President Trump is slamming General Motors after the company announced it is pausing production at a number of factories in the United States.
"Not good. I’m not happy about it at all. Not at all. We’ve let our position be known and we’re not happy about it," "This country has done a lot for General Motors. They better get back to Ohio and soon," Trump said Monday afternoon from the White House. "So we have a lot of pressure on them. We have a lot of Senators, and a lot of pressure. They say the Chevy cruise is not selling well. I said well get a car that is selling well and put it back in. I think you’ll see something else happen there. I’m not happy about it. Their car is not selling well, and we’ll put something else and I have no doubt in the not too distant future, they better put something else."
On Tuesday, Trump followed up and reminded the company of its debt to the American people and threatened to slash all subsidies.
....for electric cars. General Motors made a big China bet years ago when they built plants there (and in Mexico) - don’t think that bet is going to pay off. I am here to protect America’s Workers!

During a press briefing at the White House, Chief Economic Advsor Larry Kudlow sent the same message.
"There's disappointment that it seems GM would rather build its electric cars in China than the U.S." Kudlow said
