Trump Blasts Russia Over Threatening to Retaliate Against US Strike in Syria: 'Get Ready'

President Trump on Wednesday warned Russia that if they shoot down U.S. missiles fired at Syria and target the launch sites they better “get ready.”

“Russia vows to shoot down any and all missiles fired at Syria. Get ready Russia, because they will be coming, nice and new and “smart!” You shouldn’t be partners with a Gas Killing Animal who kills his people and enjoys it!” Trump said in a morning tweet.

The president was referring to comments made by Russia's ambassador to Lebanon,

Alexander Zasypkin, to Hezbollah's al-Manar TV Tuesday that "if there is a strike by the Americans then... the missiles will be downed and even the sources from which the missiles were fired."

Trump also commented on the deteriorating relationship between the U.S. and Russia.

“Our relationship with Russia is worse now than it has ever been, and that includes the Cold War. There is no reason for this. Russia needs us to help with their economy, something that would be very easy to do, and we need all nations to work together,” he said Monday on Twitter. “Stop the arms race?”

The president canceled plans to attend a summit in South America over the situation in Syria, where at least 40 people were killed over the weekend in a suspected chemical attack.

On Monday Trump said “nothing is off the table” in terms of how the United States would respond to the “atrocious” attack.
