Mike Pence's Spox Responds to Anonymous Author's Claim He Would Support Invoking the 25th Amendment

Vice President Mike Pence's spokeswoman said the claim made by the New York Times anonymous op-ed author in their new book about him supporting invoking the 25th Amendment is "FAKE NEWS."

Anonymous first made themselves known with an op-ed titled, "I Am Part of the Resistance Inside the Trump Administration."

The 25th Amendment states if Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive departments "transmit to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall immediately assume the powers and duties of the office as Acting President."

HuffPost, who obtained passages from Anonymous's book, reported "there was no doubt in the minds of these senior officials that Pence would support invoking the 25th Amendment if the majority of the Cabinet signed off on it."

The still-senior White House official went on to say discussions about invoking the 25th Amendment against Trump took place between the cabinet officials after he fired FBI Director James Comey in 2017.

Spokeswoman Katie Waldman dismissed their claim on Twitter.

“Whoever anonymous is, assuming this is actually in the book, has exposed themselves as a complete fraud. Anyone who knows the Vice President knows that he would never tolerate such talk and any such person would immediately be shown the door," a top Trump ally in the White House also told Daily Wire reporter Ryan Saavedra.
