Senator Sanders Compares Soleimani Strike to Killing of Russian Dissidents

President Trump’s bold, calculated move to instruct the military to take out Iranian general Qasem Soleimani was undoubtedly a huge win for America, and for greater global safety. In typical hyper-partisan fashion, the Left would rather melt down about the capture of a known terrorist rather than cede a win to President Trump.

The far-left, anti-war movement's favorite talking head and presidential hopeful, Senator Bernie Sanders, sounded off on President Trump’s bold move, as if capturing a terrorist with thousands of American lives on his hands could ever be viewed as a negative. Ahead of the Iowa Caucuses, after his recent surge in national polls, Sanders went as far as to compare the capture of Soleimani to Vladimir Putin’s "assassination of dissidents," via America Rising:

Senator Sanders seemed to be specifically referring to the 2015 assassination of anti-Putin politician Boris Nemtsov, who stood strongly against Vladimir Putin’s government. He was shot just before a protest against Russian involvement in Ukraine, which he himself organized.

Senator Sanders’ comparison of these two events is asinine; Soleimani was a known terrorist with American blood on his hands, while the latter civilian of the Senator’s comparison simply dissented against the government and lost his life on the basis of ideology. President Trump’s move was patriotic, brave and, frankly, long overdue. Soleimani’s capture and killing was just, and an inherently good thing for the world at-large.

When President Obama took out Osama Bin Laden, conservatives gave credit where credit was due; what is good for America, is, in fact, good. Senator Sanders also gave credit to President Obama for taking out Bin Laden:

“The death of Osama bin Laden is a historic moment in our fight against international terrorism and his Al Qaeda organization...I applaud the extraordinary bravery of those American military personnel who participated in this highly-effective operation, the intelligence operation that made it possible and the leadership of President Obama,” the Senator said in a May 2011 statement.

In a Republic as great as the United States, opposition to the President on an ideological basis is perfectly reasonable. To vilify the President of the United States for taking out a vicious terrorist, and then compare the move to the murder of an innocent civilian, is nothing short of partisan rancor from Bernie Sanders.
