Conor Lamb is the projected victor in Tuesday's special election in Pennsylvania's 18th congressional district. Lamb ran as a moderate Democrat who was pro-gun, pro-coal, and had no desire to attack President Trump. The race was still too close to call last night against his Republican opponent Rick Saccone, but the numbers suggest that Lamb is poised for the upset.
With his victory speech behind him, Lamb is still refusing to say a bad word about the president. CNN's Alisyn Camerota wanted to know Wednesday if the state of the race says anything about Trump. Lamb hinted that Trump may have been a part of some "foolish" campaigning, but he stopped short of condemning the president.
Democrat Conor Lamb on Trump calling him ‘Lamb the sham’: “There was a lot of foolishness in this election and a lot of really cartoonish campaigning… By the time of the President’s visit last weekend, people were kind of tired of that approach.” https://t.co/8gHkZfx18T pic.twitter.com/vlwiMBdAPP

“Not really,” Lamb said. “Only to say that there are plenty of people here who are still pretty supportive of him.”
Lamb also noted that he saw plenty of cars that had President Trump ‘s bumper sticker on them at several polling sites.
“He’s a popular person here,” Lamb said, before thanking Trump supporters who showed up to the polls for him.

Lamb may be holding his tongue about Trump, but the president did not extend the same favor. At a campaign rally for Saccone last weekend, Trump criticized Lamb for trying to act like a Republican, giving him the nickname, "Lamb the Sham." He also suggested he was better looking. Camerota wanted to know if Lamb agreed.
"I really have no opinion on that one," he said.
