According to the ACLU, 'Menstrual Equality' Is a Thing

Just when we thought liberals couldn't get any more deranged, they do something to completely shock us. I know, at this point you're thinking, "What could they possibly do that is any more shocking than the new norm?"

The answer is simple: the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) wants tampons to be included in men's restrooms. The reason? They think not having tampons discriminates against "every person who menstruates."

"Around the country and the world, people are mobilizing for menstrual equity. Central to the policy agenda: accessible and affordable period products for everyone who needs them," the ACLU said in a statement.

The organization makes the argument that there are "barriers to menstrual access," which is a "form of sex discrimination" against "trans men and non-binary people who menstruate."

"While free menstrual products are not uniformly provided in women’s restrooms, they are almost never available in men’s restrooms, even for pay," the ACLU explained. "Men’s restrooms are also less likely to have a place to dispose of these products conveniently, privately, and hygienically."

What is interesting, however, is the leftist legal organization says laws are "discriminatory" when "sex-linked characteristics have made the point that 'only women' menstruate, get pregnant, or breastfeed. But that is not a full or accurate portrayal — and menstrual stigma and period poverty can hit trans and non-binary people particularly hard."

This is not the first time the organization has made a statement about periods and men. In fact, on International Men's Day, the group applauded men who have periods, get pregnant and give birth.

The ACLU even established a "Menstrual Equality Toolbox," which includes definitions, talking points and legislative agendas to make "menstrual equality" a reality.

The ACLU's main talking points are:

  • Menstrual equity is a basic equity issue.
  • Menstrual equity is a serious issue for marginalized populations.
  • Menstrual equity is desperately needed in prisons, jails, juvenile detention centers, and other detention facilities.
  • Menstrual equity is a public health concern.
  • Menstrual equity is a gender equality issue.
  • Menstrual equity is part of reproductive justice.

There is nothing wrong with wanting women to have access to sanitary supplies, like tampons and pads. It really is something that women should have access to, even if they are in prison or detention facilities or are homeless. After all, none of us who were born women chose to have periods on a monthly basis. It is just "one of those things" that is part of womanhood.

It takes things to a whole new level when we have groups, like the American Civil Liberties Union, telling us that every single men's restroom should have a machine that dispenses sanitary supplies and buckets for them to dispose of used tampons and pads. And it really is hard to tell if these lefties are more upset at the "lack of access" or the fact that these supplies are not readily available for free to anyone and everyone who wants and or needs them.

We have already had to have "gender-inclusive" restrooms that are open to anyone and everyone. Now establishments are going to be forced to make sure both men's and women's restrooms have these so-called "luxuries." Whether or not they will actually be stocked is a whole other story.
