Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) told reporters on Thursday that because of the Democratic impeachment managers' case they have presented to the Senate for the trial of President Trump, it is clear that Hunter Biden, and his father, former Vice President Joe Biden, must be called as witnesses.
Hawley had tweeted for Biden's testimony Thursday morning before the Senate trial's third day.
The many hours of #impeachment argument yesterday revealed how central Hunter Biden is. Schiff insisted @realDonaldTrump wasn’t serious about corruption in Ukraine b/c there was no corruption involving Biden. Really? Material question. Maybe Senate should call Biden & find out

Trump's phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky asking for the country to investigate Biden's dealing with gas company Burisma and the military aid being withheld is what sparked the whistleblower to file the complaint.
Hawley said the House Democrats had "worked themselves" in trying to have both ways.
"[They're] saying, 'Actually there was a problem and [Viktor] Shokin should have investigated Burisma, but nobody should be investigating it now and later," he said. "That I think is very problematic for them. I'm interested to see how they're going to get out of it."

"I will again, though, I was very surprised that they chose to make Hunter Biden so central to this presentation and to insist over and over and over again that they knew for a fact about the details, what was going on with Burisma and Biden, and I will just say, for my part, if we're going to call witnesses, I think it's now clear we absolutely must call Hunter and we probably need to call Joe Biden," Hawley said.
