Schumer Claims He Didn't Follow Last Year's Primary...'Morning Joe' Has a Good Laugh

Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) can’t comment on Donna Brazile’s bombshell claims about the DNC rigging last year’s primary for Hillary Clinton, because he didn’t really “follow” the race. At least that’s what he told MSNBC’s Kasie Hunt when she asked the Senate Minority Leader for a response.

"Do you have any concerns about the DNC's involvement in the primary in 2016?" Hunt asked the senator.

"I didn't follow it," Schumer said. "I'd like to see what Donna Brazile has to say."

Huh?

“Kasie, Sen. Schumer didn’t follow the 2016 election presidential nominating process?" a quizzical Willie Geist asked her after airing the clip.

“I was a little taken aback when the senator said that,” Hunt admitted.

Yeah, especially because Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), the victim of the DNC's apparent pro-Hillary agenda, is on Schumer’s Senate Democratic leadership team.

Listen and you'll hear Joe Scarborough yelling, "Oh my God!" in the background.

Yet, we shouldn’t be surprised by Schumer’s dismissive answers. He’s following the protocol of several top Democrats who have failed to confirm or deny Brazile’s story. When DNC Chair Tom Perez was asked to comment, he simply said the committee would pledge to do better.

"I think we have to do better," he told NBC's Chuck Todd. "I was very clear during the campaign for DNC chair that we have to make sure at the end of the process everybody feels they got a fair shake. That’s how we earn people’s trust.”

However, not all liberal Democrats are avoiding straight answers.
