Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) is at battle with "Fox & Friends" anchor Brian Kilmeade after he made reference to her shocking comments about September 11. She defined the terror attack as "some people who did something," so Kilmeade questioned her patriotism on air Wednesday morning.
This is dangerous incitement, given the death threats I face. I hope leaders of both parties will join me in condemning it.

You'll notice that Omar also included Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX) in the above tweet. He was surprised because, as he notes, all he did was quote her exact words.
She elaborated on those sentiments in a guest appearance on "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert" Wednesday night.
She described her process in Congress as "growth," noting that if she says something that "pains" someone, be it a constituent or a colleague, she is willing to "listen" to their concerns. And she expects the same treatment.
"When you have people on Fox News that question if I'm actually American, or I put America first, I expect my colleagues to also say that's not okay. Or when people call me a terrorist."
"I took an oath," she insisted. "I am as American as anyone else is!"
Yet, in a clarification tweet, Kilmeade said he wasn't questioning her American citizenship, he was questioning how she could have made such remarks as an American - and he wasn't the only one.
I didn't intend to question whether Rep. Omar is an American - I am questioning how any American, let alone a United States Congresswoman, could downplay the 9/11 attacks.
