View Co-host Meghan McCain and CNN's Chris Cuomo Clash Over Jim Acosta's Career

“There are people like Jim Acosta that make me want to change the channel,” The View co-host Meghan McCain said on air Thursday about the CNN journalist.

McCain got in a heated debate during the program with CNN television host Chris Cuomo, who reacted to a clip from Fox and Friends interviewing White House press secretary Sarah Sanders on Wednesday.

“We’re in the business of getting information to the American people,” said Sanders. “Not making stars out of people who want to become contributors on CNN.”

When asked for a response, Cuomo had nothing nice to say about Sanders or the people at Fox and Friends.

“I’m sure that clip left out the vigorous questioning by the people on the couch of her,” Cuomo said sarcastically. “Now obviously, I’m being facetious, they didn’t say anything and that’s why she goes on Fox News because she gets a pass. The administration favors that place because it’s the mothership.”

McCain asked Cuomo if anchors should make clear when they’re stating facts and opinions and if they should, “know the difference between journalists and opinion makers.” She also pointed out how the Trump administration contributed greatly to the careers of people at CNN.

“I don’t think they [reporters] should want to be TV stars at the same time,” she said, responding to The View co-host Joy Behar, who asked if reporters should be able to call out lies that could be made by the White House.

Cuomo said that Acosta’s work is “not a popular job,” because his job involves, “demanding accountability from power.”

Abby Huntsman, another co-host of The View, began referencing a moment when Cuomo corrected Acosta.

Behar then interrupted.

“What is this, hate Jim Acosta day?” she asked.
