Rep. Al Green (D-TX) was undeterred Tuesday by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D-CA) warning against attempts to impeach President Trump Monday.
“I’m not for impeachment,” she told the Washington Post. “Impeachment is so divisive to the country that unless there’s something so compelling and overwhelming and bipartisan, I don’t think we should go down that path, because it divides the country. And he’s just not worth it.”
However, Rep. Green, who has been pushing to impeach the president since Trump was elected, told C-SPAN Tuesday that he will “bring it (to) the floor of the House again,” but declined to say when.
In reply to Pelosi’s comment that Trump was not worth it, Green argued that, “it’s not about him. It’s not about Democrats. It’s about democracy.”
“This is not about the speaker, it wasn’t about the speaker before she became speaker and it’s not about the speaker now,” Green said at a press conference in his office, Politico reported.

“It’s not about any one person — it’s really not even about the president as much as it is about what he’s doing,” he argued. “It’s about his behavior that is harmful to society.”
Green dismissed the idea that some bipartisan consensus was needed for impeachment.
“If we wait on Republicans, who are not going to buy in, then there won’t be an impeachment,” he said. “We should not wait on people who are not coming. That bipartisan ship has already gone to the bottom of the sea of sophistry.”
In December 2017, Green attempted to force the House to consider impeachment articles. However, the effort failed by a 364-58 vote. Other Democrats have repeatedly pushed impeachment, including freshman Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) and veteran Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA).
Waters recently tweeted that impeachment “is the only answer” for President Trump.
Obstruction of justice reality show: Firing Comey, sending coded messages to Manafort & others that he has the power to pardon; lying abt Trump Tower meeting; threatening Cohen's in-laws; attempting to destroy Mueller. What more do we need to know? Impeachment is the only answer

Tlaib caused controversy in December when she said Democrats were going to "impeach the motherf***er."
Tlaib announced last week that she plans to introduce articles of impeachment against Trump and she also seems unfazed by Pelosi’s comments.
“They always say represent your district. I’m representing my district,” she commented on the matter Monday evening to Rachael Bade with The Washington Post.
