During the first Democratic debate, presidential candidates battled to out-do one another when it came to proving who was more in favor of killing babies--but one response left everyone scratching their heads.
Answering a question about whether his health care plan would cover abortion, Julian Castro said it would, and proceeded to make a bizarre case for "reproductive justice."
“I don’t believe only in reproductive freedom, I believe in reproductive justice," said the former secretary of Housing and Urban Development. "What that means is just because a woman or, let’s also not forget, someone in the trans community — a trans female — is poor does not mean they should not have the ability to exercise that right to choose.”
Yes, you read that correctly. He argued that biological men should have the right to abortion.
Embarrassing: Julian Castro panders on transgender issues, and screws up his basic biology. "Reproductive justice" means a "trans female" can get an abortion — paid for by taxpayers. https://t.co/wstVUmVruL

#juliancastro literally said that a transgender can have an abortion. Yet this is the party of science guys

Castro just said that biological men should have the right to get abortions. This is actual literal insanity. I’m so glad they’re displaying it for all to see. #DemocraticDebate

Julian Castro just said he supports the right of a trans woman to have an abortion with taxpayer money, calling it “reproductive justice.” Okay then.

So glad Castro just clarified that biological men must be granted abortion rights.

Apparently Julian Castro said he supports MEN who identify as WOMEN having abortions. We need to shut this debate down for an immediate biology lesson. https://t.co/tfbMjtEzUb

Other Democrats may not have gotten things as wrong as Castro did, but their positions were nonetheless just as extreme.

Sen. Elizabeth Warren, for example, had no response to a question about whether she supported any abortion restrictions.
"I would make certain that every woman has access to the full range of reproductive healthcare services and that includes birth control, it includes abortion, it includes everything for a woman," she responded.
Elizabeth Warren could not name any limits she supports on abortion. She doesn’t even draw the line at fully formed, healthy, viable babies. #DemDebate pic.twitter.com/ZNx1kIwQM0

Washington Gov. Jay Inslee, for his part, argued that no insurance company should be able to deny women an abortion.
“It should not be an option in the United States of America for any insurance company to deny a woman coverage for their exercise of their of choice right,” Inslee said. “I am the only candidate who has passed a law protecting a woman’s right of reproductive health and health insurance, and I am the only candidate who has passed a public option."
Klobuchar responded by noting "there's three women up here that have fought pretty hard for a woman's right to choose."
This #DemDebate is hard to watch.

It’s a race to the bottom of which candidate is the most extreme & out of touch on forcing taxpayers to pay for painful late-term abortions.
Because here’s the thing: even a majority of #prochoice Americans believe late abortions are NOT OK.
