people died because of it. We learned that the government destroyed lab work, and silenced whistleblowers who were trying to get the word out to the rest of the world about the deadly virus that was likely to end up on their own door steps.
If you still don't suspect foul play, ask the citizens of Wuhan. Local residents knew the numbers coming from the CCP weren't right because they saw firsthand how many urns had been returned to families via funeral homes. Estimates, based on calculations of cremations and urns, put the number of deaths between 42,000-46,000 in the city and surrounding areas. Not 3,000.

Some people congratulated Hayes for finally seeing the light.
This is like watching a puppy discover that the puppy he was chasing in the mirror wasn’t another dog. https://t.co/ogPExwWCXL

Others, like Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), amusingly asked Hayes when his own network would start reporting the truth.
Yup. Why won’t NBC report this? https://t.co/hnT1NaSFTQ

On Tuesday morning, the "TODAY" show did report a "spike" in cases coming out of China. But again, judging by the comment section, viewers were skeptical.
