President Donald Trump announced new travel restrictions from the European Union. Beginning Friday at midnight, all travel from Europe to the United States will be suspended for the next 30 days as a means of protecting the American people from the Wuhan Virus.
"After consulting with our top government officials, I have decided to take several strong but necessary actions to protect the health and well-being of all Americans. To keep new cases from entering our shores, we will be suspending all travel from Europe to the United States for the next 30 days," Trump said during his address. "The new rules will go into effect Friday at midnight."
According to the president, the restrictions will be re-evaluated depending on the "conditions on the ground."
There will be some restrictions for Americans who have undergone "appropriate screenings." The same restrictions will apply to cargo traveling from the E.U. to America.
"Anything coming from Europe to the United States is what we're discussing," Trump said.
