Tucker Carlson Uncovers Election-year Request From Bill Clinton to Tony Blair

On his Fox News show Monday night, Tucker Carlson said it took his team only 15 minutes of searching to find evidence of former President Bill Clinton asking then-U.K. Prime Minister Tony Blair for a political favor…during an election year.

“You’ve heard endlessly on cable news that it is unprecedented the president would seek political gain from a conversation with a foreign leader. Well, turns out, it has happened before,” Carlson said.

“Back in 2000, President Bill Clinton had a conversation with Tony Blair of the U.K. and asked him to intercede in a dispute between British Airways and two carriers. The president, at the time, was much more direct than President Trump was in his conversation.

“This is Bill Clinton, and I’m quoting: ‘In a political season, it would be big over here to get this open sore resolved. If you could have somebody take a look at it.’ Tony Blair responded that he would,” the host said, reading from the transcript.

Carlson went on to say the conversation is “not really” a big deal, but it is clearly “an attempt to use a foreign country to influence the outcome of an election in a presidential year.”

The revelation comes as Democrats, who are pursuing impeachment, allege that President Trump engaged in a quid pro quo with Ukraine, pushing the country to investigate the Bidens in exchange for military aid.

Carlson said there are probably many more examples in old Clinton transcripts. “If we find them we will bring them to you,” he promised.
