On Monday night, CNN held five back-to-back town halls with 2020 Democratic candidates. During her hour, Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) unveiled her "bold" and "courageous" gun control proposal: she would give Congress 100 days to pass "sensible" gun control legislation – whatever the hell that means – or else she would take executive action.
She said she supports renewing the Assault Weapons Ban and wants universal background checks in play. She went into a lot of garbage about what she thinks gun control laws are in place. Naturally, she knows zip about federal gun laws.
Since she made her "bold" announcement during the town hall on Monday, Harris' team has been pushing the gun control narrative and hard.
These are the majority of her tweets throughout the week. The general theme: guns bad, government good:
In 2017 alone, nearly 40,000 Americans were killed by guns. This is a national epidemic. If Congress fails to act to address it in my first 100 days, I will take executive action to keep our kids and communities safe.

Of course, she runs with the typical "I'll stand up to the NRA" garbage, as if the NRA isn't made up of individual members nationwide.

My plan to stand up to the NRA if Congress won’t:
— Kamala Harris (@KamalaHarris) April 23, 2019
?Mandate near-universal background checks
?Revoke the licenses of gun dealers who break the law
?Ensure fugitives from justice can’t purchase guns
?Close the “Boyfriend Loophole” to prevent domestic abusers from buying guns
She's not hiding the fact that she'd take a pen and paper to get things done. Sound familiar?
The leading cause of death for young Black men is gun violence. It outpaces the next nine leading causes combined. This is a national tragedy. We need to act. If Congress won’t, I will. https://t.co/elch3KYvNC

We cannot wait any longer to keep our children safe. We must act now.https://t.co/eR9QC1X3VA

Every day, 100 Americans are killed by guns. Gun violence is a national epidemic. It’s time we take action. Last night I announced executive actions I intend to take as president if Congress refuses to act. https://t.co/elch3KYvNC

She even regurgitated the same stereotypical anti-gunner talking point. They love saying women are more likely to be hurt by their partner's guns than they are to defend themselves.
A stunning statistic: In 2015, 92% of all women killed by guns in high-income countries lived in the United States.

92%.
That is shameful. I will close the “boyfriend loophole” and prevent dating partners convicted of domestic violence from purchasing guns.
And, somehow, she determined that paying teachers more verses letting them carry concealed will stop school shootings.
Not sure how that math works.
Nearly 1 million women in the U.S. alive today have been shot, or shot at, by an intimate partner. We’ve had too many tragedies for addressing gun violence to not be a priority. https://t.co/VTABuluSZn

Teachers don’t need a gun. They need a raise.

We have to give them the resources they need to educate the next generation of leaders. https://t.co/ozXmwea7Y0
Loopholes in our system mean millions of guns are sold each year with no questions asked. This is a danger to our families, this is a danger to our communities. https://t.co/XQ4b11JRFC

Of course, this proposal sounds great to those who hate guns and the Second Amendment.
Some will say my plan to combat gun violence is “too bold.” As president, if Congress continues to bury its head in the sand, I will act. Too many people have died for us to wait any longer. https://t.co/KJEMAZ72az

I’m not afraid to stand up to the NRA and the gun lobby to enact common-sense solutions to combat the gun violence epidemic in our country. https://t.co/84tVxKkyYq

And Kamala's team thought they were genius in announcing their plan during CNN's town hall.
Except they forgot one fact.
The NRA's Annual Meetings are taking place this weekend. Thousands of gun-loving, God fearing, patriotic Americans are gathering in Indianapolis to talk about the future of the Second Amendment and how to preserve our freedoms. It's a time for like-minded individuals to come together and devise a plan, especially before a presidential election year, to protect our right to keep and bear arms.
Well, congrats, Kamala and friends. You all just gave us another reason to rally the troops, to knock on doors and register people to vote.
You may not call it what it is but we will.
You want gun confiscation. You want to disarm us unless we "want to hunt or something." You want to make it harder for law-abiding people to protect themselves and their families. You'd rather give us a rape whistle and hope it helps than to allow us the opportunity to be proactive.
Congrats, Kamala. You may not have planned on being the talk of the town, but you are. And you'll also be the reason for the spike in guns and ammo sales. Can't wait to see what the National Instant Criminal Background Check (NICS) numbers are for April.
As we always say...MOLON LABE.
