Biden Torches Dem Rival Over 'Condescending' Brand of 'Elitism'

Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden went after rival Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) on Tuesday for her “condescending” brand of "elitism" after she accused him of being in the “wrong presidential primary” over his health care proposal.

In an op-ed published on Medium, Biden said Warren’s line of attack against him represents a “serious problem.”

“They reflect an angry unyielding viewpoint that has crept into our politics,” he wrote. “If someone doesn’t agree with you — it’s not just that you disagree — that person must be a coward or corrupt or a small thinker.”

He said Warren’s approach to politics is “condescending” to those in the party with a different opinion.

“It’s representative of an elitism that working and middle class people do not share,” he said, “‘We know best; you know nothing’. ‘If you were only as smart as I am you would agree with me.’”

Warren made the comments in defense of her Medicare for All proposal last week, telling reporters that those in the Democratic race who don’t want to end private health insurance are “running in the wrong presidential primary.”

The jab was clearly directed at Biden, who favors adding a public option to Obamacare rather than replacing the entire system.
