Did the Trump-Ukraine Whistleblower Give Away the Game on Democrats’ Impeachment Push?

Well, the impeachment of President Donald J. Trump is underway. Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA), chair of the House Intelligence Committee, and other House Democrats are quarterbacking the effort. It’s based on nonsense. Supposedly, President Trump shook down the Ukrainian political leadership, threatening to withhold military aid unless a corruption investigation was opened into Hunter Biden, son of former Vice President Joe Biden who was on the board of a Ukrainian energy company making $50,000 a month. The issue on that front is Hunter has zero experience in the energy sector, and it appears he was selling access while daddy was in office. Still, this quid pro quo allegation is what Democrats think is their best chance to boot Trump. It’s shoddier than Russian collusion, but that narrative got blown apart thanks to the multiple public hearings on the matter.

Democrats, learning from their mistake on Russian collusion, took this entire impeachment process into the bunker, selectively releasing transcripts that only bolstered their narrative, and the whole process took the term politically motivated to a new level. Hence, the House vote, which still gives Schiff a lot of control, especially over GOP requests. When you have Democratic clowns on the Hill, expect a circus. This whole fiasco also feeds into the anti-Trump deep state antics that have been ongoing for years.

Then-Acting Attorney General Sally Yates refused to enforce the president’s executive action on immigration, which set off the rest of these nameless paper-pushers to do the same. We have allegations that the campaign was spied on by the CIA and FBI. Top Department of Justice officials discussed invoking the 25th Amendment to remove Trump. Even liberal lawyer Alan Dershowitz said stuff like this constituted nothing more than a coup attempt. This Trump-Ukraine episode we’re dealing with is all because some whistleblower filed a complaint. This person did not listen in on the July phone call, which is the basis for this allegation.  It’s all secondhand information. This person is a CIA agent, a registered Democrat, had worked in the Obama White House as a National Security Council staffer, and worked with a 2020 Democratic candidate. So, excuse me if I’m more than skeptical of this person’s intentions. And now his lawyer has talked about impeachment and a coup since 2017 (via Fox News):

Mark Zaid, one of the attorneys representing the whistleblower at the center of the Democrats' ongoing impeachment inquiry, tweeted conspicuously in January 2017 that a "coup has started" and that "impeachment will follow ultimately."

Then, in July 2017, Zaid remarked, "I predict @CNN will play a key role in @realDonaldTrump not finishing out his full term as president." Also that month, Zaid tweeted, "We will get rid of him, and this country is strong enough to survive even him and his supporters."

Amid a slew of impeachment-related posts, Zaid assured his Twitter followers that "as one falls, two more will take their place," apparently referring to Trump administration employees who defy the White House.

The tweets, which came shortly after President Trump fired then-acting Attorney General Sally Yates for failing to defend federal laws in court, are likely to fuel Republican concerns that the anonymous whistleblower's complaint is tainted with partisanship.

“The whistleblower’s lawyer gave away the game," the Trump campaign's communications director, Tim Murtaugh. told Fox News. "It was always the Democrats’ plan to stage a coup and impeach President Trump and all they ever needed was the right scheme. They whiffed on Mueller so now they’ve settled on the perfectly fine Ukraine phone call. This proves this was orchestrated from the beginning.”

"45 years from now we might be recalling stories regarding the impeachment of @realDonaldTrump. I'll be old, but will be worth the wait," Zaid wrote in June 2017.

He emphasized his interest in impeachment in a variety of other posts.

"Johnson (1868), Nixon (1973), Clinton (1998) impeachment hearings. Next up @realDonaldTrump (2017)," he said in May.

I mean even without the lawyer’s tweets; we could all see what was going on here. Rep. Al Green (D-TX) flatly said that Democrats needed to impeach Trump, or he could get re-elected, a tacit acknowledgment of that the 2020 field is rather weak. And prior to the House impeachment vote, Republican members on the committees conducting the now-former secret interviews with witnesses feeding the Left’s impeachment lust were only given summaries and they could only be read with a Democratic staffer present. But it’s okay now that it’s all in the open. Nope. It’s a political hit job, a witch hunt. And no one should take anything Democrats say on the matter seriously. Impeachment has been their project since day one of this presidency. As with any Democrat, they cannot be trusted—ever.
