The media keeps finding former classmates of Brett Kavanaugh willing to offer some insight on his behavior at school. Chad Ludington, an acquaintance of Kavanaugh at Yale in the 1980s, now says the Supreme Court nominee is downplaying his old drinking habits. At the Senate Judiciary Committee hearing last week, Kavanaugh defended himself against allegations he abused alcohol. "I liked beer," he said, before turning the question back on the senators.
Brett, Ludington said, was "a frequent drinker and a heavy drinker."
#BrettKavenaugh’s classmate rejects what he calls “a blatant mischaracterization” of his drinking habits at Yale: “Brett was a frequent drinker, & a heavy drinker...When Brett got drunk, he was often belligerent & aggressive”. We will be reading full statement on @CNNnewsroom

"On many occasions I heard Brett slur his words and saw him staggering from alcohol consumption, not all of which was beer," he recalled. "When Brett got drunk, he was often belligerent and aggressive."
Ludington went on the record with the media and is planning to tell the FBI.

Ludington noted that Kavanaugh's actions as a teenager should not be a disqualifying factor, but his lies under oath are a different story.

"I can unequivocally say that in denying the possibility that he ever blacked out from drinking, and in downplaying the degree and frequency of his drinking, Brett has not told the truth," Ludington said.
"Saturday Night Live" portrayed Kavanaugh as a heavy drinker this weekend too in their spoof of last weekend's Senate Judiciary Committee hearing. Matt Damon, who played Kavanaugh, at one point said, "I always see the keg half full." The skit show also suggested Kavanaugh's claims to sexual purity in school were hard to believe because of his excessive alcohol intake.
The Democrats got their wish and the FBI is now investigating Christine Blasey Ford's allegations against Kavanaugh, though they are frustrated the agency was given just one week to complete the task.
