Rep. Ilhan Omar denied allegations of an affair with a married consultant in Washington, D.C., on Tuesday, declining to go into detail about her "personal life."
“No, I am not,” Omar said when asked by WCCO if she was separated from her husband and had a relationship with anyone else. “As I said yesterday, I have no interest in really allowing the conversation about my personal life to continue and so I have no desire to discuss it.”
Talk of the affair circulated earlier this week as a result of a divorce filing from the consultant's estranged wife, 55-year-old Beth Mynett.

She alleged Omar was in a relationship with her husband, Tim Mynett, 38, and that they separated in April 2019 when he confessed the affair.
“The parties physically separated on or about April 7, 2019, when Defendant told Plaintiff that he was romantically involved with and in love with another woman, Ilhan Omar, who serves as a U.S. representative from Minnesota,” states the court filing.
“Defendant’s more recent travel and long work hours now appear to be more related to his affair with Representative Omar than with his actual work commitments,” the filing continued.
Mynett had worked for the congresswoman's congressional campaign and his company, E. Street Group, received roughly $230,000 from her campaign for digital communications, fundraising consulting, internet advertising, and travel costs, reports The New York Post.
Beth Mynett is seeking primary physical custody of their 13-year-old son.
